To be honest, there is nothing I know about Albania other than what tourism says. I personally am from Somalia (living in Canada now), and everything that is said about my country is either false or is from the perspective of someone who hasn't really lived there. I have come to the realization that there is a real disconnect between our culture/day-to-day life and our bigger "way-of-life" that is presented on a global scale. My question is for people who live in Albania - how is it really like over there in contrast to what the average foreigner probably doesn't know? How does it differ from what is portrayed through tourism and vacation bias? Do's and don'ts? I would love to educate myself on the world on a more personalized level.
I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to answer.
Obviously the support for the unification is very high in both countries. However, I am curious, if we back away from the nationalist and populist talk, in reality, how likely is it to happen with the current geopolitics in mind?
Besides, this question has been looming around for over a decade, and the people always were highly in favour of it, yet in reality nothing happened. Recently though there have been some renewed talks about this topic, but are they just empty politician words or is something truly on the move?
Would love to hear your opinion on the topic.
Pershendetje!
I am from the United States, learning Albanian. Iβd like to visit and (live) for a short period of time in Albania to sharpen my speaking :). ( looking to go over the summer for 3-5 weeks)
What place thatβs not to expensive would you suggest staying at? Iβm currently looking into Pogradec in KorΓ§e. Should I find a hotel/hostel to stay at there or should I rent an apartment? Is that even possible to do for only a month? Lol
How would you explain that the easiest way to someone that doesn't know anything about Kosovo/Albania/Macedonia?
Is it true that illegal human organ trade is very prevalent in Albania?
I mean is Organ Mafia even real?
I have read some articles saying that organ mafia is a made up thing because no mafia would have such surgeon skills and even if they did, it is very hard for them to sell it to someone, even if they sell it to someone there is a very low chance stolen organ will match with the patient
If so how prevalent? Like, what is the chance of a tourist getting caught by them?
