I mean just the whole sense of even when our goats retire not only can you see direct impact left on the generation after and selfless hockey has been not only a norm but an expectation… at times to a fault. But even all with that aside the fact people like zetterburg, krownwall, osgood, murphy and especially yzerman still want to stay around the team and the franchise is insane to think about. Yes other teams have involved retired players but i dont think nearly to this extent or amount.
I mean hell it took the lions like 20 years to get 2 people to like them… and one of then is a ram now.
I’ve been seeing lots of “is this normal” type posts for quality checks from the community here. I wanted to pop in and remind you that redwings are made by actual people, and not with the kind of human powered assembly line (i.e, sweatshop) a pair of Nikes or other fast fashion shoes may be made on.
I also want to remind you that the shoes are leather, and hides come with their own imperfections, skins are tanned and may have different shades across the same color.
For me, the human variable is part of what makes red wings so appealing to me. There’s a perfection in the imperfection.
Here are some things that are normal:
- small stitching imperfections w/ stitch length, line, and corner turns
- folding over of lining fabric along edges
- variances in leather color (light stripes, a darker patch) due to the hide’s imperfections
- your color shoes not being the exact same as another person’s same color shoes - shades are off
- after some wear, soles wearing down unevenly (this is generally due to your gait)
- after some wear, the front of one shoe lifting if you are in a profession/hobby where you kneel a lot (you tend to kneel the same way and your shoe adjusts to it)
Here are some things that are not normal:
- sole separation
- holes in the leather
- anything ripping or tearing with normal use (like the pull tab on the Chelsea’s)
- stitch tension issues like loose stitching or stitches pulling up
- super uneven stitches in very wobbly lines
This isn’t a comprehensive list and we see plenty of actual shoe issues on this sub, but I wanted to remind people that we are not paying red wing prices for perfect assembly line shoes but because most shoes in this brand are hand made by fairly paid people. Don’t put up with bad quality from them so they keep production standards high, but also remember that teeny imperfections are part of the appeal.
In Lone Survivor Marcus Lutrell estimates 80-200 Taliban had them pinned. Would 19 or so extra SEALs have made a difference and turned the tide or would they all have died anyway? I like to think they could've, but given the horrible terrain and being vastly outnumbered, I'm not sure what would've happened.
So last year I had a conversation with some Red Wings fans about how the future of our teams would look. I argued that the teams would be relatively even, and that the Sabres would be better than the Sens or Habs. I also argued that the Red Wings would be competitive with the Sabres, and fighting for the top step of the basement in the Atlantic.
Now every time I interact with any Wings fan, or post on anything Wings related, they all go crazy. They're talking about me in their subreddit even.
Like, I made a comment about when Tuch ran over Seider and they all start chatting about me.
So, what I'm asking for here mods is...
Either a "Fuck the Red Wings" flair for the whole subreddit, or maybe a personal flair that makes it clear that I'm the favorite of all Wings fans.

I am looking to get my first pair of iron rangers, currently I wearing size 10 DM boots made in England. I am wondering are the sizes fairly similar or is one size up or down needed? If anyone has been in this or a similar situation I'd appreciate any advice. Many thanks.
Hey all, i found this website which alleges to be redwings canadian site. it all looked pretty official until i saw the price for the same boot on the og american store. I cant be sure if its a scam or anything like that especially since the $210CAD only works out to $168 ish USD ... what do you guys think?
If it happens to not be fraudulent then i dont understand the price discrepancy.

I started listening to them at the beginning of the season. I like the fact that they post quick 20-30 min episodes each morning, but man I’m hoping they get a 3rd host or something to balance out the energy. Often they just sounds like a bunch of slappies fanboying. They need another guy to bring stats and informed takes in my opinion.
