So I was reminded today of an incident from my days of dating men, and thought it was too funny/sad not to share.
I had a jokey Tinder bio for a long time that was themed around me not being a bot - like "In my free time I like to enjoy human activities such as converting organic matter into energy" and stuff like that. At the end there was a little string of binary that if you ran it through an ASCII converter said "NO HOOKUPS". I assumed that most guys who were into that sort of thing would enjoy the little easter egg joke.
By far the most common response I got from men who did convert it was "hey, did you know the binary in your profile actually spells out no hookups in computer language lol".
These men thought it was more likely that I had randomly entered a binary string that spelled out a message relevant to my Tinder profile than a woman knew what ASCII was.

I have always been a strong advocate for taking Covid seriously. I got my shots just as soon as I was eligible, about 10 months ago. But then I got lazy.
Finally, last week I got my booster. There was no discomfort at all. Apparently a lot of people have no adverse symptoms to the third shot. It should have gotten it weeks earlier. I tend to think I am invulnerable. First mistake.
This last Monday I was driving my son back from Anime LA. We talked all the way home, I did not think about how he had just come from a high risk environment. We did not wear our masks in the car. Second mistake.
The next day, my son started showing Covid symptoms. He is also triple vaccinated, so the symptoms are mild. The day after that, I started showing Covid symptoms much more severe than my son's.
Urgent care told me my symptoms are mild, and sent me home to await the results of a test. It doesn't feel mild. It's kicking my ass. It seems it takes about 3 weeks for the booster to take effect.
Vaccines are no reason to relax mask vigilance.

I now have a whole different experience.

I have an uncle that was 87 years old when he fell from a 3 meters tall roof. He lost his vision and can't walk anymore but he survived and is doing well at 90. Me and my family survived a car crash with a few serious injuries but no permanent damage, the car was totalled so all 3 of us were really lucky.
I’m currently holding about 700,000 V2. I’m buying more every few weeks. Just a few hundred bucks here and there where I can spare it. Of course I’m only investing an amount I’m comfortable to lose.
I’m not even thinking when lambo… I’d just like to make enough to spend some more time doing things I love rather than being a full-time wage slave.
I’d love to just be independent and self sustained with a comfortable, modest income. Is this realistic or just a pipe dream?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m very hopeful and optimistic or I wouldn’t be holding. I’d just appreciate either a reality check or some backup, ideas or projections for encouragement to keep me dreaming.
