A list of puns related to "Ribot"
Is somebody familiar with this song:

Around 3:06 something changesβ¦ is this an example of a switch in key? Also something changes with the accompagning solo guitar in the seconds before, something that feels like an introduction to the βchangeββ¦
Can someone elaborate? So I can google myself the appropriate music-theory terms to try to understand this in all of itβs facetsβ¦
Thanks!
I was on a zoom call with Marc Ribot (he was talking about his new book). During the q/a I asked him, βIf you could have a signature guitar pedal, what would it do, and who would design the art on it?β
He briefly mentioned that his favorite pedal ever was the old DOD Buzz Box given to him by the Melvinβs guitarist.
Then he said that his would be a wah pedal, and David Hockney would do the art on it.
The David Hockney Marc Ribot Signature Wah Pedal, he said, and laughed.
Just for any fans out there, thought it was cool.
I'm interested if he's ranked high in the jazz guitar community and i would like to know what are your opinions and thoughts about him
Just started but let me know what youβd like!
The last few days Iv been on a MASSIVE Marc Ribot trip again. Theres just something about his playing that floors me. It can feel that's hes just fucked his guitar down the stairs and this noise right til the moment he pulls it back or it can be the most beautiful melodic lines you've ever heard.
Id came across him as Tom Waits guitarist but as I went further down that rabbit hole the more I became taken with the man.
I was very lucky to get to see him at this show in Ireland and honestly it floored me.

Felt like the dude was just playing to me.
Throw his name into YouTube, he does some AMAZING work with John Zorn or he had a epic Cuban infused spell as Los Cubanos or more recently hes had ceramic dog or a colab album songs of resistance.
And each of those projects is different to the last, but, still feels of him? Mans made the guitar his own and in these days of plenty I think that's a substantial feat
I realised a noisy, mostly-improvised solo guitar album. FFO Marc Ribot, Bill Orcutt, Derek Bailey, Fred Frith, Bill Frisell. Hope you enjoy!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pP1-Bm5Zv-4 Perks of transcribing - today: Marc Ribotβs guitar moves - βAurora En Pekinβ by Alfredo BoloΓ±a. Youβll find a common yet hip 7b13 voicing which most recently hasnβt been overplayed in pop music. Also, a nice mix of open string / fretted note 6s towards the end. And a lot of 'mood'.
