[Question] I am king of Frisia, independent. My Heir is duke of Normandy, of my dynasty, but is vassal to the king of Middle Francia. What happens when I die?

I am wondering whether my heir will become king of Frisia and take Normandy with him, or whether he somehew stays vassal of the king of Francia.

What would be the best way to get the most out of this situation?

Vanilla game, no mods.

Edit: succession everywhere is gavelkind.

Back story duke of Normandy

In the year of 911 during autumn the Treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte was signed between King Charles the 3 of west Francia and Rollo a viking leader. In the past year Rollo and his men had attacked Paris and had several battles with Charles and his barons. However Charles deiced to have talks with Rollo, these talks resulted in the treaty. The treaty gave Rollo the land between the river Epte and the sea and the city of Rouen "in freehold and good money". In return Rollo would protect the coast from viking attacks. Rollo also agreed to be baptized taking the Christian name Robert and married one of Charles daughters, Gisela. This is an accurate image of the lands Robert controlled in 913. This is Roberts family tree.
