Just witnessed two guys refusing to move out of these seats. In fact one only moved once he was asked by a carriage inspector. I really don’t understand these people when there are dozens of seats free on the train. Yes it’s a rant, yes it’s only Tuesday morning
Ok so before i start i need to mention i live in a very small town. We have a population of about 10,000 and 30-40% are older than 60. Most of the local jobs are looking after the elderly or farming. This is just a little story i felt like i had to share. It was so wholesome and i believe ive made a new friend.
So i got my onewheel for my daily commute and i love it! Pint is a great size and fits well under my desk at work. I was on my way to work this morning and an elderly lady who lives a few doors down from me pulls up right next to me on her little red mobility scooter. She looks me in the eyes and started counting down. I was naturally very confused.
5.... 4.... 3....
She whispers to me between numbers "Eat my dust tech boy, my scooter has red stripes"

She gets to one and screams "GOOOOOO".
I strait up have never seen someone speed up so fast on one of these scooters. She goes flying down the footpath (Its about 7am so only a few people around) and reaches the first corner. I decide to entertain the idea and race to catch up. I reach her after about 20 seconds and we round a second corner together. She looks over and me and say "Last one to the coffee shop is shouting drinks" and fucken floors it again. I have now officially realized that these scooters can go REALLY fast.
In the end she beats me to the coffee place by about 15 seconds. We had a great conversation about how far technology has come from when she was a little girl and she invited me over for lunch one day. Thats it really. There's no moral to the story, Just fun!

Hi, I will be visiting Riga with a disabled family member and wasn't able to find anywhere to hire a mobility scooter while we're there. Anyone know anywhere we could hire one in or around Riga? E-Scooters are not an option as she can't stand up for long periods of time and also does not have a license anymore due to reaction times.

I just got the call that my insurance approved paying for my very own mobility scooter.
I have been barely able to rent the $272/month mobility scooter while waiting to see if mine was approved. (In fact, as a Christmas gift a good friend of mine paid this past month of the scooter for me because I could no longer afford it)
This is life-changing.
I'll be able to go wherever I want!
I won't be in immense pain just trying to walk with my walker my maximum of 40 yards!
This changes everything and I'm beyond grateful for the medical professionals that made this happen.
If anyone else needs mobility aid make sure to advocate for yourself and never give up even if you at first get denied! I feel it is our right to be able to get to where we want to be. :)
