Edit: it's actually 34 years as /u/AceStarS pointed out
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned on here, but I got curious after the post about Shaq's 37 year run with a teammate in the finals coming to an end. After some data mining from basketball-reference, I believe I've made a list of the longest active streaks.
Jerry Stackhouse has the longest at 34 years with a few others at 32 years. I've still got some other stuff to look at, but thought this sub might find this interesting.

And it isn't because his fingers don't work.
Thinking about his Trae Young opinions, it's easier for him to explain away his criticism when it was on a podcast. He can say aggregators took his words out of context. Or that he didn't explain his thoughts fully. Or that if you listen hard enough, you'll hear that he was right about Trae all along!
When that criticism is written down, it's right there in black and white and harder to deny.
Like when he criticized the Magic for drafting Dwight Howard:
"The Magic are on the clock with the first pick. If theyβre smart, they take Emeka Okafor. If theyβre dumb, they take Howard. Itβs that simple." (https://grantland.com/features/nba-draft-diary-2004-bill-simmons/)
Or when he criticized the Pacers for taking Paul George over Xavier Henry:
I present two athletic perimeter guys for you, both freshmen:
Whom did the Pacers take? Naturally, George. Did I mention that their best player (Danny Granger) is a small forward? I love the NBA. (https://grantland.com/features/nba-draft-diary-2010-bill-simmons/)
Or when he predicted Derrick Williams would be "more effective" in the pros than Kyrie Irving, who he believed would make "maybe one or two" All-Star games:
*Our no. 1 pick? Yup β¦ Kyrie Irving. You know, because any time you can grab a freshman point guard who missed two-thirds of the season when you have $20 million of point guards on your roster, you have to do it. Weβll see how this goes: I see him settling somewhere between an extremely poor manβs Chris Paul and a rich manβs Mike Conley. Will he ever make an All-Star team? Itβs possible β¦ maybe one or two. One thing I donβt understand: Why does everyone keep saying this month that you βneedβ a good point guard to win? Didnβt anyone wa

The list below is copiedΒΉ from a Word Perfect 5.1 file last modified in the mid-1990s, a few months after my birth. My mother spent considerable time researching names per family origins, so the majority of the list is likely the fruit of that labor, with a minority of names thrown in courtesy of my father.
The name selection & culling process began with each parent compiling personal lists of viable names; then, the lists were cross-checked for names they had in common. At the same time, certain names were vetoed. Names vetoed for me included:
Mom's priorities were avoiding names at high risk for cruel nickname derivations, and names at high risk for mispronunciation. For example, though she thought my (Greek Cypriot) paternal grandmother's name was beautiful, she expected Americans would mispronounce the second part as 'filly' and nickname me as such.
Ruling out both grandmothers' names for me meant not adhering to Greek naming conventions. They made up for this with my younger brother; so much for all the research into boy's names). I do want to point out that people have certainly mispronounced my surname throughout my life (+ subjected both it and my first name to misspellings), but ah well, so it goes.
ΒΉ I've made minor formatting adjustments for convenience's sake and added gender headings, but otherwise haven't changed the contentβtypos left in!

There's no point, I just find this stuff mildly interesting.
Go post NSFW jokes somewhere else. If I can't tell my kids this joke, then it is not a DAD JOKE.
If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,
A Dad.
So far nobody has given me a straight answer
First off, I know Kelly is in his basketball prime and has several years of experience all of which are worthwhile. But, 1) he is expensive and if we pay him 20 million it will apparently cost around 80 million with the luxury tax, 2) he may not re-sign after this year.
With that being said, we traded Minnesota's 2nd rounder this year and Denver's 2nd rounder since we keep our first (almost surely) this year. Minnesota's second rounder is the best second round pick and Denver's will be 45-60 range.
So, would you rather have Kelly or these picks?
Some things to consider:
I looked at all the second rounders (picks 31-60) from 2007-2016 (spreadsheets from basketball reference)
Looking at the spreadsheet it turns out that a pick in the 31-45 range is significantly better than in the 45-60 range, so I looked at 2 groups: 1. all second rounders 2. second rounders selected 31-45.
**All second rounders:**
By BPM then the probability that a second rounder will have a better career than Kelly is 27%.
By Win shares per 48, the probability that a second rounder will have a better career than Kelly is 28%.
However, since we would have 2 second rounders, the probability that at least one of the players is better than Kelly (for a career) around 47% for both box plus minus and win shares per 48.
Around coin flip odds.
**Good second rounders:**
If we look at *good* second rounders instead, the picture changes a lot. For one, 30% of all second rounders never play in the NBA whereas only 10% of top second round picks never play in the NBA. SImilarly, 3 of every 4 second rounders play fewer than 4 years but if we only look at picks 31-45 then roughly 1/3 play more than 4 years.
Since the Minnesota pick will be around 31 and the Denver will be middle to botto

Now, before you label me a hater, I initially loved the idea of bringing more trams back to Sydney, I just wish that the new lines had been better integrated with the existing roads!
In my opinion, for the light rail to be a success, several sections of the track needed to be underground and away from traffic (similar to how the inner west line goes under Pyrmont Bridge Road on the way to the Star casino). Imagine how slow that journey would be if you had to stop there every time!
The layout of Sydney is so complex, so seamlessly integrating a new form of public transport was always going to be tricky. That being said, I feel that this project created a unique opportunity to think outside the box and create an engineering masterpiece, and something that would be looked back fondly on, in the years to come. Unfortunately, it feels like this project was designed by people who weren't from Sydney, so while it sounded good in theory, it doesn't work in practice.
There is no logical reason why a light rail which opened in 2020 should have to stop at traffic lights on main arterial roads and navigate other vehicles (I donβt mean on George st). Besides interfering with the flow and speed of trips, it poses major safety risks for both drivers and passengers. We can't rely on the 'she'll be right attitude', as it's impossible to guarantee drivers will always be switched on while in close proximity to the light rail vehicles. If there is an accident it will cause huge delays, not to mention potential loss of life.
There are several sections of the line that cross main roads when the speed of traffic is 60km/hr and above. While they have promised to properly time the traffic lights to accomodate free flow, I am yet to take a trip that had a clean run. The trams stop more than the number of stations, and all those minutes add up... and up... to a very long trip (longer than the bus) which is crazy, and not a good value proposition!
Here are some examples of problem areas and solutions.
When the L2 line crosses Alison road near the racetrack.
The track needed to descend shortly after the Royal Randwick station and go under Alison road. There is a lot happening at this intersection and the light rail should always get priority, but not at the expense of traffic flow.
Where the L3 line cuts through the middle of Anzac Prd/Dacey Ave.
Again, the line should have sloped down just after the Centennial Parklands Sports Centre and gone under the entire intersecti

Keep in mind, my son is 4 years old, so everything is an original to him.
I had to work late into the evening yesterday, and he was just going to bed when I got home. I had left home for the office nearly 14 hours prior, had a long day, lots of meetings, traffic, etc.
When I walked through the door, I was exhausted, run down, and starving. My wife hugged me and asked how my day was, and I replied, "Done. It was a good day, but has got me exhausted. I just want to grab a bite and go to bed. I'm hungry."
From my son's bedroom, I hear him shout, "Hi Hungry! Nice to meet you!"
Not only did it make me laugh, but I completely forgot about how hungry and tired I was. I went to his bedroom, and we laughed together about it. It was exactly what I needed.
