A list of puns related to "Sheng"
For couple of years I've been buying freshly made gushu sheng from Mei Leaf and I love it a lot. Do you know any other vendor that sells sheng like that?
(And please, lets not make this about how much you hate Mei Leaf and what not.)
After experiencing a few gong fu sessions at friends I have acquired different teas and a gong fa set. I have been trying different styles of tea in a gaiwan and want to find out what flavors there are. So far I have tried a Mountain Oolong from Taiwan and a Long Jing green tea. I really liked both these tea's.
Today we tried a Sheng Puerh for the first time. The smell of the tea in the warmed gaiwan was amazing, so rich and complex, lot's of different smells. After waking up the leaves I found a bitter note coming trough. The first steep was blend and bitter, the second steep tasted round and bitter, vegetative, almost like the gunpowder westafrican teas. After that I tried a lower temperature, the tea went drinkable but blend.
The tea leaves are large and not pressed, I used the following brewing method:
100ml gaiwan
7 gram leaves
95c water first two steeps, 85c for the 3rd and 4th
8 second rinse
10 second steeping time
After four infusions I stopped because of the flavor. Are my methods here at fault or is this what a Sheng Puerh is supposed to taste like? Should I have started with a lower temperature because the leaves are not pressed?
p.s. loving the exploration of all these teas so far!
That I am not a light to guide you home,
No shining beacon and no candle flame.
That I am but a ragged burden thrown
Against the bony shoulders of your frame,
And every path you tread into the night
I do encumber. That I do mistake
That sunny grin for spirit and delight,
Though it is worn to better bear the ache.
This I fear most. So I command you: should
You tire of me, strip me from your back
And burn me like a hecatomb of wood.
With raging heat, the heavens Iβll attack
Until the dark dissolves away like foam.
Then step ahead. My light shall guide you home.
Suppose I want an aged sheng puer which is as good as it gets, to drink it right now with no further aging, and I don't particularly care about price. What is the best way to approach that?
Not that I want to do it right now - I'm just wondering what are the options.
Hi all! I've been brewing young sheng in a gawain with no issue, but I love teapots and I'd like to get a small one for it eventually. Would jianshui be good a good fit? Jianshui is more in my price range than most yixing and I like how they look. I'm open to other suggestions as well.
I have a sheng from a reputable source and a sketchy one. Both are from 2016. I guess the tea will get darker with time and one could propose that the age can be identified by the color of the tea soup? The sketchy tea is a lot lighter in color and it makes me wonder if some sellers lie about the age (not very surprising).
I recently acquired another small Yixing pot in addition to the tiny one I have already! The one Iβve been using has been brewing my favorite shou puerh. However, I plan on buying more different types of shou and sheng puerh soon. Iβm pretty new to yixing and wondering if itβs okay to dedicate one pot to all the shou puerh I buy and the other to all the sheng puerh. TLDR is it okay to mix different shou puerhs into one yixing and the same with sheng? Thanks for all the help guys.
Sold, thanks all!
Hi all, selling 90% of my non-huangpian young sheng. Finally admitting that my stomach will never be able to fully handle young sheng. The teajoint.ca teas haven't been opened at all, so I'm not sure whether they're humidified or not. The CLT teas are in paper like they came, so those should be at proper RH since they'd been sitting in Mylar on their own and I only took out the Boveda recently.
$75 shipped USPS (but might need to do UPS or Fedex depending on shipping time) CONUS
PayPal G&S only; verified swaps across a variety of subs and have sold on here before. Let me know if you think prices are unreasonable. Consider the lack of needing to pay and wait for shipping from China or Canada on these. Would really prefer not to break this up because of shipping costs.
lighting is so-so; can provide more pictures if needed. Not really sure of the links on the Teajoint.ca teas, as most of their original storefront teas are now missing. FWIW, I'm not sure all of them are actually what they say they are based on what pricing was. I never got an emailed receipt for my order, but it was 50 something for the teas below + 40g of heicha + 10g of Kuding that I'm keeping.

Puerhiodic Table of the Elements 2020 -
... keep reading on reddit β‘Just saw Sheng Wang at a Northeastern University sanctioned stand up event. He was the opener for Ali Wong and Johnathan Van Ness and Wang easily did the best of the three. Even to the young student crowd who went for Wong or Van Ness, he got the biggest, most consistent laughs, even after following Ali for a ten minute interlude. His demeanor was perfectly laid back and hilarious, telling incredibly well written jokes with perfect timing. He was very prepared and didn't rely on any gimmicks or cheap blows (like Wong and Van Ness did, I find a lot of big comedians rely on this), he was just a pure, great comedian. I hadn't heard of him before and in looking him up, did not find any material of his which was nearly as good as this. Not as a diss or anything, just wanted to point out that Sheng Wang is on the come up and to keep an eye on him! Haven't been able to say that about many comedians lately so it's exciting knowing we're in for some new stuff soon.
