A list of puns related to "Clove Pink"
I have some NAVA valentineβs first impressions to share! I ordered Vanilla-Rose Clove, White Sandalwood Vanille, N8, Tut Ankh Amun, Nerfertiti, Cobra Venom and Smenkhere. I am only going to review the valentineβs day releases for now. I may go back for a bottle of Amber Beetle and Polychrome. I tried Amber Beetle in the past and really liked it.
Eternal Ankh Pink - White Amber Absolute, Powdered and reconstructed oil of Egyptian Vanilla Husk, Vanilla fleck, African White Vanilla Absolute, Amber Resin, Bastetβs Amber, Pink Sugar and a touch of Crimson Musk. I was never a big fan of Eternal Ankh. Itβs nice, but itβs a bit aquatic to me and Iβm not a fan of aquatics in general. I like this version much better! I still get a hint of the aquatics, but the sweet pink vanilla really makes this much more enjoyable to me. Mostly I smell sweet vanilla with some musk and aquatic notes (which I know arenβt listed, but itβs what I always smell with EA). I am not getting the amber.
Vanilla-Rose & Clove- Papua New Guinea vanilla bean whole, Moroccan Rose Absolute, Bulgarian Rose Absolute, eNVie parfum Black Rose Petal and Blood Rose Petal Absolute, Crystalline Absolute, Vanilla Absolute 40, and Indonesian Black Clove Bud. Beautifully layered but beautiful worn alone or as a suggestion for scenting your car on a tissue or handkerchief. I never liked rose much until I tried NAVAβs Cairo Rose Santalum, OP: Bastet and Polychrome. I still donβt buy roses from anyone else. This. Is. Excellent. It started off really spicy. It reminded me of carnation but I guess it was the cloves. That calmed down and now itβs NAVAβs beautiful, jammy rose note. Oh my, itβs so beautiful, I cant stop huffing my wrist. The clove seems mostly gone now. This is a sweetened, jammy rose, similar to what I get from OP: Bastet, but without all the incense notes. Itβs beautiful. Backup bottle worthy.
White Sandalwood Vanille- White Sandalwood, White Rosewood, Bergamot, Orange & Lemon Rind, Vanilla Bean raw, Crystalline absolute and White Ginger stirred and sifted for this perfume. I was most excited for this one. Vanilla and sandalwood are two of my top three notes (amber being the third). And no one does vanilla or sandalwood quite as well as NAVA. I own many iterations of this combination by them (and a few other companies). Guys, this smells like soap. SOAP βΉ If I really try hard I think I am picking out some of the citrusy notes. But I am not getting any of my beloved

I've been fully obsessed with indies for the last year (this community saved me from going crazy in this pandemic!) and have started to amass quite the collection - particularly from my #1 favorite house, Solstice Scents. I totally get why the brand is so well-loved here. The aesthetic, the blends, everything about Solstice just does it for me. I've got the best hit rate with them, bar none. At least of the houses I've tried so far. I've been meaning to do this for a while but I just keep collecting more samples π
A bit about my tastes - I'm a certified vanilla freak. I also love woods, green scents, atmospherics, ambers, gourmands...the list goes on. I'm open to a lot. My biggest death notes are licorice, marshmallow, and red musk.
I'm rating everything according to my own personal taste and wearability. Everything I've tried is very well blended, true to description, and would work for someone. I have a mix of EDPs and oils, I'll indicate which I have for each. If I've got a scent in both formats I'll write how they differ. The longevity for all of these is about the same between oils and EDPs, btw. 3-4 hours for oils and 5-6 hours for EDP, unless otherwise specified. All right, buckle up, people. Here we go!
-Cardamom Rose Sugar (Brown Sugar, Cardamom EO, Moroccan Rose, and Bulgarian Rose) I hate to start off on a bad note (no pun intended) but this is one of the few scents that did not work for me at all. I found the rose to be metallic and sharp, mixed with cloying maple syrup. The cardamom is there and it is SPICY. It's spot-on, I think I just like the smell of cardamom + rose + sugar less than I thought I would. I have this in oil format. 4/10
-Conjure (Vanilla, Amber, Cedar, Spices, & Cauldron Smoke) The ultimate Stevie Nicks-long-hair-flowing-dress-casting spells scent. When I first got it it was nothing but a baby powder bomb, as I had read in other reviews. I heeded the advice of just leaving it alone for ~6 weeks and this baby transformed. It went from one note powder to a layered, perfectly balanced witch scent. And it keeps getting better with age! The spices are punchy, mostly allspice. Not too heavy on clove. The smoke is subtle and not BBQ at all. It dries down to a slightly powdery amber/woody vanilla. I love it but I don't reach for it much, honestly. I wear it when I do rituals or dress like Stevie π I have this in oil. 8/10
-Foxcroft *(Decaying Leaves, Rich Black Soil, Dry Leaves, Fall Air

