A list of puns related to "The Chronicles Of Amber"
Any of you seen the JJ Abrams show "Fringe"? There's a couple of nods to the books in that series.

I don't think I'm stretching things, pretty sure these were deliberate references. What do you think? Did I miss anything?
Roger Zealazny did a masterful job of writing this 2 saga series between the 70βs and the 90βs, my uncles told me about the series when I was in hs and loved every bit of it, but I never find anyone else whoβs read it.

So, the story starts with a little boy named Reyn diving in the sea for sunken treasure. He finds a chest and does some scuba diving mumbo jumbo to bring the chest up upon the back of a living land mass called a Titan. He narrates the story of Eden and looks at the world tree, while discussing the Titans sinking with his Titan Citan.
Soon after, he moors Citan out to the Thames so that he can sell his retrieved treasure, getting 200 Shekels for his trouble. When Reyn walks away, he meets a Bird thingy, who directs him to the captain of the establishment, Metal Face. When he gets their, Metal Face offers him a job, with 100,000 Shekels in advance payment and 100,000 Shekels upon completion of the job. Metal Face introduces Reyn to the three contractors: Grahf, Miang, and Melia.
Miang has a brief Spar with Reyn to make sure he's ready, and then Reyn goes off to prepare for the big job by sending Money back to Lahan Village. After boarding the Alpha Weltall, He notices another Bird Thingy, and tries to interact and get to know Grahf, Miang, and Melia a little better.
Late into the night, Reyn opens up to Melia about his dreams to reach Eden for the sake of Humanity, and Melia laughs at him for believing in a fairy tale. Although she does Acknowledge his selflessness.
The next day, they find their target and prepare to explore the sunken ship. After facing a few Monsters, they reach the room where a Girl is seemingly comatose. A Giant Sword is stuck in a slit in the ship floor. Reyn tries to take the sword, but is quickly brutally murdered by Grahf, who proceeds to to shatter the Sword. They then take the comatose girl's coffin and bring it up.
In a state of Limbo, Reyn awakens and meets the comatose girl in a dream. It turns out her name is Id, and she wants to get to Eden. Reyn agrees to be her traveling companion in exchange for half of her sanity, and Reyn is brought back to life.
Back on the top of the sunken ship, Miang orders Melia to slaughter everyone else on board. Melia protests, but then, Reyn and Id burst out of the ship and attack Miang, stating that their blade "did not cut deep enough".
After a fight, Melia betrays Grahf and Miang by defending Reyn and Id. After a harsh battle, they are almost knocked off the ship, but Citan works out what's going on and helps to save Reyn, Id, Melia, and her Traveling companion Kallian (I forgot to mention him before... sorry.)
Citan Flies away, and Grahf tells Miang that their primary objective ther

Amber comes on the show during a break in employment. We later find out from her IG she couldnβt work because of an injury and could βwork when she wantsβ because sheβs doing random modeling, presumably to get by in the meantime.
However Damien goes on the show not knowing if heβll have a job to come back to because heβs taken too much time off. And everybody is cool with it, I never see it mentioned at all.
I first read the series in middle school, and I absolutely loved them. After two years of not being able to finish a book, I picked up the novels as a last hope to get back into reading. At first I was nervous that the books wouldn't hold up to my childhood memories, but boy was I wrong. To be fair, it did take me about three months to get through the first two books, but I enjoyed every opportunity I got to disconnect from our world and travel to the magical world of Prydain. A month after that, I have finished both "The Castle of Llyr" and "Taran Wanderer", with just "The High King" left to go.
After finishing "Taran Wanderer" I just wanted to say how well written these books are, and how well they held up to what I remembered them as when I was a kid. While it is a high fantasy, many of the characters felt grounded, especially in "Taran Wanderer". Taran is a well written character, given that the intended audience were boys coming of age like the protagonist. The themes are mature enough so as to be enjoyed by more than just young boys coming of age. Though I understand why Lloyd Alexander didn't include Eilonwy in "Taran Wanderer", I wish there were more female characters in general.
I think "The Chronicles of Prydain" was the perfect series to get back into reading, and I've been building on my reading schedule so that it never feels like a chore. Though they are children's books, they are also very enjoyable for adults with a set of both fantastical and realistic characters.
Soon I will begin reading "The High King" , but with it comes the dread of having nothing to read after I finish, so jumping in into a new world would be ideal. I'm open to suggestions, but keep in mind that I haven't been an avid reader until these past few months.
