Pythonidae Puns

What's wrong? Each time I'm trying to use these blueprints they are glitched and I end up running with bare hands...

I remember in a lot of old snake books I read, both boas and pythons were included in the Boidae family. So you can imagine my surprise when I read a newer book later on that listed Boidae and Pythonidae separately, and every source I looked at from then on did the same.

My question is this: When exactly was this change made? I did a bunch of googling and couldn't find any useful information.

To put it simpler, what defines a Colubrid as a Colubrid, etc. There are obvious differences, such as pythons lay eggs whereas boas give live birth, but I can't really seem to find what classifies each snake. For example, if I were to find a new snake no one has ever found before, how would we determine the family it falls under?

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I said "hey look, an escaPEA"

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
