They were always going to rerun Diene at the end of december. They know many people missed out on her, so they put her into a poll with a few other heroes when they KNOW she would win.
This is just a slimy way to make it look like they listen to feedback and win back goodwill from the players.
In my experience at least. @HomeDepot As a company that touts safety as your top priority, how can you in good conscious require that we come to work? It’s national state of emergency where the government is now requesting us to not be around groups of 10 people or more. You know that every single floor asssociate comes in to contact with several multiples of that. And although your nation wide post about us cleaning and sanitizing areas sounds nice, I’ve yet to see a single implementation. We don’t even have had sanitizer for ourselves, what about the phones? Nothing is being cleaned unless associates do it themselves of their own volition. You know this virus has a transmission gestation period of up to 14 days where the carriers may not show any symptom. It’s dangerous for all associates but more importantly, what if one of us was a carrier... every single person we talk to has an 86% chance of catching it if one of us is a carrier without our knowledge for 14 days!!! And you offer us nothing unless we have proof of ourselves or a family member testing positive. By the time one of our associates shows symptoms they have used the same punch in terminal as every associate, for 2 weeks. And again, there are zero extra cleaning measures being observed. I wipe the terminal myself. If I want my phones cleaned I do it myself. Associates share their own hand sanitizer with each other. There is nothing that your post to the world or your video sent to us through my apron that’s really being observed. If we are scared, we can stay home without pay? If we don’t feel good? Stay home without pay? Our children are out of school with us having no way to get childcare for them, and nothing from you.. You offer full time employees 6 paid sick days a year.... use the homer fund. Use the fun fund. Do something responsible. We don’t need a hamburger cookout prepared illegally by people without food handlers permits, we need our company to support our safety.
I found this article about Tolkien and Middle-Earth recently and how it negatively ties in with his political views. It was incredibly frustrating so I decided to respond to it here, and make it the first in my "Bad Tolkien" series, where I'll do similarly for other articles.

First and foremost, I appreciate the article referring to Tolkien's works as "myths" and not "fantasies" or "stories," as the connotation of these words denotes that they are in the same vein as a traditional fantasy novel, I'm glad to see people acknowledging Tolkien's works as true myths for a more modern age. However, it soon comes crashing down.

Oh god, I thought I'd be able to start off easy, but let's just throw a bunch of bad Tolkien into the first point. It's true Middle-Earth is conservative, but so are most myths, and anyone accusing the Eddas or Beowulf to be "conservative" would be out of their minds. It's not fair to judge a myth through a "liberal vs conservative" lens, because they don't fall on that dichotomy, myths teach truths about society, the societies within the myths, regardless of apparent conservatism, don't nearly matter as much as the truths they teach. Also, why does Tolkien's conservatism take away from his works, that's just his worldview.
Secondarily, I would argue that The Hobbit, is much less about the return of a king, than the return of a people. Sure, Thorin wants to reclaim his kingdom, but the real motivator is giving the dwarves of Erebor their homeland

We will pose lots of hard questions, many of which I will list below, and they will dodge them. Instead they are going to talk about how their paper, and their yoga program, and their getting together and brainstorming great ideas will fix all the problems. Meanwhile they will fail to meaningfully address anything that detracts from their "hooray for us" message. How do I know this? Because this happens with almost every policy maker who shows up on Reddit.
so what's going to happen? Is there going to be some sort of enforcement of a good-faith efforts to acknowledge the massive problems facing physician burnout remediation? Or will this be an advertisement with information that could be spewed out by a low-quality chatbot? And these are the things are going to fail to acknowledge:
Mandatory wellness sessions that are not protected mean we have to stay at work another hour or more to catch up on the things we were supposed to be doing. You make it worse.
Yoga and dogs are not going to reverse physician burnout. Being proud of yourselves for offering these things does not mean you're doing something meaningful.
Physician burnout will be helped by addressing the main causes of burnout, which include disempowerment, too much paperwork, too much work, not enough administrative support, etc.
PowerPoints about how we should build resilience and admonishments not to kill ourselves are demoralizing and insulting. Telling us we need to try to get sleep and exercise when you're deliberately working us 80 hours or more is just plain mean.
Every single hospital administration led wellness program is created and enacted by people who work about 40 hours a week. Until the administrator shadows a doctor for an entire week straight, their opinion is not worth a tenth of the money spent on fancy banners and pamphlets.
Dissuade us from the notion that physician suicides are just the cost of doing business. Every business makes a cost-benefit analysis, ie the cost of implementing a safety measure versus the cost of paying out for wrongful death often does not balance in the favor of preventing harm. Quite frankly, the cost of replacing and retraining a few dozen physicians year is a lot less than the system-wide changes required to reduce burnout.

I used to post about my BFs mother here before my account got hacked so many times I just gave up on it. Anyway. MIL is a pretty garden variety JustNO: narcissist, sees her children and grandchildren as extensions of herself without autonomy, the works. Let's call her JQ after a restaurant she wouldn't stop trying to drag us to.
Long story short, SIL is NC with JQ. JQ hasn't stopped trying to have a relationship with SILs LO (6F) though. Her greatest fear is to be forgotten, even though LO last saw her when she was too small to remember her. She's tied balloons to the mailbox for LOs birthday (the restraining order was for within 50 ft of her person, so the mailbox is fair game everyone!), and sent her anonymous magazines. ANYTHING to make LO ask where this random stuff comes from.
Ex-BIL agreed recently to accept gifts for LO through my BF. This Christmas was the first gift. It was a creepy photo book. The first half was okay, all photos of JQ and LO together. However, the second half was pictures of JQ alone, documenting everything she's been up to since NC was instituted.
When JQ called last night, demanding to know how it went over, BF told it to her straight. That Ex-BIL and him both agreed that a photo book is a weird thing to give a six year old, and the photos of just her screamed of an ulterior motive.
BF tried to use this as a segue into how she needs to change if she wants to repair her relationships with her children so she can see her grandchildren; and that if she wanted to go to therapy with him he'd pay for everything.
If you think this led to a tearful commitment to self evaluation and betterment, you're in the wrong sub.
She turned her phone over to her new husband, who proceeded to sincerely threaten to drive over to our house and beat BF up. For "talking bullshit"
This is where we left it for the night (my boyfriend's rifle is now propped up next to the front door if you're wondering). We're both shocked that someone so unwilling to self-reflect exists. It'll be interesting to see if JQ understands that BF doesn't want to talk to her for a good long while after this if ever again, or if she tries to get right back into the constant arguing after trying to normalize her redneck husband's behavior.

My timeline on Twitter has recently included activists and other accounts from the fake opposition (delenda est). God are they the most whiny and obnoxious group I have ever encountered; I personally hate them more than the dictatorship because at least the dictatorship is clear they are evil thugs - no hypocrisy. I thought that everyone was aware there was no way that Maduro was going to lose that election, Reek was there for show, and the false opposition was being paid by Maduro. But I am wondering if real Venezuelans have ever met a real life Falcon supporter who is not a paid activist. Do such people actually exist in Venezuela? Do they naively believe that Maduro was going to give up power?
