I know... I was shocked too. With pinnacle weapons lurking around every corner, I tried to have some fun on Xbox and was pleasantly surprised by the combo mentioned above. There are a few small details that made a big difference in this build so I will outline them below if you want to change it up.
On my Subtle Calamity, I was fortunate enough to get quickdraw and an accuracy masterwork. This makes the bow feel snappy even though the draw speed for this archetype is a bit slower than something like spiteful fang. In order to bring up the handling on the V Wing, I added a quick access sling mod to the bow. Considering you have about 60+ arrows per life in crucible, you basically have quickdraw on your Vigilance Wing; all you have to do is shoot an arrow!
With the 5 round burst and generous body shot damage, the V Wing was a great way to clean up Subtle Calamity head shots at mid to long range. Even if someone ran up on me with a shotty, I could swap back to the bow, hip fire, and finish them off with a hip fire burst or 2 of the V Wing (the catalyst helps TREMENDOUSLY with this). Did this work every time? Absolutely not lol. I got aped and destroyed plenty of times, but in the words of Brian Fantana, "60% of the time, it works ALL the time."
Last but not least, (there was a post about this earlier on here) the new "Vigil for Saint-14" ornament makes the sights for V Wing much cleaner. It's not the new meta, but it's definitely a fun change of pace.

In the homebrew I'm running, one of my players asked me to tweak the artificer for them. He was inspired by the Mandalorian and wanted cool artificer armor to go with his bang-bang guns. I ended up writing an entire Artificer Armorer path, (that I'm currently happy with).
Whether you're into the Mandalorian; Power Rangers or Kamen Rider, I believe this path might be for you.
