Hello All!
Iβm a newly diagnosed celiac and have just been feeling a bit overwhelmed and disparaging about it all- and am just eager to connect with other folks with celiac disease in a fun and social way.
I want to create a supper club in Portland OR for celiacs & am just testing the waters to see if there is any interest.
Obviously this is something that wouldnβt start until COVID simmers down- but my vision would be to have a monthly event where a group of us get together and go out to eat at a dedicated gluten free restaurant in PDX. I think there could be an ice breaker & just general meet & greet before or after as well. I envision this as a fun community building event more than an educational or support group space.

The title pretty much sums it upβ¦.
I have been doing private dinners and supper clubs events for the past year or so. On the 26th of this month, I have my first event that is open to the public. I am super excited about sharing my passion with more and more people. On the menu, I haveβ¦. 24-hour braised short ribs with gremolata and creamy polenta, butter poached lobster with a cauliflower custard and togarashi crisps, homemade potato gnocchi with vidalia onions in a creamy onion sauce(soubise), and finally carrot cake with peach marmalade and cream cheese meringues. The plan is to make these a monthly (hopefully more often) event! For tickets, check out my eventbrite.
I donβt want to bore yβall with my biography, but if you are interested in my cooking background or the types of dinners I have done, check out my website!
I would love to hear thoughts and opinions, even if you canβt attend.
Thanks guys!
EDIT: Sorry for such a delayed response, but thank you all for your support and suggestions!
I've read through this sub and all online reviews, but I'm torn here. I was thinking Smoky's but looking at pics online- the bad reviews are ...really bad. Some people say the steaks are amazing, others say they are really bland. The appetizers look sorta meh and reviews are really divided. For instance, their veggie cup looks like random uncut radishes, green onions, stuffed in a tub on ice. What!?
We've been to Tornado so many times. What would be your favorite supper club in Madison area? Can drive about 15 min outside of it, so could do Middleton, Sun Prairie etc.
I was also thinking Harvey House but someone said they spent 550 dollars for 3 people which seems insane. Money isn't really an issue, but if it's that overpriced and not great, I'm wary. Also was considering Heritage Tavern but are the portions too hoity-toity, do they have a good steak? Guess I could forgo the supper-club vibes for a good steak place elsewhere. I do know Rare is overrated. Please help!
Iβm trying to organize a supper club with some friends (ages: early to mid thirties) at some delicious Chicago restaurants. Weβre not as concerned with price, but more focused on ambiance and exceptional food. Looking for recs that you would make to a local. Please help!
I started a list, let me know if Iβm misguided in any of these ideas. Lol
