A list of puns related to "Stride"
My last (and only) iPhone was the 3G, loved that thing - until I didn't. I switched to the OG Motorola Droid and stuck with Android since then. But after 11 or so years, it's time for me to come back. Here's why my wife and I are switching back (my wife never used an iPhone before):
(Note that I have used a few work iPhones during this time)
I've been playing for about 7 weeks and absolutely loving it! My skating has taken drastic strides (pun intended) thanks to watching lots of youtube videos, getting on the ice 1-3 times a week, and taking adult skating classes. My skating, stickhandling and passing are solid according to my teammates, but my wrist/snap shot still needs some work.
I know it's all about technique and I've been watching lots of videos and getting pointers from people when I can, but I'm still really struggling. I try to really load up on my right side (I'm a righty), do the push/pull lever motion, etc but I'm struggling to get much power on my shot. It always seems to be a weak fluttering puck, never a tight spinning shot like I see everyone else doing.
I have trouble flexing my stick just standing on the ice, let alone on my shot. I'm 6'5 175lbs and have a 85 flex Easton Iginla curve with a ~3" wood extension (which I can feel wobble a bit sometimes and bothers me, plus I don't like the idea that it's not fused as part of the stick).
HM has this stick on sale for $100. It's 63.5" so I wouldn't even need the extension! I can get the 75 flex in the Granlund curve, which seems pretty moderate, which can help me learn how to properly flex my stick, then work my way back to 85 flex then hopefully to 100 eventually (I'm lifting and hope to be up to 200lbs by the end of the year).
So my question is, would it be a good idea to snag a stick with 75 flex so I can learn how to properly flex my stick? If so, let me know if you have any other long stick recommendations for ~$100. Thanks!
EDIT: I purchased the stick. I was hoping it was in stock at a local-ish store but it wasn't so I'll have it next week. I'll post back an update after I use it a few times. Thanks for all of the help, this is a fantastic community. Happy Friday! :)
I am in no way affiliated with the Halo headband company, but I picked one up Saturday on clearance at REI and that thing is game changer for me!
I'm still a novice runner; only really been at it for about 6 months. Did C25k to help lose some stubborn pounds and have just jet with it. Five 5ks under my belt so far and really hitting my stride (pun intended).
But, as a man with a shaved head, the constant barrage of sweat has been a struggle. It's one of those things that you don't think about when you have hair. But when you're sand hair there's nothing to hold back the torrent of water that turns your head into a waterfall. And running only makes it worse. Being a heavy sweater anyway (at least before my weight loss), it made it even worse.
So I looked into a few headbands and caps. Found the Halos and wanted to lick one up. REI had some of them on clearance for $10 so I picked one up (that's like $5 or $6 off retail) and figured if I didn't like it then I was only out $10.
Wore it this morning and it's like knight and day! That little silicone strip really does its job! The thing holds a ton of sweat and I was able to wring a lot of water out of it after I ran. I still had some minor sweat on the forehead and eyebrow area, but I think that was sweat that began on that part of my face rather than anything running down from the head and making its way past the headband.
I'm not a headband guy but I love this thing! Will definitely be picking up one of the caps soon. Just wanted to pass along the info for anyone looking for a sweat blocker.
Us shaved headed runners gotta stick together!
I used to use this app back when it was only on season one, I ran for months and months and then lost motivation. When I saw they were releasing a new season, it rekindled my running motivation and now I feel like I'm really hitting my stride (pun intended). My goal is to do a half marathon by the end of the year. As of my run tonight, I hit 6.5 miles. Out of curiosity, I wanna know what my fellow runners goals are. Your motivation motivates me and I hope mine does the same for all of you.
So tell me runner! Why are you running? What do you hope to accomplish?
Hi there.
Recently purchased Fenix 5 and I am loving it! I also have an apple watch 3 with LTE that I don't really wear any more. Before I got the Garmin, I would wear the AW for my gym workouts, which were mainly high intensity, indoor run, or stair stepper. I work with a trainer and we do 30 minute high intensity workouts, so heart rate monitoring is important. I also love running, but for a while now I've only been running indoor on the treadmill. Recently I asked my trainer for us to focus on making me a better runner, so now our workouts will focus on that.
I donβt swim, bike, and donβt hike. Not that I donβt want to do those things, itβs just that I donβt. Those are activities I may do in the the future, but for now most of my activities consist of working out in the gym.
I do want to track steps, and I am not fond of apple watch only tracking movement, not steps.
I do have AirPods, and these allow me to listen to apple music on the watch while working out. I can still do this though without the apple watch, as I just leave my phone in the gym cubby and can still hear music via iPhone and AirPods.
I like the look of the Fenix 5 much better than the apple watch. The AW I would only wear for working out, and had no desire to wear it as an all day timepiece. I have been wearing the Fenix non stop, including sleep, since I got it (about 5 days ago). I also purchased the Garmin metal bracelet for dressing it up.
But I just donβt know if I need all of what the Garmin offers. I like the looks a lot, and I love the battery life. I also bought the Garmin HRM to more accurately track heart rate. I have a polar bluetooth strap for my AW as well.
But is the Garmin necessary for mainly indoor workouts? Does the extra data from the HRM chest strap add any value even though I mostly run indoors?
I know I am all over the place here, and maybe I am looking for someone to tell me itβs okay that I spent 700 (with metal bracelet) on the Garmin.
Back to my trainer and I focusing on making me a better runner: will the extra data the Garmin + HRM assist me in making me a better runner? In the future, when I am ideally making strides (pun intended) on my running game, do you think I will be glad to have all of this extra running data?
Also, when warmer weather arrives I will be running more outdoors, if that makes any difference.
I do like the simplicity of the AW when working out though: just show up to gym and select my workout. When doing my 30 minute