Beef has been a real issue for me to learn how to cook. I didn't learn how to make the perfect steak until 4 years ago. Cooking is my passion and I tend to stick to savoury foods although I have mastered making scones.
Roast beef has always been a dream for me to master. Or at least make it well enough to enjoy.
I am stunned and ecstatic and wanted to share with people that care about food as much as I do!
To go with the roast beef I made a garlic herb butter. If I could I would have it again right now and possibly every day for the next few days.
Method and recipe...
My first rule for mastering steak was to get it to room temperature. That is the one thing that made a difference.
I brought the roast to room temp and I made a mixture of salt (Himalayan) and just under a tsp of baking soda and rubbed it into the meat. I actually used too much baking soda, but zero f's given.
I seared the meat on all sides until it was lovely and seared and then roasted it at 200 until it reached almost rare temp. I then let it rest for what seemed like the longest 15 minutes of my life. I am being dramatic. A couple of minutes would be added to that resting time as I messed about trying to decide cutting board or plate for carving and then had to transfer it.
I carved into it and it was amazingly pink in the middle. Beautiful. It was proper roast beef.
There was one end slice that I could taste the baking soda a bit but the rest was brilliant. I don't know if the baking soda helped or not in making it tender or if it is like my steaks where room temperature meat and resting makes all the difference.
The garlic butter was roughly 4 tablespoons of French Salted butter, one short sprig of fresh young rosemary, 1 tsp of chopped parsley 4 chopped cloves of smoked garlic, juice of the smallest lemon I've ever seen (roughly 1 tbs) and salt and pepper.
I melted the butter and mixed in all the ingredients... By using a Ninja bullet. I was lazy after a huge admin day and didn't want to chop...
Edit to add method/recipe. And... The photo taken while searing it: https://imgur.com/a/TilvGAl Edit: baking powder to baking sodaπ

So I started getting super into indie perfumes around September 2021, and I randomly started thinking about what types of perfumes my family members would wear. I started coming up with ideas of perfumes based on things theyβre interested in and thought itβd be funny to find a perfume that replicates that thing in uncanny indie fashion. My family members never really wear perfumes so I was mostly guessing how to go about it, but it was still a fun experience, so I wanted to write down some reviews for what I ended up getting them. IMAM was my greatest source for ideas, so big thanks to the saints who write up reviews/suggestions.
My idea was to get them two perfumes each: one being a βweirdβ/realistic perfume thatβs trying to replicate something specific they like, and the other being a general perfume that I thought they might like. I knew I was only going to get sample sizes because a) I was guessing what they might like, and b) they donβt really wear perfumes so my assumption was they would sniff it, say βneatβ and then tuck it away on a shelf. Which is fine by me as this was mostly for my amusement anyway.

