Hey, this is something I talked about a little bit in a let's play vid I recorded but curiosity (as well as obsessively digesting Whang videos) bugged me enough that I figured I should take it to TOMT and explain it in more detail to see if anyone else remembers it or could help me find it.
Basically, I'm trying to find a youtube video I saw when I was a kid.
I should explain that like, a while ago, there used to be these papercraft sheets of Mario characters that someone made, the idea being that you would print these sheets out, fold them and glue them a specific way to make your own little Mario figurines out of paper. There are a lot of those nowadays but there's a very specific set that I used to see everywhere online and in youtube videos that were made to mimic the style of the anime Gregory Horror Show. For a better idea of what I'm talking about, here are the sheets for Mario, Luigi and Toad. The video I'm looking for has these papercraft figurines in it. I know at the very least that the video had Mario, Luigi and Bowser in it, and it's possible it had Toad but I'm not sure. I don't know what specific Bowser figurine the video featured, but it's possible it could be this one.
The video was clearly made by a kid, possibly in his early teens from the sound of his voice. It was basically a "trailer" for a Mario fan film the kid intended to make, and it consisted entirely of footage of these Mario papercraft figurines sitting in places around his house. I don't remember if he used stop motion or puppetry to move the figurines, or if the figurines even moved at all. I'm pretty sure it relied solely on like, sweeping camera shots and epic trailer music, as well as trailer narration by the kid himself.
Which brings me to the most striking part of the video. I remember the very first line of the video being "Bowser's at it again, and this time he's attacking the World Trade Center."
I can't remember if this was supposed to be narration or if it was intended to be Mario talking, but the kid definitely didn't modify his voice at all when saying the line, so if it was supposed to be Mario he was giving him more of a "regular guy voice". But yeah, I can't remember much about the rest of the video, just that the basic plot of the movie was Mario and Luigi had to stop Bowser from attacking the World Tr
