Asking for a friend
Granted my son is known for corny (akadad) jokes but this one is a gem and Iβm so proud I knew I had to share it here.
Two men were stranded in the desert for about a week with no food or water. They were getting pretty desperate.
One of the men saw a tree in the distance. It was simply covered in bacon. So much bacon that there were no leaves to be seen. More bacon than the two of them could eat in a week. They were saved!
After sharing his discovery with his companion; the man began to run towards the tree, the scent of bacon overwhelming his senses.
Right before he reached his goal he was surrounded by many men firing repeatedly at him. He was struck by several bullets from all directions.
Too late he realized it had not been a bacon tree that he had seen, instead it was a ham bush.

I am not a dad. I am a daughter. For longer than I can remember, I have called my dad at "too early" times in the morning, woke him up, and told him a joke. This was a daily occurrence. Hence how I found this sub.
My dad died on Monday. You guys helped me wake him up with laughter so many times and I got to hear him laugh every day. Thank you r/dadjokes.
Edit: spelling
Wow I really did not expect so many people to see this post or to take the time to comment and reach out to me. Thank you all so much for your thoughts and kind words. It really means a lot. This is a great community and I'm so glad to have found it. As a mom to two beautiful little jokesters, I will absolutely continue pestering them with daily jokes and keep the tradition and the laughter alive.
For those asking, his favorite jokes were the really long ones that took forever to tell and had bad/ the best punchlines. The one that immediately sticks out was posted here either Sunday or Monday and was the last one I got to tell him. I will see if I can find it and figure out how to link. It was about a farmer who really loved tractors.
Thank you to the kind redditors who found it for me.

A C, an E-flat, and a G go into a bar. The bartender says: "Sorry, but we don't serve minors." So, the E-flat leaves, and the C and the G have an open fifth between them. After a few drinks, the fifth is diminished and the G is out flat. An F comes in and tries to augment the situation, but is not sharp enough. A D comes into the bar and heads straight for the bathroom saying, "Excuse me. I'll just be a second." An A comes into the bar, but the bartender is not convinced that this relative of C is not a minor. Then the bartender notices a B-flat hiding at the end of the bar and exclaims: "Get out now! You're the seventh minor I've found in this bar tonight." Eventually, the C sobers up, and realizes in horror that he's under a rest. The C is brought to trial, is found guilty of contributing to the diminution of a minor, and is sentenced to 10 years of DS without Coda at an upscale correctional facility.
Just remembered this today. Not 100% sure where to post this, but it does involve a joke told by my dad, soβ¦
Several years ago, (I was probably 11-13, somewhere in there) my dad started tossing his empty cardboard six-pack holders into the garbage can in the bedroom shared by me and my brother. I donβt know why.
After doing this for a while, he walks into our room, looks in the garbage can, and says βBoys, Iβm disappointed by the number of beer containers in your garbage can.β My brother and I grin at the stupid joke, and then we hear Mom from across the hall yell βWHAT?!?β
That took some explaining.
Pinot Egregio.
Apologies for this egregiously bad joke: it popped into my mind and wouldn't leave so I shared it here.
I (a mom who loves dad jokes) was walking past a stranger at the office complex where I work this afternoon. This stranger was holding two flourescent light bulbs.
Me: "Are those heavy?"
Him: "Not really."
Me: "Yeah, they look light."
I laughed so hard and was so grateful that he shared my energy and laughed with me!! I was excited to finally have a contribution to this subreddit that brings me daily joy!!!
They're also pun-ishingly bad! You should be pun-alized for it!
Edit: >!I normally don't do this but let me explain the joke/post. Please notice the pun-chline below the title.!<
>!The idea behind this post was to make a pun out of the controversial topic of this sub and nothing else.!<
>!I'm the "devil's advocate" when it comes to both sides. I love both SFW and NSFW dad jokes. Also, there are many prude cultures in the world where parents don't use NSFW jokes with their kids even as an adult so it makes sense why they won't think an NSFW joke is not a dad joke. Reddit is not limited to western culture.!<

