A list of puns related to "Sewer Line"
https://imgur.com/a/A1K2XJE
Weβve recently moved in and found an uncapped sewer line in our basement. It seems to be an access point for the sewer, located right where the two main house drains merge into one pipe and the whole system goes underground into the cityβs sewer lines. When you flush toilets, water rushes into the pipe and even splashes a bit out of the uncapped opening. Pretty gross.
Is there any reason why an access point to sewer lines in this location should be UNcapped? My immediate instinct is to cap it immediately, but Iβm not sure if there might be a reason it was left uncapped.
If weβre okay to cap it, what kind of cap can I order online or off the shelves for this purpose? Should I be able to do this myself easily without a plumber?
Very surprised by the answers. I would certainly value a century home with a new sewer line higher than a century home with a working yet original clay sewer line. But I am new to real estate. Thank you everyone for the contributions.
Hi all, relatively new home owner in West Seattle. The lot next door to me is being prepared for new construction and the builder/owner wants to scope my sewer and attach the his line in "at the 6in main." There's no existing utilities on the property, as it's never had a house before. I'm wary to let him do it as I've heard that makes a property undesirable and can lead to big shared costs down the road, but he mentioned in passing that it was already permitted.
My sewer line does run across his property, so not sure if that gives him any rights. I'm looking for advice from anyone who's run into something similar, or who can help guide me to the right resources.

Basically title β trying to remove this toilet flange and came across a copper toilet flange that is either cemented to the floor or somehow cemented into the drain somehow. Iβm afraid to prey too hard, as everything moves as one, so wanted to consult this sub as a progress in the bathroom demo. My main two questions:
-How to deal with this flange removal?
Any help appreciated
Edit β seems itβs soldered, not cemented (which makes a lot more sense). I have no issue leaving things be, but still think I need to remove the flange to do the floor, so interested in how to replace that flange at the end, and what to do if my new flooring is at a different height than how it was originally (ie if a new flange will also be at the wrong height as a result) Thanks!
The closest sewer line is around 40 feet (in a straight line). I am aware this will require a permit. Any help would be appreciated.
Will my and the neighborsβ yard need to be trenched to the street? And what happens at the street (~10β of sewer line pass under the street to a city main at an intersection)? Is there a boring method that could be employed? Thanks.
Our washer flooded our house yesterday so today we got two plumbers out. They determined out sewer line was collapsed and will need to be completely replaced. It will cost around $5,000. On our Homeowner's Coverage, we have "Sewer & Drain Damage - Extended Contents" up to $5,000 and "Limited Plumbing System Repair" up to $1,000.
Will either of those help cover getting out sewer line replaced? We can't get a hold of our agent until Monday and just want less stress.
Someone on twitter had dig up lots of missing dialogue that didn't appers in the game. In that we have dozens of S.T.A.F.F bot's voice lines, we have missing pieces of map (behind the level10 security doors, the utility tunnel that was mentioned in the beginning of the game), and most importantly, missing dialogue and sound effects of Vanessa.
We got running and sprinting as Vanessa (which indicated that at least at some point, Venessa was supposed to be playable) , we got interaction with other 3 of animatronics (it seems that we are commanding them as Vanessa), and we got dialogue with Glitchtrap(who might be our Freddy counterpart when playing as Vanessa).
Given all those, my theory is that we are supposed to play as Vanessa in the game, at first under Glitchtrap's control, using high security level to go through doors that we can't reach while playing as Gregory as some kind of shortcut, commanding other animatronics searching different areas in order to catch Gregory.
But at some point in the game, our goal shift into working with Gregory and trying to get out of this place, in its process, maybe forced to do certain objective for Glitchtrap, which finally explains why the dialogue we heard in the trailer never showed up in the real game------We only got half of the game, it will shows up when we get the other half when we play as Vanessa.
"you will do as i say you will bring me what i want and if you fail me, then you will, both of you, burn" is Glitchtrap talking to Vanessa and Gregory
p.s1: The conversation between MOM bot and DAD bot is kind of wired, it tells the story of a family falls apart, it could be the background story of Vanessa since itβs similar to the story we got in the recordings, but personally i would say it more strike me as the story of Aftons, due to the fact that in Vanessa's story the Dad is the one who got the custody of them both, and the mother is probably committed suicide somehow...anyway, the dialogue is listed as below, plz tell me what you be thinking of reading it.
βI am homeβ "you are home early" "i quit my job" "what about the children? we have a down payment on a new closet" "i do not know what i was thinking. i was compelled to leave my post" "this is no longer working. i am leaving. i am taking the children." "do not go" "may you be happy in the life you have chosen."
p.s2: In one of the sentry bot's dialogue, there's "I always come back..." which is pretty obviously pointin
... keep reading on reddit β‘I may be facing this situation sooner than I had hoped. Has anyone else been through this before? Do you have any companies to recommend? What did it end up costing in the end and what method was used? I was only able to find one previous post and it didn't have a ton of information so I thought I would start a new one.
Thanks and stay safe.
