A list of puns related to "Grandniece"
George Floydβs 4-year-old grandniece reportedly shot on New Yearβs Day, January 1, 2022(more news by the numbers).
From the reported George Floyd killing, May 25, 2020, to this reported shooting, January 1, 2022, was a span of 587-days. And January 1, 2022, had 44 date numerology.

I have a much older halfsister. We didn't grow up together and don't have much in common. We were never really close, though she has made attempts throughout our lives to build a relationship, but it didn't really work.
She had a child very young, making me an "aunt" at age 5. Let's call this boy Jim. I chose not to have kids at all.
She also later had another child (let's call him Tim), with her 2nd husband. Her 2nd husband is significantly older, and is disabled.
Jim became a dad 5 years ago, to a little girl Macy.
All seemed to be going well. His girlfriend seemed a cool person. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with bone cancer when Macy was only 1 year old. My boyfriend and I did help out a bit - nothing major, a weekend here and there where we took Macy.. My halfsister also helped out. Sadly the tumor was very aggressive and she did not make it.
Jim seemed like a stand-up dad at first, and we thought that he was doing ok. He did have a difficult mourning process, understandably, but he was in therapy.
One day I got a message from my cousin, saying Jim was in hospital. Apparently he had been doing drugs for quite a while, and mixing it with alcohol to self-medicate. Macy was with him when he OD'ed and he's no longer seen fit to be a parent. Halsister took Macy in for the time being.
Now for the baffling part: After a few weeks halfsister calls me, asking me if I wouldn't consider taking Macy in. I asked for how long, and she says until things with Jim are sorted.
I asked her why not her, as she's the grandma, but she said that care for her husband and finances make it hard to take care of a 5-year old.
Here's the thing: I really suspect this will be more than a temporary thing, based on my previous experience with addicts (a good friend's husband) and how my halfsister is phrasing it.
If it was just a week or two, then I think my halfsister would suck it up. More than two weeks? That's more than I'm willing to offer. I also getting this vibe that this will end up being a (semi)permanent situation.
On top of that, it's a REALLY bad time as with Covid my bf's doing home office. I went back to college, so I have online classes. So there's constantly two people trying to work. A small child couldn't really be attended by us.
So I told this to me halfsister we could take her for a weekend or so in emergencies, but not long term. She sort of flipped on me, blaming me for "never really considering her family", and saying how Macy might end up i

So my grand-niece turned 8 today, and I am an idiot who does not have a gift for her.
Help me find something $20 or less for the most adorable 8 year old on the planet and in turn I will gift YOU something of approximately equal value.
She likes Marvel comics and the colors pink and purple and yellow. (I think sheβs especially into Squirel Girl) Apparently she also likes Sakura the Card Captor(?)
Umm honestly I am out of touch on what 8 yr old little girls like!
Anyway.... link me something and be sure to have something on your WL.
Contest ends tomorrow night at 11:59 CST.
