Friends hen party abroad25

Hi all,
My friend is due to get married end of next year and want her hen party abroad (my guess, around June time).
I am going to be maid of honour - let me start by saying Iโm not really a marriage person and generally I think the whole extravagance of it is really OTT. Friend is the opposite, wants a big white wedding etc - absolutely fine! Itโs her and her husbands to be day and it needs to be what they want.
Anyway, as Iโm maid of honour Iโm already feeling a lot of pressure. Hen party needs to be abroad, 20+ people are to be invited. She has expressed a wish to go to Dubai originally (which is insanely expensive!). I have got a few locations in mind in Europe, the whole thing will end up costing everyone probably ยฃ600+ plus with flights, accommodation, meals out and food still. She wonโt be happy with something cheap, itโll have to be a nice villa, nice restaurants etc.
I am (like most of her friends) saving to buy a house atm. She had her house paid for her by her parents. She is with a wealthy, older man and they really have no problems at all. She also has friends that are barely in work at the moment, are on low wages etc.
When I spoke to her mum about budgets for the hen, I said I wouldnโt be looking to go anywhere too pricey so as many people can come as possible. Her mum basically said โjust go where Susie wants - people will have to find a way to afford itโ.
Her mum also alluded to us paying for her trip - splitting the cost between all of us. I nearly lost it!
The whole thing has just really stressed me out and made me quite cross. Obviously, friends getting married is really exciting but why do we have to be SO out of pocket for their choices.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Do you pay for the bride, even if itโs abroad? How can I cut costs and still make it nice for her?
Rant over - I donโt know whether Iโm being totally unreasonable and need to just suck it up. And Iโll end it by saying I love her to bits!

Thanks so much for your advice. I definitely wonโt book a thing until I have all the cash.
As a PP said, god knows what kind of restrictions we will be living with by then in terms of travel (especially in large groups). I really hope we donโt end up
... keep reading on reddit โกI'm going to post the first round here, and link to the full draft (9 trades and 4 rounds) for those who want to look at the entire thing. Jameson Williams' injury and finding out a few players have announced their return to college over the past several days has caused some last minute changes so if the player drafted under the Rounds sheets doesn't match the player in the "Draft Picks by Team" sheet, please let me know.
To see the full 4 rounds, click here!
Jacksonville Jaguars - OT Evan Neal, Alabama - This pick will depend on what Jacksonville does in the offseason. If they re-sign Cam Robinson, than drafting another tackle doesn't make sense and instead they will look at one of the top two edge rushers. However, if Robinson is allowed to leave and Taylor slides over to LT, the Jaguars will be in need of a new RT. Enter Neal, an absolute unit of a man who will use his strength to bully any defender who lines up across from him. Neal played both LT and RT in college, but projects best as a RT in the NFL.
Detroit Lions - EDGE Aidan Hutchinson, Michigan - The Lions are in a position where they could can go BPA with all of their picks and no matter who they take, it will probably fill an area of need. Whether Hutchinson or Thibodeaux is the better player will be hotly debated leading up to the draft. With the #2 overall pick the Lions go with the local kid in Hutchinson. I believe he offers a little more versatility when it comes to where he can line up on the field, which will allow the Lions DC some more flexibility with his defensive packages.
Houston Texans - EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux, Oregon - Houston will be happy with whomever is available at #3 because they can't go wrong with any of the players. Thibodeaux is an excellent pass rusher, and will be needed on a team that was one of the worst at sacking the QB in the NFL this past season. And he's not a one trick pony, Thibodeaux is also adept at stopping the run and has improved his tackling in open space.
New York Jets - S Kyle Hamilton, Notre Dame - The New York Jets need a lot of help on defense. Kyle Hamilton might just be the best player in this draft, and has enough talent and skill to offer the Jets a lot of versatility in their defensive schemes. If the Jets want Hamilton to play in the box, line up at nickel, rush the passer, or play deep coverage, he will do it and do
Iโve seen a lot of requests for mafia romance lately and wanted to add my updated list of ranked MR reads.
MR is my favorite thing to read. Why? The suits. The cranky MMCs. The mental image I have of David Gandy for every damn mafia MMC I read (I was going to include a pic but iโm sitting next to my husband and worried my wine-induced butterfingers will accidentally airdrop him a photo instead, google him!). The arranged marriages that force sheltered FMCs to adapt. Thereโs always a housekeeper with a chip on her shoulder and a crazy ex-side piece ready to come out of the woodwork. The jealousy. The idea of having 24/7 security and a driver. The MMCโs tender nicknames for the FMC. The shenanigans when the FMC inevitably forgets sheโs a mafia girl living in a mafia world and does something incredibly stupid to put herself in danger. The MMC who absolutely loses his mind with worry when this happens despite not being capable of love. The MMC who lives and dies by his mafia code until he has to choose between said code and his wife.
Mafia romance usually has some dark elements to it and is NOT for the faint of heart. Tread lightly with this list if youโre a newb. If youโre depraved like me then enjoy.