We share a sewer line with our neighbor. It runs down the property line about 100 feet to the street. We share the last 40 feet to the street. We are about to have some repairs done on this line. Are we legally responsible to pay for any repairs upstream from where our sewer taps into the party line?
Oregon, USA if that helps.
Long story short! Main sewer line clogged up 3 times in one week. Called plumber to snake it twice and clogging kept recurring. Called another plumber to camera inspect it. Found the blockage. Plumber installed 4β clean out in my front yard and got to the blockage. Guess what it was! A 15 ft pipe! Inside my main sewer line! Plumber said it was first time heβd seen such a thing!
I live on the first floor of a 3 unit condo building that just had its sewer line scoped and we found that roots had broken into the pipe right near the point where the pipe exits from under the house (videos linked below). The first plumber said that we only needed to replace the portion of the pipe that the roots had broken through and estimated digging down and replacing that portion of the pipe would roughly be 4.5k. We recently got a second estimate that said we should also change out the portion of piping just before the street since it appears there is some standing water in there. This plus fixing the rooted section came to roughly 11k.

I'm looking at getting a 3rd quote but thought I'd post here to see if anyone had thoughts. We aren't experiencing any backups in the house (I'm on the first floor so would likely see issues first) so it doesn't feel urgent but does seem like it is something that should be taken care of. As an aside I ever very limited knowledge on this and don't know if there are any risks by letting it run as is longer or bandaging it with a rooting or jetting. Any info is super helpful. Thanks!
Hey all, seems we're in the market for a sewer line replacement. We've gotten a rough quote from one company, and it's astronomical. I get that this is an expensive process, but I was wondering if anyone had companies they've used in the past and had good result from. Want to compare quotes.
I've lived in this home for about a year and didn't have any issues until about 2 weeks ago. Water from toilets was coming out trough bath tub. I called the plumber and the main sewer line was clogged. They ran a snake through the clean out and it unclogged. However 5 days later the same thing happened and at the same time too, around 10pm. Called the plumber again, and again, they unclogged it. Now, as I'm writing this, again, it's clogged and again around 10pm. I was going to schedule a camera inspection tomorrow morning. What could it be? This is very stressful.
Hey, y'all. We just bought our first home 6 months ago and we are already dealing with some major foundation & plumbing issues. We had an inspection & a post storm inspection (that was supposed to check all things plumbing), but neither indicated that there were any major issues. Since then our foundation shifted considerably (2" lower in some spaces) and we now have cracks running from the ceiling to the floor inside & outside :) (dying inside)
Our foundation folks came out and said we needed to have a hydrostatic test done to confirm there wasn't a leak in our lines. Austin Plumbery came out, took off our toilet, and confirmed there was a leak and then charged us $350 and took off. I'm not sure if they did the test completely, however, as now other plumbers are insisting they need to do the same test to figure out where the leak is.
Questions are:
Thanks in advance.
Hi everyone,
I am looking at a house that in the disclosure stated there is a cracked sewer line. My realtor says this can cost between $5-8k. Wondering if anyone has come across something like this? If I were to move forward and make an offer and itβs accepted, I would do an inspection with the sewer inspection.
Just curious any thoughts π of people who have dealt with this kind of issue.
Thank you!
Update 1: Went and saw the house. Realtor could see some foundation issues and some possible water damage to the house.
My realtor is suggesting we go about $5k under the price and then re-negotiate with the inspection. I am a little nervous to do this bc what if they donβt want to budge even with whatβs issues there are and we just paid for an inspection.
2nd thoughts are there is a house in a better neighborhood, about 25 years newer, smaller house by 350 sq ft, that is asking for $20k more but needs so many updates. Not sure the status of the roof, furnace, a/c, or hot water tank. I have not physically seen the house but the pictures are reflective of the house according to my realtor.
We tried to do a blind offer for the $20k less but the sellers will not budge. Even though there has been no offers in the 3 weeks on the market.
I am torn between 2 homes and not sure what to do. Both houses need work but one requires more $$$ up front. Idk if I can even honestly say that bc who knows with the possible foundation and water damage on the first house.
How do people make these decisions???
Update #2: We walked away from house with cracked pipe. Funny enough it already has an offer.
Back to looking at housesβ¦
Hi Rochester friends,
It's my first time to be a home owner and live in Rochester. My basement was backed-up with sewer and I called a plumber to unclog. He used 90-ish feet snakes to unclog from the sewer main line from basement and used a camera snake to show me:
He said I need to hire him to find the "clean-out" in my yard by digging up ~8 feet and a fancy beeping device (to locate the "clean-out"). He said once we dig the "clean-out", I can call the city sewer department to LET the deparment fix the city side and quoted the digging $3600.
It's my first time to deal with plumbing. I asked one of my neighbor who experienced the same trouble last spring. He just did the unclog but refused the fixing the main sewer line from home" My neighbor said the main sewer fixing (he refused it tho) quote he got is ~$2500, if his memory serves right.
How do you guys feel about the plan my plumber guy proposed? Is it a legit plan or a rip-off. Thanks.
