What do Americans think of The Troubles and the conflict between Northern Ireland/Britain and Ireland?
I grew up learning a lot about ethnic conflicts in the Middle East, Africa etc. but hardly ever learned about the Troubles which is interesting because it is a conflict where tension between Irish Catholics and Ulster Protestants. Considering there are many Americans who are of Irish Catholic heritage. How do Americans who have ties to that region feel about it?

Ottawa needs more transit infrastructure and fewer cars on the road. We made the right call building a train system, but the LRT system itself could not have been poorer designed, constructed and maintained.
Phase 2 will probably be another disaster thanks to little oversight from city council due to Jim Watson and his cronies forcing through its approval despite the Phase 1 ongoing failures and concern from our few responsible city councillors.

Iβve just finished reading βSay Nothingβ by Patrick Raddan Keefe. An unbelievable read that feels like a thriller fiction but is really an historical narrative and analysis of the Troubles through 4 main characters. It felt to me like a time machine into Irelandβs gritty, murky, surreal and absurd past. Gut wrenching in parts but totally fascinating overall. Couldnβt put it down.
An absolute must read for anyone interested in Northern Irish/Irish/British history or for history lovers in general.
