A list of puns related to "Republic Of Singapore"
Following the death of the Prime Minister, President Lee Hsien Loong, 82, has accepted the former Deputy Prime Minister's letter of resignation as the now Acting Prime Minister calls an election for the leader of the People's Action Party. Singapore, a relatively developed economy in the region, now prepares to welcome a new government at the conclusion of the leadership elections, with several candidates within the People's Action Party now seeking the leadership and participating in televised debates. The PAP faces a tough choice between candidates, the choices are unusually plentiful, leading some to suggest that the PAP could be facing an internal crisis at the highest levels, and that this could be an invaluable window for the Singapore Democratic Party, the main opposition, to form a real democracy in Singapore; this talk has, however, been unwelcome in the mainstream media.
Yuuki Ito, a resident of Singapore's Marine Parade area, is the current favourite to win the leadership of the PAP, standing on a platform of liberalising the city state, promising to form a "fully fledged democracy" and "accept and address the issues facing the nation", sending a strong message against the party's establishment which has previously hidden underlying issues within the island nation.
