Day Old Chinese Painted Quail aka Button Quail
My 4 year old button quail passed away
My 4 year old female button quail just died last night she had laid lots of eggs in that time and raised at least 15 babies that I had to give away. I raised her from an egg and loved her a lot and I'm very sad that she's gone. I'm just wondering if 4 years is an average lifespan, i was really hoping she could have lived much longer but the past 6 months she starting getting sick. I'm just very sad she was such a friendly bird and loved to be picked up and pet. I'm not sure if I can ever own a bird again I get too attached.

Adopted hour old quail yesterday. Their names are Echo, Cornflake, and Twist. Twist has curled toes so we use bandaids to make them learn to be normal. I hope you guys don't mind that these aren't chickens, but they will be going out with my girls when they are old enough
Here it is! My first test batch of the world's hottest quail eggs. 2 carolina reapers, 2 habaneros, 1.5 jalapenos, and half a chili. In 3 weeks we will know how they taste. Test 1 DONE!

Update on my first quail: both hatched Monday, by Saturday they had their first pinfeathers and their wings are taking shape. [In old lady voice] "They grow up so fast!"
The five bird turducken. Quail, Cornish hen, duck, chicken, turkey w/ layer of bacon between each bird. My lifetime goal is to have the Guinness world record for shoving the most animals inside of other animals. I’m sure they could word that better.
Quail update: The two that hatched in my first batch, named Tap and 24, are 10 days old. This is Tap. Tap is an ugly mess of pinfeathers that can almost fly.
Just built this hutch on the back wall of my shed for quail. I have 7 quail that are over 3 weeks old. Just have some finishing touches to add like door handles for both doors.
Poultry Update: Chickens=murderbirds. Be sure your quail cage is secure if it is in a chicken run. This 6-week-old got out yesterday and was beaten up, legs bloodied. He seems to be doing better, is sore and limping but should pull through. No freezer camp for him, he gets ladies and a name.

What to do With a Random Quail
UPDATE: Calgary Wildlife told us to drive it down to them. My husband managed to get away from work and drop it off.
I was standing in the kitchen when I noticed my dog jumping back and forth around some large fluffy thing. Upon closer inspection I realized it was a big fat bird. I have overcome a long standing bird phobia but am still not comfortable so had to pull my husband out of a meeting for assistance. We managed to get the dog inside, and the bird in a box (my neighbours free roaming cats for sure would terrorize and kill it!). We have been able to identify it as a quail. I am looking for advice as to what to do with it. Having it for MY dinner is NOT an option.
TL;DR - have a quail in my backyard, and don't know what to do with it

Quail update: One week old and so many feathers already! Also, SO MUCH POOP. Seriously. They poop constantly.

Quail injury :’( picked up some 6 week old quails today and one of them has a leg like this. She seems in pain and has trouble walking on it...she also seems to have a lump on her neck. What can/should be done?

Pet Quail Update: At 18 days old 24(left) and Tap(right) might be starting to show their sexes. 24's breast appears to be turning red and Tap's breast is extra speckled. I may have my own Adam and Eve.
My Gambel’s quail - they’re not pleased that I left my phone in the enclosure so they’re avoiding like plague, but one did do a call and I adore their sounds. Really fun birds :)
