A Blue Moment... Pitching a Fit

And... Laughing at myself for the fit. After the year I've had, I finally got to the point where it was supposed to be done.

I'm going to see my surgeon Tuesday. I have one of those impossible questions to ask him. How do I tell the difference between healing nerve pain and pain that might mean big scary things?

I'm already exhausted from being what I can tell might last a while... A hypochondriac over every little thing. I don't want this for my world.

And the fit I'm pitching relates. Several big things, like my stove and water heater are not working. It's the week before Christmas. No one is working. How many bits can break before I crawl into bed and stay there?

It really is crazy town in my little world. I'm not sure how to get through the week, except baby steps. Thanks for reading my rant.

I want to put together a season highlight reel of Eck getting irritated by bad pitching. What are some of the more memorable moments from this year, besides Brooks Kriske and Ryan Yarbrough?

I'm probably going to have to comb through The Ecktionary twitter account timeline to get most of them, but I thought I'd try a little crowd sourcing first

Why are moments limited to pitching and hitting?

I’d love to see some different fielding moments, like a diving catch, runner thrown out at home from the outfield, runner caught stealing, etc. Some of them might be considered β€œtoo easy” but at least it changes things up a bit.

Intentional walking the first batter in pitching moments

I am not sure if this is something that’s already been discussed and I’m just way late here but every pitching moment that DOES NOT have giving up runs as part of the challenge, I always intentionally walk the first batter of the inning. I have two main reasons for doing this:

  1. You pitch from the stretch from then on and I am just trying to get the moment over with as fast as possible. This helps speed up everything especially with pitchers that have insanely long windups.
  2. The whole point of these moments is just getting outs. If I’m not trying to strikeout a certain amount of batters it’s just getting outs as fast as possible. By walking the first batter I have now turned any ground ball into a possible two outs instead of just one.

I am not sure if anyone else does this or this is a dumb philosophy but wanted to toss it out there and see what everyone else thinks

EDIT: Yes I am a first year player

Advice to the noobs to make pitching Moments an easier experience

Change pitching meter to β€œClassic”

Now you only have to press a single button to throw the pitch, hold it if you want the pitch to be faster but less accurate.

You’ll no longer have to worry about timing the pitcher’s windup, just press your pitch and pick where you want to throw it and sit back.

Play some music on Spotify or in the background and just let the game algorithm do its thing.

The worst thing is concentrating for a few innings while using meter or the new pinpoint meter, then allowing that run or hit and having to restart the moment.

So change the meter to Classic and sit back.

I need help trying to recall an on-field moment: A pitcher (reliever?) who had been pitching poorly threw at a batter. The broadcasters emphatically accused him of doing this because he gave up/didn't want to be in the game anymore. He was visibly upset on the mound, continued after he was pulled

Maybe around 2014 if not a couple years earlier. Shaved head? Beard? Maybe a brewer? Not Mike Fiers though lol.

Red-faced/upset as he sat in the dugout after finally getting pulled.

I'm not confident in my description of his appearance or team. I think it did happen sometime in the 2010-2015 range though.

It's the only time I remember an MLB player being called out for clearly giving up on the field (a la Mavs legend Rajon Rondo).

Moment of Appreciation for Sean Doolittle, Breaker of Molds. A 1st round draft pick in 2007, after 1,000+ PA's as a 1B, he converted to pitching. He had 1 MiLB pitching appearance going into 2012. Then, after just 26 IP in the minors, he hit the MLB & had a 3.04 ERA & 11.4 K/9 in 44 G. Since then...
  • ...he has become a 2x All-Star and closer of the Nat's
  • 2.42 ERA in 20 G in postseason with 7.67 K/BB
  • Only active player with 350+ G and K/BB over 6

Please get rid of 9-inning pitching moments.

It’s the most miserable thing ever to do these moments. It’s complete RNG pitching to the CPU, they will either have at-bats designated to driving up your pitch count by fouling off 10 balls in a row, or they will hit a no-doubter. Complete game shutout moments are the dumbest thing in this game by far.
