A list of puns related to "Strait Of Dover"
Is there a way to enable the Straits of Dover? Having the UK on your side in a Great War means next to nil if they're never able to put their forces into the field. I know it's the AI's fault and not the mods fault.

This song requires an insane amount of specificity. There are little quirks caused by switching back and forth between alternate picking, economy picking, and hybrid picking, and if don't do them all correctly you'll be derailed. Also, there are little notes tucked away that you'll easily miss if you don't listen to it slowed waaaay down. The pedal point lick near the end (I think that's what it's called?) is probably the part that required the most practice.

For a very long time i have been contemplating on getting Cliffs of Dover. I had always heard a lot of bad things, but i also have a very large interest in the Battle of Brittain. So with the Cabin sale going on (Use it, you have 5 Days left!) i finally pulled the trigger.
I was surprised to say the least.
Starting with the bad things i have to say, that, espacially in the user interface, one can notice, that this is an old game. it all feels a bit clunky and unpolished, but i feel that is to be expected. Also the graphics are a bit old, but still very servicable. The last negative is the playerbase, as it is quite small, but large enough to have some fun online (i will come to why that is shortly)
I will structure the good things in two segments:
I. Gameplay
II. Realism
I. Gameplay
The Gameplay differs greately from GB. This beeing themed on the Battle of Brittain, the map is way larger in scale and the air operations are more strategical (Attacking Airfields, Ports) instead of the Tactical gameplay on GB (Hunting Tanks, Trains, weakening Defenses, Attacking Airfields close to the front, Frontdepots). This very much mirrors the differences in the eastern and weastern Front.
With the larger map you also get longer flighttimes, wich i greatly appreachiate.
I will now mostly talk on Multiplayer, as i feel, that MP is the core of any IL2 game, but i want to say, that the Singleplayer feels more limited than in GB.
The server i have bben flying most and wich is often most populated is called TWC Campaign Server.
It manages to blend PvP and PvE very well, stocking up the limited player numbers.
It has dynamic Objectives with an actual effect on the outcome of the battle.
It also has consequences for dying. All in all it feels quite simmilar to TAW.
One thing that really sets this apart is the AI Grount controller, who constantly supplies the Pilots with position and heading of the enemy (i have only seen this in one GB server so far)
This allows you to actually find your enemies and fly offensively, as opposed to servers like combat box, where often my wingman and i fly around an objective for an hour without finding any enemies.
This leads me to my next point: Spotting is fantastic. You can finally find your enemies and dont loose them all the time. It is at the point where it might be to easy! (it uses a summilar dynamic scaling system, as is present in GB, but it works way better)
This all together makes it so, that you ge

In concert with the attacks on the tankers in UAE in the last months, it appears that these two events are not merely coincidence. The Emirati investigation on the first attack concluded with a "no blame" on any one state, but of course the U.S. and Iran blame each other
Will escalated tensions ultimately lead to a "hot" war? Is this our generations "Gulf of Tonkin?"
Would also love to hear thoughts on the puts / takes of the Iran hawk argument, as there are many critics of that policy
Hi all,
I thought I'd finally finish what I had been planning to do for a while. Not too big on covers but I do them every now and then and EJ is really as good as it gets for me. Hope you guys enjoy it.
I work with homeless drug and alcohol users, who bear the brunt of cuts to services, and have a life expectancy of 45. I sometimes talk about politics with them if they raise it. Yesterday a client was punching the air and whooping because Brexit is happening. I asked as a genuine question what she was expecting from that, and she said βthat weβre leaving the EU!β, which was enough for her. It was desirable enough in itself and didnβt connect to specific concerns.
Today a street drinker told me he was fed up with people jumping out of trucks at Dover and getting housed straight away before people that are born here. When I said I wasnβt sure that was accurate, and I thought every uk citizen should get housed and we have enough wealth for everyone but its hoarded by the super rich, he said he thought billionaires deserved their money, and he wasnβt racist but it was immigrants that are the problem and I was naive. Last week when someone brought this up a co worker just agreed and said βyeah you donβt see many homeless Somalis do youβ . If I even remain neutral on this stuff I get attacked for βnot understanding what its like on the streetsβ.
I donβt expect clients to be politically well informed, but it fucking breaks my heart that so many of those worst affected by tory austerity have fully absorbed tabloid propaganda and support the divisive anti immigrant rhetoric that lays blame on the most vulnerable and celebrates the super wealthy. I just have no more words that I can. give to them about it any more, there is no argument can be had, its just self evident to some people, emotionally real and any of my reasoning or other way of seeing things is just me βnot getting itβ
