AD Jamie Pollard tweeted a photo of the first visible signs of construction of the new pedestrian bridge. The project is a part of a grand vision to shift parking away from the sports venues and possibly redevelop the area directly by the stadium into an entertainment district.

Jack Trice was a football player at Iowa State College (University) who became the first African-American athlete for ISC. Jack Trice died due to injuries suffered during a game against the University of Minnesota on October 6th, 1923. He is the namesake for Jack Trice Stadium. Jack Trice Stadium is the only FBS stadium to be named after an African American.
On October 5th, 1923, the night before his second college football game, Trice wrote the following in a letter on stationery at a racially segregated hotel in Minneapolis/St. Paul (the letter was later found in Trice's suit just before his funeral):
>My thoughts just before the first real college game of my life: The honor of my race, family & self is at stake. Everyone is expecting me to do big things. I will! My whole body and soul are to be thrown recklessly about the field tomorrow. Every time the ball is snapped, I will be trying to do more than my part.
"I will" became synonymous with Jack Trice's legacy and can be seen in the tunnel as the Cyclones prepare to take the field along with numerous other locations in the new Sports Performance Center.

The symbol comes from the iconic uniform (https://content.sportslogos.net/news/2020/09/5f4e9dc162fe6.image_-750x487.jpg) worn by Iowa State back when Trice was a student-athlete.
Iowa State is about to complete its new Sports Performance Center project. As the crew is finishing up, they added the Jack Trice symbol which can be seen from the seats in Jack Trice Stadium. Iowa State University is proud of continuing on the legacy of Jack Trice and hopes for the drive and will for equality.
