My bf wants to make Fan Tuan for lunar new year and I'm struggling to find what looks like a good GF version of Youtiao. I might just mess around with recipes myself and see what I can do, maybe a blend of caputo fioreglut and sweet rice flour could be good? Wanted to check and see if anyone had any experience and success with this first though! Thanks :)
Anyone know a place to get youtiao/Chinese donuts/fried dough sticks? Tried C-Fresh and all the Asian grocers up 2nd Ave but they don't seem to have them.
I'm making a Singaporean Bak Kut Teh for a dinner party on Saturday but due to something coming up for that day, i wont have time to make the fried dough balls that go in it.
I was wondering if there'a anything readily available in the US that would work as an easy substitute? I was thinking maybe funnel cake without the powder or frozen churros is they aren't sugared.
I have salted eggs, pork ribs, bok choy, chili sauce, and rice for the sides. Anything else you suggest?