For my mom:
One of my momβs favorite flowers is hyacinth, so I decided pretty early that I wanted to get a hyacinth perfume for her. I honestly thought that would be a pretty simple task, but thereβs a surprisingly limited amount of perfumes that both focused on hyacinth and were currently available (I was looking for this during the fall, after all, and not the spring). I found several perfumes that did have hyacinth, but it seemed to be a secondary note or the perfume just seemed like it would smell like a jumble of flowers. I also donβt really know what hyacinth smells like. Iβve definitely smelled it before, but itβs hard to remember, and itβs only a spring flower so I couldnβt really sniff for reference. When searching for hyacinth perfume recommendations, Alchemic Museβs Ostara (a mix of hyacinth blossoms, myrtle, and wild heather fused with the soft green foliage of moss and ivy, gently grounded by a warm and earthy base of clove, cinnamon, and myrrh) was the one that kept popping up, so that was the first one I tried. However, when I got it it smelled rather soapy to me, so I looked for other ideas. Alkemiaβs Floralis (*spring rain, a breath of fresh aldehydes, a mist of water musk sett

##⭐ This week's flavor is . . . Flavor of the Year 2021
>>requested by Popular Demand
#This week, we're doing something a little different.
This is the 4th annual Flavor of Week "Flavor of the Year" post. Typically, we ask you to post your own recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Share flavor notes. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using a flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic. But most of all, remember to have FUN
All of that still applies, but this post is also an invitation to reflect and share your reflections. Think back over 2021.
#What are the best (and worst) flavors you tried for the first time over the past year?
What was the best flavor you tried this year, and why was it so good? What was the worst or most disappointing, and what was wrong with it? Or if you're one to look forward rather than backward, what flavor do you predict is going to get a lot of mileage in recipes, be it yours or others, in 2022? What overlooked flavor would you like to see get a little more love, or what flavor would you prefer to remove from existence because it's overused, overrated, or just plain bad? Do you have an unpopular opinion about a particular flavor or two and want to get those off your chest as we head into the new year?
This is the place where we're practically begging you to share all of that and more. Tell us all about it!
###🎉 Also, YOU COULD WIN A GREAT PRIZE!

A few months back I got it into my head that I was going to review as many black cat themed perfumes as I could get my paws on (har har). I tried to pick as wide a variety of perfumes as I could, while also picking mostly ones that are not disconned/FOMO scents. Below are my reviews of the scents that I selected, asking the questions of 1. do I like the scent and 2. does the scent actually remind me of my black cat Gus.
On to the kitties!

This is a mostly useless review because all of these were limited releases, so hopefully some get brought back! I bought them when they went on sale for the close of the season, and the TAT was accurate to what they advertised (ordered 11/26, received 1/7).
This is my first time trying anything from DE and something I noticed is generally they seemed very true to their scent descriptions. After hitting a bunch of misses from some BPAL samples my faith in perfumes feels restored by this purchase, but then I remember I can't buy FS in any of these and I have a moment of regretful self reflection at being a heaux for sales.
My personal rating reflects that I am not into gourmands and love atmospherics. But I wanted to have a secondary rating for smell accuracy because quite a few of these weren't "my style" and yet extremely true to what is advertised.
Big bad wolf
Leather, soft fur, dark musk, tobacco, and whisky
Impressions: Tobacco, whisky, honey, leather, oak
Rating: This smells exactly like a dive bar. 1/5 personally, 5/5 accurate.
Erlqueen
Ice white roses, star musk, pale green shadow leaves, white amber, cold stone, and dried broom branches
Impressions: lilac, powder, lavender, clean laundry, ice
Rating: This is a very frosty flower scent. To me this is the White Witch from Chronicles of Narnia, fake nice, fake smiles, over malicious cold intent. I almost feel like I can smell the amber/stone/green but it is fleeting under the ice and flowers and laundry. Wavers around the powdery line for me, 2.5/5. I would say 3.5/5 accuracy to the scent description but this is definitely 5/5 for the name accuracy.
Into the enchanted woods
Old growth California cedar, loam, redwoods, twilight lavender, a drop of honey mead, and falling leaves.
Impressions: pine, cinnamon, cream
Rating: This smells so much like pine leaves! Not everyone's cup of tea, but definitely mine. After it wears down a bit you get some cinnamon and creamy notes. I adore this scent, I want to be a pine tree, 4.5/5 personally and 5/5 accuracy.
Lighthouse
Cardamom coffee, sweetened with vegan honey, worn flannel, silver birch, and coastal redwoods.
Impressions: Lemon cake, cardamom, pine
Rating: This is a Swedish Christmas bread. You can get some pine notes when wet but it dries down to the most delectable moist slightly sweet cardamom bread. 2/5 for me but 5/5 edible and am looking up cardamom bread recipes now.

