A list of puns related to "Metastability In Electronics"
Hola. Recently I made a post regarding everyone's favorite Spanish speaking robot: Lopez the Heavy. Here I am once again ready to lay down some evidence proving Lopezβs metastabiliy. Feel free to ask questions or to disagree with me. Also note that I'm totally going off of memory in making this.
For starters, metastabiliy is the 4th stage of AI rampancy where an AI is considered fully human. An AI that we are aware of reaching this stage is, of course, the Alpha. As far as we know, Alpha did not go through any form of rampancy, he was simply always⦠Church (on a side note, Epsilon is not metastable, he simply remembers metastabiliy.). As Lopez does not appear to be a fragment nor does he act like the other fragments, rampancy does not apply to Lopez.
You may say, OK, so he's not a fragment, just a dumb AI. However, Lopez doesn't act like the dumb AI we've seen in the series. One great example is Sheila/F.I.L.S.S. Sheila always acts as a tutorial program that wants the best outcome for freelancer personnel. She never really shows emotion besides this designation and doesn't show much of a free will. However, she does help the Reds and Blues in season 13, but that was most likely a result of her believing that Epsilon is the Director. Lopez, however, shows different emotions, examples of which being him first being nice(ish) to Dos.0, anger, fear (towards Locus in season 12), sarcasm, pessimism, annoyance, happiness, creativity (using his body even though he lost his head), and intelligence.
Another way to prove Lopezβs metastabiliy is by looking at the Alpha; both Alpha and Lopez are just as human as the other; showing emotions and being capable of free will. Lopez is disrespectful and apathetic to the Red Team and even started a robot army. This, however, brings up the question: if Lopez can think for himself, then why does he hate Grif simply because Sarge programmed him to?
Well, you see, we can get this answer straight from the Director himself. βThese AIβ¦ they all come from somewhere.β Our Lopez is no exception. A basic robot kit probably would come with a very basic or no AI, so Lopez was modeled off of Red Teamβs current members; his ability to build robots, creativity, and hatred of Grif comes from Sarge, his intelligence and original obedience from Simmons, and his sarcasm and disrespect from Grif.
So what does this mean? Who cares that Lopez is metastable? Well, Lopez has many more possibilities given this status. Lopez could, most likely,

High-Tech Fourth Edition lists the weight of an electronic lockpicking kit as 3 pounds. This doesn't seem possible given the description to include cutting tools to gain access to an alarm system. A typical handgun weighs 3 or 4 pounds. Does anybody have any information if this was an error and has been corrected in errata? If not, any suggestions?
Don't anyone spoil it for me, but I strongly suspect I'm going raider.
It was an Apple turnover.
One made up by my dad! He's so impressed with himself for making it up he has told the joke where ever possible over the past few years!