Hi friends! I made a comment about this in a thread recently and was asked to turn it into a separate post, so here we are! I very much welcome a diverse range of opinions on the topic, so please do share below :)
I donโt feel strongly about either of these women but I do feel like itโs a little strange to me that weโre bordering on simping for Katrina a bit (okay, admittedly I hate the term as much as I you do, but I couldn't think of a better word). I understand that she, like everyone, deserves happiness but this level of calling her a saint, the most beautiful bride, etc is giving me vibes of like when white women travel to India and people trip over themselves giving them free food, gifts, etc. Katrina has carved out a space for herself in Bollywood and she deserves credit for that but it also meant pushing out a lot of darker skinned, fully Indian women in an industry that was already rife with colourism. She has reaped the fruits of being โbrownโ while suffering none of the troubles (colourism, racism, discrimination).
What does it say to our young girls that these are the beauty ideals we praise, or that Katโs past transgressions are happily glossed over now while other Indian womenโs histories are constantly rehashed to demean them? Itโs a little bit of a halo effect, and I donโt think weโre looking at it in the usual self aware eye we usually take to these matters, imo.
I apologize for the essay-ish length of this, itโs just been in my mind lately. What do you guys think about this?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
We look awful in these spots. Hopefully we can sign some mid-elite FA players. These spots are our primary target for FA, TE and RG are must.
Hutch, Kalaftis, Hamilton, Thib, Dean are our 1sr round pick candidates playing Edge S and LB. I like Hamilton and Dean but would be nice to sign the Saints' safety and pick someone else.
McBride could be reachable TE with our second round pick. He can be paired with veteran FA TE.
Moore, Davis and Berrios does not look bad but can't see a sure WR1 here. Adams is gonna be tagged, Godwin might be reachable after having knee injury. There are a few possible WR1s that hits the market so low possibility here.
Ridley can be good if his mental condition is cleared. We can use one of our second round pick but need to be very careful.
Hall, Echols and MC2 looks ok but hope we sign a vet CB. Hall is no doubt a starter and possible CB1 but we need at least a CB2 we can rely on.
WR prospects are deep but not last year top 3 level. Wilson, Wliams and Burks are the names I see the most. If any of them look ahead of the pack or can play like Jeferson or the top 3 rookies I'll definitely want him with our Hawks pick.
Wilson has size issue, 6ft tall. He runs fast, has great route running and can jump high to catch the ball. Burks has shaq hands, is great athlete, high YAC and has teamspirit. (Thats what I heard) His weakness is route running and this makes him a low floor high ceiling pick. Williams looks really good on highlight films. His weakness is his iffy blocking. MiLF likes run game and we already have Moore and Berrios who are bad at blocking.
Stiingley is listed as top CB prospect. Imo he has the biggest talent of this class. Played his freshman year and was out for 2 yrs and thats a red flag. Whether its from injury or work ethic, either one is a problem. I'm strongly against Stingley at this point.
Rotation We need a RB for Carter and we can easily pick one with 3rd or 4th round pick.
O line Mekhi (Fant) AVT McGovern FA Fant(Mekhi) looks good to me. Even if Becton's not improving, if we sign Scherff the O line will be a top 10.
Do your worst!
This is my Just For Fun Two Round Mock. I am not an expert like Gouge so lower your expectations. I may not give a blurb for each pick if I don't feel like it. This is Just For Fun so please be respectful with critiques in the comments.
1. Jags - Kayvon Thibodeaux EDGE Oregon
With Cam Robinson potentially leaving in FA, they could consider Neal here. But the upside of pairing Thibs with Josh Allen is too high to pass up.
2. Lions - Aidan Hutchinson EDGE Michigan
The Lions get some much needed effort getting at the passer with the local kid.
3. TRADE: Broncos (from Texans) - Matt Corral QB Ole Miss
The Broncos trade a 2023 1st and maybe a 2nd too, not sure what it would take with the Houston Texans. They have a contender level roster in a loaded division and need to get ahead of Carolina and potential trade up candidates like WFT, Pitt, etc. to secure a QB. As for the Texans, they need to make up for the loss of capital that Bill O'Brien bled out of the organization. They have a ton of holes and can still get a top 10 player.
4. Jets - Kyle Hamilton S Notre Dame
Saleh will be salivating at the chance to scheme up a safety with as much versatility as Hamilton. They might have gone corner, and could still address it later, but their young CB's have played above expectation this season.
5. Giants - Evan Neal OT Alabama
What luck, this is a dream scenario for NY who needs serious help on the line of scrimmage.
6. Panthers - Ikem Ekwonu OT NC State
With Darnold already costing $19MM in 2022, the Panthers opt for the sensible choice and bolster a tattered offensive line rather than add another QB to the roster.
7. Giants - George Karlaftis EDGE Purdue
NY shores up the other side of the ball and adds some needed pass rush.
8. Falcons - Nakobe Dean LB Georgia
Dean's ability to attack the run and blitz the passer is an attractive option for a Falcons defense with only a handful of bright spots.