It's such a stunning collection because everything is so perfectly evocative of the season, and it spans so many aspects of winter - Christmas baking, winter coziness, trees, expensive and luxurious winter soap, incense, florals, herbals, you name it. In case any of you have been eyeing any of the Yule collection, I thought I'd write a roundup of all of my NCD Yule perfumes; turns out I have 15 of them!
Ordering specs: the website is easy to navigate, shipping is extremely affordable and items come very securely packed, and customer service is always spectacular. I don't think I've ever placed an order that took more than 2-3 business days to ship (unless I place an order the second a new collection drops, but even then it's always a week or less). Samples are generous - noticeably larger than 1 ml - in vials with wand caps.
Some of these samples were offered to me as press samples in exchange for honest reviews. I was surprised and touched to be asked, and delighted for the chance to try more of their Yule collection. Press samples are noted as such in the reviews below.
My preferences: I especially love incense, snuggly scents, golden amber, beeswax, non-gourmand vanillas, and white florals (though sadly I am allergic to lilies). I don't like hay, overly sweet gourmands, excessive musk, leather, patchouli, labdanum, or any really dark scents in general.
Here are the Yule reviews, in alphabetical order:
Arctic Fox [Soft amber nestled in sumptuous cashmere, steamed rice milk, winter white musk, and snow-covered fir trees] - unfortunately, as much as the notes indicate that I should love this one, it just really doesn't work for me. In the vial, it's all cashmere. On my skin there are mere hints of cashmere and fir, but it's entirely overshadowed by that musk, which my skin amps to an unpleasant animalistic level. I can tell it would be just so snuggly and gorgeous if not for my skin chemistry. [Note: I'm not quite alone in this; I've seen at least one other person mention the overpowering musk. On the other hand, a lot of people love this one, so it's really obviously a skin-chemistry thing, and perhaps I also have less tolerance for musk than most people.]
Cloak of Evergreens [Snow-covered spruce, i

let me start by saying that, while i mostly share my perfume reviews, wax has been a major focus of mine for a good while now. and, like all my interests and hobbies...when i go in, i tend to go in big. deep. way too much. i have probably tried around 175 wax vendors now, and while i have my favorites and standbys i order from repeatedly and regularly, i love to try new vendors and experience their scents!
warning: below is a lot of wax rambling...i don't see wax discussed as much on IMAM, so i blabbed for a bit about wax usage. skip down to the next bolded line if you're an experienced wax user or just dgaf!
if you do not use wax in your home, i'll tell you that it's a bit of a different experience than enjoying and testing perfumes. wax scents don't tend to "morph" or develop like skin-based scents do (although there can often be interesting differences between sniffing wax melts out of the package and seeing how they smell when they are fully melted and wafting throughout your home). another big difference tends to be expectation of scent complexity - while many vendors do make their own in-house scent blends, the level of complexity is just different. not in a bad way, but i think most (not all) wax melt scents tend to be more dimensional and straight-forward. and i like that! i really do.
a similarity between enjoying perfume and wax is calibrating your expectations through time and experience. the same way people might discuss perfume sillage, and how long-lasting a scent is during its wear - wax can be discussed the same way, but using the term "throw" instead. whereas sillage refers to the way a scent diffuses and performs on the skin, throw refers to the way the wax melt scent spreads and becomes noticeable throughout your home environment. and just like perfumes, you encounter different levels of throw - the way a scent might wear close to the skin, some wax doesn't throw much outside of the immediate area where you are melting it. while some people enjoy close-to-the-skin perfumes, i think most people who melt wax prefer a strong throw.
just like with indie perfumes, it takes time to figure out what that means. if you've tried one perfume house, you may think that house has amazing performance...then, you try another house, and you realize "oh, wait, maybe those first scents i tried were a little weak." it's the same with wax. the more you try, the more you start to develop your own preferences and expectations.
and the similarities d