Permanent Head Damage
It was the best joke my father shared with me. And till this day it still cracks me up just thinking about it.
Not exactly a one liner dad joke, but I believe this is part of our duty as fathers to intentionally mess with our kids. I tell my girls all the time that boy zebras are black with white stripes, and that girl zebras are white with black stripes (or vice versa you decide but stay consistent). The look of their face trying to think it through when a zebra is on TV after asking if it's a male/female is priceless and you all should give it a go and share the outcome! Dad-on my fellow pranksters.
I told my wife they were having a plow-wow.
Barely a chuckle. sigh
My sons are three and one so they had no idea what I was talking about.
Had to share with some other fellow dad joke enthusiasts.
To celebrate, we invited all the family and friends we could to my parents' house and then made the big announcement. Everyone was ecstatic and my father in particular was driven to tears. At a certain point during the night he pulled me aside and led me into his study, which I had never really been inside until this point. He opened a safe and produced cigars a bottle of whiskey and a large, beautifully bound book.
"I could never have asked for a better son," my father said, lighting the cigars and pouring the whiskey. "I hope you think I was a good enough father to deserve you."
βOf course, Dad," I said, "You were all I could've asked for and I wish my son admires me even half as much as I admire you."
βNow I've shared with you nearly everything I know," he said, "But not this one thing. This is the Big Book of Dad Jokes. There are many like it but this one is special. My father gave it to me when your mother and I first found out she was pregnant with you, and I studied it and studied it, learning all the dad jokes I could and mastering book's secrets. I hope it serves you as well as it served me in being a father... No... I know it will serve you well. I love you, my son."
βDad... I don't know what to say... I'm honoured..."
βHi Honoured, I'm Dad."
Because adding just one more would make it too farty. Straight from my 7 year old daughter.
Edit: Thank you so much for the awards and upvotes. I showed my daughter how many people saw and appreciated her humor and she's extatic. I know she probably didn't come up with the joke herself but this was one of the first times she really got me with a good one and I thought I'd share it with some fellow dads and others.
They'd traded jokes, played pop music, and generally made people's lives a touch brighter as they trundled to work.
Now, though, there was silence on the air. Ernie silently reread the fax message from the Department of Defense. As licensed broadcasters they were legally obligated to alert the public, to tell them the nukes were flying and that in a few minutes all the world's troubles would be over. What, though, was the point of that? To torture people with the knowledge of something they couldn't change?
Their eyes met and a decision was reached. Bert put on their most requested song, a sugary top 40 tune while Ernie produced a bottle of bourbon from under the desk. As their producer banged on the locked studio door the colleagues toasted the end of a long career.
Bert, always the consummate professional, turned away from the window as the first explosion split the distant horizon. He straightened his tie, tucked in his shirt, and brushed his hair back. He would meet his fiery death with dignity.
He turned to Ernie and said in a quiet, resigned voice, "How do I look, Ernie?"
Ernie walked slowly over to his friend. He looked into Bert's face and saw the closeness they shared, the strength of their relationship, forged over the years. He took a deep breath and spoke quietly:
"With your eyes, Bert."
I just wanted to thank everyone here. My mom has been in the hospital with the virus and being able to send her jokes from here has made her laugh (we both really like puns!) so I just wanted to thank yβall for the fun jokes you post. I know it doesnβt seem like much but it has been very nice to be able to share them with her!
Edit: thank you so much for the awards and well wishes! I 100% did not expect this to blow up like it did and Iβm so glad for yβallβs support!!

Ah, I have become an adopted dad jokester!)

Weβve been in a bad joke email war for some time now. Itβs been so long, I donβt remember how it started. It may have happened when I moved out after staying with him and my mom for a while.
Long story short: Iβve got a lot of dad jokes to share with yβall, because we are constantly sending βdad jokesβ to each other. And I have hundreds of jokes that are LITERALLY from my dad.
All the best jokes? They are headed your way!
Hereβs some to get you started. I am copying and pasting them exactly as he writes in the email so you can get the full βdadβ effect. Heβs 72.
Everyone who can, take a moment out of your day to call your dad.

