Animal Puns

'OK,' I said, 'Alpaca my bags.'

I think I saw the show on Toon Disney around maybe 2003, but something about it tells me it didn't originate there. The animation style was similar to Care Bears or Gummi Bears, and all the names for the characters and species were animal puns. The clearest example I can remember is that there were "road hogs" who were actually pigs, and they would actually eat the asphalt, and could be enticed if someone spread "traffic jam" on a particular section of road.

Bearnie Sanders (A Brown Bear, found it somewhere on a reddit post - thought it was funny, used it in a game.

Mike Byson (Bison) (Found it on the internet but I'd still say it's better than an average pun).

Boaris Johnson (Wild Boar).

Mazer Raccoonham (Racoon, Parody of Mazer Rackham from the Ender's game series').

(These aren't of them - I'm leaving out the ones I got or were inspired from funny animal lists with the exception of 1) (I can include them if someone wants to) (There may have been more but those would have been on my first game which was both on a different version of Rimworld and had significantly more mods than I currently use).

Before you say "Uh, a bird?" Yes I'm aware that some people mightn't like the idea of birds and reptiles existing in Zootopia. My explanation is that birds DO exist but because their needs and architecture vary so differently from the mammals (ie Zootopia birds use their beaks and legs to manipulate objects like Crane in Kung Fu Panda while mammals have opposable thumbs, so the birds would struggle to open a mammal doorknob, penguins on the other hand can use their flippers as arms so they'd have an easier time adapting) , it's just not practical for them to live in Zootopia so they choose not to.

To cover the explanation that birds are non anthro so that the predators have something to eat, chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys, basically any bird you eat in real life are non anthro and the more exotic birds like parrots, eagles ect are and they live in their own Zootopia-esque city that I've dubbed Avianopolis.

My boy Pablo, an emperor penguin comes from Shiverpool, the penguin town down south (named after Shiverpool from Surf's Up) and he's moved to Zootopia because of the "Everyone can be anything!" motto, so he believes that even a bird like himself can succeed in Zootopia. My main reason for his existence is that I wanted to daydream about what it would be like being a penguin in a mammal city and what prejudices or difficulties he'd come across. During the Savage Predator Crisis he faced the uncertainty of "Yes, I am a predator but is it only the mammal predators that are going savage or all predators regardless of species? Am I safe from turning savage because I'm a bird, or not?"

He joined an All Arctic Fox Ice Hockey team because he loved skating back at home and the Attic Fox Team were the only team that he was in the same height class in. Because of the already bad rep Foxes get combined with the fact that they had an extremely out of place bird member, the team's reputation tanked but they managed to pull through the criticisms and become good friends and an excellently skilled team regardless.

Anyway, all this detail I came up for him and I STILL haven't got a surname. I wanted it to be a pun on pescatarian because penguins are fish eaters and it would also be alliteration with the name Pablo but I can't think of a good way to combine it with an good surname suffix.

I've already got names for my other two characters Chelsea Fleetfoot (cheetah) and Scarlett Forrester (red squirrel) but my poor boy Pablo has yet to be given a surname.

I was thinking of a portmanteau of pescatarian (because penguins eat fish) and a stock surname suffix but I can't think of anything. I'm open to abandoning pescatarian if there's an extremely obvious emperor penguin pun surname that I'm missing.

And in case you're wondering, no this is not for a fanfiction. I just like daydreaming slice of life stories for these characters because I think the general worldbuilding of Zootopia is ripe for story telling.

I'm looking for more of these birthday cards, if they still exist. I bought a bunch of them about a year back and am trying to see if I can find more. They all had puns, mostly animal ones, and were all square. I may have gotten them at Paper Source or Papyrus. The back only says "Classic Collection..." with no company name.

We're having a Canadian wedding with an animal theme to differentiate the different tables. On each table we'll have an animal emblem with some kind of love pun for each animal. It's been a trying affair to come up with these, but I know a lot of them could be better. In fact, most of them are downright ridiculous.

Reddit, how can we improve these?

Moose - I find you amoosing.

Beaver - I think I'll pick this flower for her, it would beavery romantic.

Owl - Owl always love you.

Fox - You are the object of my affoxtion.

Skunk - I stink you're sweet!

Bunny - Everybunny loves you!

Woodpecker - Knock Knock! Who's there? Wood! Wood who? Wood you be mine?

Throughout the show people will often be offended or oblivious to animal puns. Most notably:

Also fish are clearly another ethnicity with their own language, but that doesn't stop Princess Carolyn from saying "oh fish" in place of fuck. Princess Carolyn is also offended by a mouse tail about cats. Diane seems vary offended by a human mascot. And so on.
