Does anyone else get the vibe that Shari isnβt loving college as much as she claims? Outside of academics it doesnβt really seem like sheβs loving college imo. In her latest video all she really talked about was her classes and how she and the roommate are total opposites. It seems like she goes home a lot. All the people I know that are home a lot from college are usually not loving it or are having a hard time. And her Instagram is only ever about class which makes me wonder if she does anything outside of school. The first semester is always the hardest so maybe sheβll branch out more in the months to come, but itβs really sad if she just stays in her dorm alone doing school all the time. (This isnβt a snark on her but more so her parents who taught her that academics and socializing apparently canβt coexist. Ruby and Kevin really are failing their kids when it comes to socializing.)
I really hopes she meets people who were raised different than her, so she can kinda see life outside of strict Mormonism and the controlling parents she has.

I previously read another book by this author called "The Couple Next Door" which I enjoyed, I thought it was very good, and although parts of it were a little predictable (only cause I was thinking of every possible scenario) and the characters were not super likeable, I still enjoyed it, as I felt it was a fun, fast-paced thriller and it kept me on edge. So after reading that, I was excited to read this one, and I have to say I was very disappointed.
- This book had way too many characters. I did make a list of all of them, only because in the first 20 pages or so they're all introduced. However, even with all these characters, they maintain the idea that the only 3 possible suspects are the three children.
- While I understood that each of the children had motive and that could've made a good red herring, having it end up still be one of them felt like a cop-out, because there were so many other characters that also motive, means and opportunity.
- None of the characters were particularly likeable, including the murdered parents. I couldn't even care at all who killed them, and I didn't care if they never received justice. Fred was a killer himself who never got justice, so why there should be justice for his own murder?
- Audrey, Audrey, Audrey. She was such an annoying character. We're supposed to root for her, but her constant narration going on about "those kids are spoiled they don't deserve Fred's money, I deserve it cause I helped him cover a murder for 50 years!" I wanted to believe she was an unreliable narrator, and I thought it would've made sense. I thought it would've been more interesting if it turned out she was the one that killed her and Fred's father and that whole "he was gonna give me half his money" was all just a lie she made up, and the things she said about the kids were all made up or exaggerated to make herself look innocent cause she hated the kids already, why not frame them? I would hate to see an innocent person framed, but if anybody would end up the killer, I'd rather it be her.
- Ellen I thought would make sense as the killer, since she knew Rose was going to get money from the will and she hated Fred for essentially abandoning her daughter all these years. Plus she was Audrey's best friend, she could easily have poisoned her ice tea.
- Irena could've been a good choice as well, since she knew she was getting money in the will, but also she wanted to protect those kids, I thought maybe it would come out that a
Iβm sure most athletes and coaches are impressed with Y quad cities and their ability to continuously pump out youth National gold medalist and beyond. Especially with their smaller numbers. Does anyone know or have an idea of how they train? What sets them apart in that aspect?
Think Shari will be allowed to come home for Christmas and stay the night on Christmas Eve? I remember her getting all sentimental in her last Christmas video that it was the last Christmas morning she was going to wake up in her bed at that house. Who can blame the girl? Ruby has made it clear her children aren't welcome once they hit 18 and move out... unless they're bringing the grandkids around.
Title says it all. I know I can donate to a shelter or food bank but I (selfishly?) want to have a more direct impact. Maybe I'm naive. Probably. But I'm naive with money and would like to give a little back.

Just finished an unwanted guest by Shari Lapena. I really enjoyed it. I liked how she gets you hooked in right from chapter 1. And I also liked that I didnβt guess the killer. I love locked room mysteries and it really gave me all the Agatha Christie feels. The only thing I didnβt like is that none of the characters were really like-able or relatable. If you read it, what were your thoughts?