The year is 2100, there is a fisherman who just finished dinner and he asks his grandson to go 'get the old bay' so his grandson goes into the pantry and gets the old bay seasoning
The old fisherman says
"boy! that's not the old bay! go and get the old bay!" so the grandson goes back into the pantry, and he looks everywhere, but he can't find anything marked "old bay"
So he goes back to the old fisherman and says, defeated
"I can't find the old bay"
The fisherman groans
and walks outside
a few minutes pass by
and then the old fisherman comes back inside with his wife
and says
"THAT'S not the old bay"
and then he points at his wife and says
"THIS is the 'Old Bae'"
note: I've told this joke at my job in two separate meetings. They are quite fond of "dad jokes" so I thought I would try to share it, and I gotta tell you. The silence was deafening both times. It's now evolving into an ironic joke we tell to make people cringe. So proud of it.
... so they can beat the crowds!
Edit: Wow, this is now my second highest upvoted post ever, and it's not even my own joke! Totally should have credited the video I saw this in: https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/h8btkp/protester_has_a_joke_for_the_police_officers/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Thanks for the laughs and great comment threads, Reddit :)
I was recently at my brothers house and went into the bathroom and found this post and came out of the bathroom to my brother, his roommate and my gf (who is very tired of my antics) all sitting silently while he is playing a video game and the other two are scrolling. I recite the joke with a healthy pause before the punchline and my brother pauses his game and gets up from the couch to smoke a cigarette while Iβm laughing hysterically. I then get up from the couch and follow him saying βNo wait, get it, becauseβ¦β and it was the hardest Iβve laughed in a very long time
He tells the host he has come dressed as a snail.
"But who's the woman?" The host asks, confused.
"Oh, This is Michelle"
This was my 6 year old cousins favourite joke for a while and it still cracks me up especially given the concerned looks the adults share when the joke starts
I've been sharing the Dad Jokes from here that pop up in my suggestion line. My Dad and I work together, so we're both off for the School break. Half the time he rolls his eyes and the other half he chuckles. So, thank you, Dad Jokers, for making my Dad chuckle in whatever this strange year has been!
You saw-dust. (There were exaggerated winks after. And a elbow to the ribs. It was glorious)
Edit: thanks for the love: My kid asked me if I was gonna share it on Facebook. I donβt use Facebook so I said Iβd share it here. Heβs practicing his jokes, he said, so he can be a good big brother. Heβs got a corny sense of humor and loves a good dad joke.
For the couple of you who think I pimped his joke for Karma, look outward to that speck of light in your dark life. That light is your asshole. Go that way to remove your head from from it.
As a child I donβt think fathers realize how much we love and appreciate them and wanted to share it, even though this isnβt a joke.
Our dog's barking her head off, trying to get food from the table. I look to my daughter and say: "Must be a tree-dog."
"A tree-dog," she says, "why's that?"
"Because of all the bark!"
And then I got that look. If you're a dad, too, you know the one.
My kid surprised me today with a handmade book with dad jokes. Each joke had an associated graphic too as a bonus! I'm so happy I wanted to share the joy with you guys.
These are the 26 jokes (some I've learned from here, but a few of them I've never heard):

I hope this is not a distasteful joke. If you're Canadian, you will know this. Sorry if it is, I just wanted to share my husband's attempt at a dad joke that made me laugh.
AHHHHHH! a zombie!
My 8 year old son just told me his joke and wanted me to share it here.

A guy walks into a bar and orders a beer. "I finally published a book of all the dumb jokes people come in here and tell me," the bartender says. "Is it any good?" the guy asks. "Well I showed it to some customers last night and I had them falling out of their chairs," the bartender brags. "It's that good?" the guy asks. "No, they hated it," the bartender replies. "So I pushed them off their bar stools."

