I’ve been smoking Clementine lately and it’s been getting me out of my food funk and back to loving cooking again! Dinner tonight is zoodles, beyond meat crumbles in sugar-free marinara, sautΓ©ed onions and peppers, and chickpeas! Looks messy but is so good 😊

My HM won't stop Smoking in the kitchen while I'm cooking, so now I won't stop playing loud music from my room while she's home. Send song suggestions, please!

I'm *only* going to do this during council noise times.
I'm not going to do it early enough to wake her up.

But, since she's always at home, always smoking and shows no consideration, payback's a b*tch babe.

Dirty Phonics - β€œFrench Fuck” (Dirty Phonics) is a killer. It's so irritating. So, it's a winner.

Cee Lo Green - 'Fuck You' is also perfect for the situation, I'd say

Please, don't hesitate redditors, send your suggestions, and I'll make sure to get around to playing each of them.

Also, I'm moving out in a month :)

Thank you.

Any codes/restrictions about grilling, smoking or cooking outside in Albany?

Particularly in downtown Albany. Looking to get a small, cheap grill with the nice weather starting and getting the amazing smell of people grilling. Just wondering if there are any restrictions I should be careful of before starting fires outside.

Roommate Smoking in Kitchen while I'm COOKING! HELLO!

Hey,

Important Note: Roommate owns the apartment

TL;DR Roommate always smoking indoors, in the kitchen. Doesn't work. Regularly hangs out there talking on the phone for at least an hour. Asked if we could make it a rule that there's no smoking just while I'm preparing my food. She said 'I'll think about it, I'm not well at the moment' I thought that was out of order since it's my health I'm (understandably) concerned about. What do you make of this?

My roommate is a smoker. I knew this when moving in.

She smokes from the window in the kitchen in the apartment. She told me this beforehand, so okay.

However, she's not working at the moment, and she actually just hangs out in front of the kitchen window smoking for at least an hr each morning, and then throughout the day. She hasn't even bought an air freshener to get rid of the smell. I spend most time in my room or at work or outdoors, but when I walk in, I can smell it somewhat, but windows are always open, it's not too bad.

The problem I'm having at the moment is my food prep.

When I'm cooking or preparing food, she'll sometimes stand and smoke.

I was just heating up some oats and it was going to be out of the microwave in a minute, and she starts lighting up. As a non-smoker, obviously I don't want *any* cigarette smoke on my food, it's unhealthy.

I imagine this is self-explanatory.

Anyway, I just asked her if we could make it a rule that when I'm cooking, that we just hold off on the smoking (she could go outside as well, the apartment block has a beautiful courtyard)

She turned to me and said 'I smoke outside now in the mornings when I have my coffee if you haven't noticed...you probably haven't noticed' - but I am aware of that, but I didn't ask her to do that. I've lived here a month and just let her know that I don't like the smoke on my clothes because we actually talk quite a bit when she's smoking, and I think it was making me feel unwell

Anyway, the point she made isn't related to my point about my food... I really don't like when people take it upon themselves to go out of their way to try and make someone else (me) feel comfortable, and then throw it in your face (i didn't ask for that favour? Although it's nice, I'm not going to compromise my health)

She said 'I'll think about it, I'm feeling unwell at the moment' which I thought was out of order, but I said okay and left it

What do you make of this?

Thanks

Was smoking done in the pre-colonial Phililppines, or was that method of cooking in Asia re-introduced by the Spanish?

It seems like the only smoking method used in the entire islands was either done by the Igorots (etag). If there was a method of smoking, are there any sources of how they did it and if it was comparable to modern day smoking in that they would use specific types of wood in order to flavor the meat?

I've been cooking for myself and eating clean, exercising, sticking to a regular sleep pattern taking my meds every day & smoking less for a whole 7 days

I'm someone who relies heavily on a schedule to keep their life together and this lockdown has really effected my lifestyle, like many other people. I've spent the last 9 months in a depressive rut, with the same unhealthy cycle of smoking weed, bad sleep patterns, unhealthy eating, not taking care of my body and generally not doing anything to help myself out of this situation. But for a whole week now I've been consciously making the effort to take better care of myself. This isn't a huge enough thing to share with my irl friends because I feel like everybody I know has been having a tough time lately. However I still wanted to let this out somewhere because I'm proud of myself

LPT: when cooking with cast iron, I like to use the β€œwater technique” when it comes to cleaning. Example: cooking chicken. once you take it off, it won’t quit smoking. just pour a cup of water onto the pan and let it boil away and clean itself. Works like magic and pretty satisfying to watch.

Cold smoking then sous vide cooking a European-style ham. Advice sought.

I have a cured piece of pork that I want to cold-smoke then cook via sous vide in order to make a ham that will be eaten cold and sliced.

I have cooked cured pork sous vide many times before, 60C for about 6 hours.

What I don’t know much about is cold smoking: I mean cold- it’s almost freezing weather here in the UK and I have a kamado style β€˜egg’ into which I can add low-temp wood smoke using pellets in a perforated stainless steel tube. I’ve read about pellicles but never done it, and I have no idea about times. I’m thinking I should dry the meat in the fridge overnight then smoke it for about 3 hours before sous vide cooking it. I want the smoke taste to be mild and not overpower the aromatics in the curing brine.

Does this sound about right?