Backstory: I've been an amputee for as long as memory serves - I lost half my foot in a lawnmower accident when I was about 16 months (yes, months) old, and had the rest amputated when I was in the 3rd grade. Life hasn't been without its quirks and challenges, and I take it all in stride (pun intended).
Lately, however, I've been feeling... a pulsing vibration within my residual limb. I have checked my prosthesis and shoe and floor and everything looking for a cause. It kinda feels like I'm standing on a phone that's under a blanket... but I'm not. I'm at my desk, at work, that I've been at for half a year and it's just started up.
I'm 28, 29 in a little over a month, and so getting older with an amputation has proven to have other surprises. I was wondering if anyone else has had similar strange experiences? Any explanations?
I'm looking for a good doctor in the Kansas City area still. I have my reservations with them, and tend to be pretty picky, as most I've tried to work with seem either clueless or dismissive. So if any of you are from the KC area and have doctor suggestions, I would very much appreciate them! (This goes for PCP and Specialists...)
Hi Ladies,
If you haven't heard of Castor semenya ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caster_Semenya ) she's the women with hyperandrogenism in the rio olympics that the other female runners are all butt hurt about. Enough that she has been publically shamed for her appearence due to her hyperandrogenism. Since hyperandrogenism is one of the primary symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome I was curious about other womens thoughts on the story?
Personally I am really proud to see a woman with a condition similar to my own making great strides (pun intended) for acceptance.

I have been a runner since 1999, (when I lost 110 lbs in 9 months running, and eating less).
I decided this year to finally run a marathon, so every week I'm adding 1-2 miles to my long Run. During the week I cross-train 3 times a week, with 45 minutes of high speed jump rope. 2 short 7 mile runs and 1 long run. My day off is Sunday, but i took Friday off before this long run.
This morning I got up early, coffee/ water/ some light fruit and a little peanut butter. Two hours of Ps4 and then i did some light piriformis stretching.
6 am, 53 degrees, still relatively dark, I hit the streets. I use the generic samsung app to track time, and I cranked though the first mile at 8:22, which is rare. Generally my first mile is 9 minutes and I dont push myslef. I am a 6'5" guy with tight hamstrings, so I don't want to push myself. My run goes around a reservoir here in LA that has a very steep incline for half of the lap. Many friends who have raced a lot told me to train with crazy hills as msot marathons wont have them, and it will benefit me.
Hills kill me, but I have made great strides (pun) by keeping my head up, my shoulders up, and eyes up, and letting my legs not my back and core do the work.
My pace stayed around the same, I blasted through the entire run really enjoying myself, (until my toddler at home put katy perry on spotify on my phone!) I kept running until 14 miles but the last mile was very slow, and I still snuck in 14 miles under 2 hours. I felt great, and I have 8 weeks before the marathon.
I use asics nimbus 18 shoes, I have tried a lot of shoes, these really do my feet wonders.
Stretch, stretch, stretch!! 25 minutes focusing on these 4 stretches: http://www.halhigdon.com/training/50941/rr/Five-Fantastic-Stretching-Exercises The fifth stretch is a mystery to me, but the rest make it all better. Then I walk. to get coffee, of around my neighborhood - today I strapped my kid onto my back and went downtown for that huge amazing women's march!! my legs felt great most of the morning, they tightened up a little later, but the more I walked and did gentle stretching, the better I felt. I drink

A lot of people (including my parents and me) suffered after 2008. We often hear ppl losing everything and getting set far back in lives. What we DON'T often hear, are people who loaded up in 2008. Regular average people. Those with small savings. Be it stocks or the housing market (which experienced a trailing small crash 2 years after). Those folks got literally everything on a massive discount.
Think about it from that angle. If I have SOME money saved up now and it were 2008 again, I would be fkin ecstatic. Because after 4-5 years I would gain 1000% easily. And that's not even going into real estate.
Also, recent example of last March will confirm my point. I made huge gains from it. I only bought Costco, Etsy and HomeDepot. No technical analysis. No charts. No graphs. Nothing. They were on sale and I assume people will be using them during the pandemic. Average intelligent move. There was no depth to it.
And even if you don't maximize your portfolio, literally buying any stocks on the dip will make you money in the long run. You can be dense and still make money.
So chill tf out. The dip IS AN OPPORTUNITY. It's a fking GIFT.
We're all familiar with "buy the dip". Well, here's the same principles with a minor tweak "buy the (big) dip".
There are 3 things for certain: death, tax and the stock market going up in the long run
EDIT: Based on some of the replies I have to clarify. I am by no mean saying "THIS IS THE CRASH!" or "DON'T INVEST. ONLY DO SO WHEN THERE'S A CRASH!". I'm merely saying how you should REACT TO/FEEL ABOUT these events. View them as opportunities rather than disasters.
Bitcoin dominance just fell through the floor but I can't see any altcoins making big enough strides right now. What's going on?
It plummeted so hard there's a gap in the daily BTC.D chart on Tradingview.
I've been looking around for any alts making serious gains in the past 2 hours but almost everything has been red.
Anyone have any insight as to what's going on?
Like without knowing their jersey or number, who is the most obvious to recognize just by how they stand or skate?
Which update?
So I thought about this for a while now, and figure why not. You will lose stats in tanks but it makes up in dueling potential, even if the item isn't a permanent choice, it is an item to consider along side with Frozen Gauntlet, Sunfire cape, and Divine Sunderer.
Again, the dueling potential is there, late game giving you a free dash that deals AoE damage and slow, while giving free mobility (15 + 12%) which is big, yes you lose out in armor and magic resist, but late game, you can regain it so easily. It also gives attack speed, which is good