9. Texans (from Broncos) - Derek Stingley CB LSU
Texans land a potential difference maker in the secondary that they may have taken at 3 overall anyway. Add in some 2023 picks and you can't beat it.
10. Jets - David Ojabo EDGE Michigan
Five pass rushers in the Top 10 seems crazy, but with so many teams either not in a position or not in need of a QB, the edge class dries up quick. Ojabo is unpolished but Saleh should be able to develop and extract his potential as good or even better than just about an
The Season's End is approaching pretty quickly, and as teams get slowly locked into their playoff positions, the time for fixing a team's needs is already upon their offices, and they turn to the college scheme, which is about to finish their season with a championship game. So, let's do this mock, where I'll use a combination of realistic scenarios and my pick choices for teams. Let's go.
1.1 - EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux - Oregon, New York Giants (VIA Jacksonville; 2022 1.1 and 2022 Third Rounder for NYG 1.08 and 1.05)
How do you even start to fix the Jaguars? Sure you'll be able to grab Kayvon Thibodeaux here, but that doesn't help what's going on the other side of the ball, with Trevor Lawrence, your generational QB getting thrown to the dogs. You take this chance to get two top 10 picks, instead of one where you can benefit from getting your team more talent off the bat. Now for the Giants: Thibodeaux is the dream. A 3-4 Chandler Jones-like Pass Rusher that can downright dominate and redefine a defensive front. Having Ojulari, Williams, Lawrence and Thibodeaux can justify the Giants trade up, and despite Gettleman being fairly incompetent, I'm sure they can throw some money at the Guards in this market to fill up that hole. (They still have their early 2nd rounder!)
Yeah I get Giants fans won't love this one, but there's not really a lot of places you can go with this team. I'd rather take a player like Kayvon and grab a stud on OL with the early second. Worth remembering that Gates IS coming back, and they can very well get an instant starter at RG in the thirties while plugging the hole at LG in free agency. That's how much the first overall pick is worth, and it may be worth it in the long run.
UPDATE: I'd probably prefer to go Neal and Linderbaum there. Phenomenal. :D
1.2 - EDGE Aidan Hutchinson - Michigan, Detroit Lions
The Lions invested a good share of their picks last year on OL/DL, but there's a slight hole of talent that remains at the EDGE Rusher position where Hutchinson would be perfect for them. He's an in-state talented pass rusher who's a fantastic leader on defence, with some phenomenal tape that shows him demolishing the passing game of opposing teams. Having him and Okwara on the line will be reminiscent of the Ojabo-Hutch duo which was the most dominant pair in this year's college football season.
1.3 - EDGE George Karlaftis - Purdue, Houston Texans
Three pass rushers in a row. OKAY. Truth is, Tytus Howa
... keep reading on reddit โกDetroit Lions - EDGE Aidan Hutchinson, Michigan โ Detroit is a team with many needs. In a battle between Hutchinson and Thibodeaux as the best player in the draft, the Lions go with the hometown kid.
Jacksonville Jaguars - OT Evan Neal, Alabama โ While the stories of Trevor Lawrence running for his life every game are over blown, giving the new franchise QB a clean pocket to throw should be the Jaguars top priority.
Houston Texans - EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux, Oregon โ A pass rusher isnโt their biggest need but the Texans canโt say no to the highly talented Thibodeaux.
New York Jets - EDGE George Karlaftis, Purdue โ The Jets defense needs help at all levels. Karlaftis might be the third best at his position in the draft, but heโs still a top talent who will help the Jets get to the QB.
New York Giants - IOL Tyler Linderbaum, Iowa โ The Giants donโt know if Daniel Jones is the answer because heโs rarely had a chance to throw in a clean pocket to show what he can do. Linderbaum is one step in the process of improving the O-Line.
Trade #1 New York (Giants) trades #6 to New Orleans for #13, #44, a 2023 2nd Round pick, and a 2023 4th Round pick.
New Orleans Saints - QB Matt Corral, Ole Miss โ The Saints make the jump to nab the future face of the franchise for the next decade plus. Corral has improved year over year, and looks to be the top QB in this class.
New York Jets โ S Kyle Hamilton, Notre Dame โ I wasnโt kidding when I said the Jets defense needs help at all levels. Hamilton is a freakish athlete that will offer the Jets a lot of versatility in their coverage.
Carolina Panthers โ OT Charles Cross, Mississippi State โ The Panthers might have considered QB if Corral was still available. With him gone, they look to improve their O-Line in order to help protect whoever ends up taking the snaps for them.
Atlanta Falcons โ CB Derek Stingley Jr., LSU โ Stingley would have been a Top 3pick if it wasnโt for the fact that he missed most of this season after having surgery on his left foot. A healthy Stingley paired with Terrell would give the Falcons one of the best CB duos in the NFL.
Philadelphia Eagles โ CB Andrew Booth Jr., Clemson โ The Eagles are another team that needs to address every level of their defense. Booth should give them a solid CB2 to start the season, and will be someone to eventually take over for Slay at CB1.
Philadelphia Eagles โ WR Garrett Wilson, Ohio State โ Hurts has shown pro
