A list of puns related to "Marimba"
Hello all,
I'm a music student and I'm supposed to compose a concerto for some Young musicians and I decided I'd write a marimba concerto accompanied by a string orchestra. However, as I don't play tuned percussion, I need some help to determine what is playable and ways to make it more interesting, without making it difficult for people of Grade 4/5 standard. I will include score below:

Thanks a lot :)
Hi, I am a sophomore in high school, I have what Iβd say an intermediate skill in four mallet marimba. Solo ensemble contest comes up in late February, and im looking for a 4 mallet marimba solo. I learned Burtonβs grip, and am looking for something that doesnβt have a lot of chords, if you guys have any suggestions that would be great, thanks!
What the title says, I haven't had the best luck in finding them in my city
Happy New Year's Eve everyone! Here is a link to my new piece, Etude No. 5 for Marimba, recorded by me!
As the title says I'm looking to emulate the sounds of Congotronics with a synth. This is one of my favorite songs ever and I would love to mess around with the sound;
Mbongwana Star - Malukayi (feat. Konono No.1)
I've seen others recreate Marimba sounds with sine waves but are there any recommended synths that are better at doing this effect than others?
I'm on the hunt for that sound. Whatcha got? Will I need Kontakt?
What the title says. For some context, I'm an 18 year old that already plays the drums and keyboards who has been getting into keyboard percussion instruments like the vibes and marimba for the better part of 6-7 months due to them being an exact mix of what I play already and most importantly because I absolutely love their sound and what they add to the music they're in (especially through fast note phrasing and interval jumps and such). With all this in mind, what would be the best lower cost/smaller alternatives to the vibes or marimba?
So, a marine recruiter came to my house today and I told him I wanna get a discharge, and he said that if I do, then not very many jobs will wanna hire me. Is that true? Iβve sworn in, so I guess that means Iβm technically enlisted. Iβm supposed to ship on the 15 of this month
What the title says. I play the drums and keyboards and I've lately also been getting into keyboard percussion instruments due to their lovely sound, they're excellent phrasing potential (mainly hitting one not super fast or just playing percussively in general) and because they are essentially a mix of what I already play(though I haven't been able to actually play a keyboard percussion instrument, unless we count using cue tips on my keyboard to try and simulate soft mallets with the vibes setting on(cringy I know)). I think I'm going to learn the vibes eventually since it sounds absolutely beautiful when olayed right and because it is more often used in modern music. However, I also loooove the sound of the marimba in faster songs like attraction performed by christoph sietzen (he's a God at keyboard percussion) or when it's bass notes are played (as in shore leave by Tom waits during the chorus). This love for both these instruments (as well as the xylophone to a certain degree) has made it hard to decide which one to study or if I should just learn all of them or not due to their similarities.
As such, any advice or info regarding these instruments and the similarities and differences is welcome!
Happy 2022 everyone! Wishing you all a great, safe, and healthy year!
Here's my new piece, Marimba Etude No. 6:
What would you do to make it sound synthy as possible?
I was a percussionist for 10 years, I have all these mallets and sheet music, and I would definitely pay for several 2-5hr sessions, but I canβt transport, store, or even use for a short period a marimba in my home.
Does such a thing exist? I never see marimbas outside percussion programs like universities and high schools, and I donβt know what interest/capability they would have in letting an unaffiliated, out of practice person (very responsible and experienced though) just sort of come practice.
I would be willing to work with a vibe if thatβs available, but I donβt really want to practice on a xylophone.
Let me know if you or anyone you know can help!
Hello Iβm a band teacher that started taking percussion lessons 2 years ago for fun. Iβve studied snare drum, marimba, timpani, and auxiliary. I enjoy marimba a lot and thought about investing in one. I was thinking about getting a 4.3 octave one. Any recommendations or suggestions? Tips and tricks?
need advice, i was a woodwind in high school so i dont know many mallet solos, which are good for drum corps auditions? last year i played cricket sang and set the sun. i need something that would fit (mostly) on a three octave, at least within the first 1:30-2:00 minutes. i know what theyβre looking for tech-wise, but idk how to find good solos so if you know any names, please let me know!! thanks!!

Hi everyone!!
I was hoping someone could help me as I'm writing a marimba concerto, but I'm not a percussionist so I don't know if the content is difficult enough for a marimbist or playable. And if it is, is it possible to tell me ways to improve to make it more showy. I've left a link below to the score