In honor of my Grandpa, here is my favorite Dad joke, that he told me when I was a young one, and that I, in turn, have shared with each of my kids.
How to catch a polar bear:
Step 1: Go to a frozen lake way up north.
Step 2: Cut a 6 foot hole in the ice
Step 3: Place frozen peas all along the border of the hole in the ice.
Step 4: Hide
Step 5: When a polar bear comes up to take a pea, kick him in the ice hole.
Hey all,
I thought I would share a wholesome yet hilarious jab at me my daughter unintentionally made last night.
I honestly canβt remember what joke I made last night but itβs one that we would all make. akin to the βkid comes up and days Iβm hungryβ joke. I chuckle to myself.
My 6 year old responds Daughter: βMom, is Dad still learning to tell jokes?β Wife: βNo sweetie why do you ask?β Daughter deadpan face and tone: βBecause that wasnβt funny.β
New to this subreddit. I know the point of this thing is to share funny jokes, but since I'm a newbie I hope you'll allow me this one opportunity to make a serious but friendly PSA: If you're lucky enough to have a father, don't take him for granted. Even when they scold or punish you, trust their judgement, it's likely for good reason even if you can't see it at the time. When I was a child I narrowly avoided a horrific accident in which 4 of my friends were electrocuted at a playground we used to play on every day after school. I used to hate my old man for being so strict and disciplining me when all of my friends got to run wild, but if it weren't for him I definitely would have been electrocuted too that day. But I wasn't. I was grounded.
Bert and Ernie worked together as daytime radio hosts for over twenty years. They'd traded jokes, played pop music and generally made peoples lives a touch brighter as they trundled to their workplace.
Now though, there was a silence on the air. Ernie silently reread the fax from civil defense. As licensed broadcasters, they were legally obligated to alert the public, to tell them that several nuclear missile launches had occured, and that in a few minutes all the world's troubles would be over. He saw the closeness they shared, all the long years tying them together, and the strength of their relationship. He took a deep breath, with tears streaming down his cheeks. He spoke in a quiet, broken tone:
"With your eyes, Bert."

"Save the Dad", jokes are the best because they aren't funny until you get them.
STD jokes don't have to be vulgar or inappropriate to be funny. Just about anyone you share them with will eventually succumb to how infectious they really are.
I've noticed quite a few uncle's have incepted this sub and refuse to get off our couch. I love you brother but you need to get a job and stop telling my kids your viral jokes.
Why can't you just tell a good clean STD joke?
Who's with me? Can we "Save the dad" sub?
Please help spread your STD jokes so this sub can get back on track.
I hope this type of post is allowed!
I am going to visit my grandma this Tuesday to say goodbye to her. She is 87 and very ill, she is mentally still with it but in a lot of pain. She sounds at peace, I think she is just doing her best to hang on til we can get to her.
My grandma loves stupid jokes, dad jokes, puns, all that stuff. Iβd love to share some laughs with her when I say goodbye. Hit me with your favorite and dumbest dad jokes and I will share the best ones with her.
Thank you Reddit fam!
The pay wasnβt good, but THE TIPS WERE HUGE!
Iβd like to share something about this joke. I actually used to work as a carney during the summer when school was out. Play a few shows with my mom who traveled (to make money for the summer) and then come home to my dads house and spend the school year there (they were divorced).
My dad told me the joke I wrote^
So, fast forward into my 30s. Iβm fairly successful and love telling my peers that I was a carney when I was in high school, since itβs so opposite of what I do now. They always ask me what I did when I worked thereβ¦ I always tell anyone who asks me - this joke. Kills every time.
Note: there is a difference between a carnival and a circus. Carnivals have games and rides, while a circus is a show with animals. People often do not know one from the other though.
I swear this is a true organic dad joke I had tonight. Felt Iβd share it with reddit.
My kid came up to me and says βoh no, look dad, it needs a bandaidβ as she gently presents her imaginarily injured bouncy ball.
I looked at my kid and said βI donβt think it needs a bandaid, he looks like heβs going to bounce backβ
