A few minutes ago i've learned yet another thing that the ratels are missing. currently they are broken af.
they are missing side and frontal armor, their transmission and mobility is broken to the point where it's slower than a centurion on most terrain and it drives worse than a bus. the ZT3A2 still can't fire on the move and it still lacks 5Β° of depression. why won't gaijin fix them? they could be somewhat decent if they fixed them but they are currently slow light tanks with no armor and shit mobility.
I remember fic where harry finishes animagus transformation and turns into ratel/honey badger I think (point is its pretty much immune to snake venom). I remember there being scene where snake, Nagini maybe, gets into Grimauld place and Harry kills it in his animagus form. Snape is also quite decent in this one. I think it was on ao3 but not entirely sure. If you know what fic it is please link. π thanks
Takealot delivered my Ratel 418 DC-DC UPS today. And it was incredible!
I have a fiber connection at home, and I use a Routerboard 411 with wireless card as a firewall. The Ratel kept the Fiber link up, as well as the Routerboard, for 2 and a half hours, and the indicator showed it was barely at 75% capacity. The Fiber -> Ethernet gateway used the 12V output, and the Routerboard was powered vie POE (15V).
I also shoved two 12v8 Gel batteries in my 1KVa UPS, which kept the main switch and NAS (HP Microserver) live for just over 2 hours (I plugged them in after load shedding started, battery seemed fine when power came back on).
This setup means that my & my family's notebook and cellphones have decent, fast fiber Internet during the dark ages, and we can access documents and Plex.
It's not perfect, but at ~R1000 for the Ratel and ~R100 for the batteries, it's a decent start.
I know the purpose of this vehicle. It has the potential to be sooooooo good. Butβ¦THEY CANT HIT A FUCKING THING LIKE DAMN. the fucking transport is right in front of you. Is anyone else having this issue. Iβll admit it maybe my fault since I to take them as trained because I like having the extra troops but still they should be missing this bad right?
I have no idea whether this unit is useful or not, seems like a very interesting/unique unit to add from a gameplay standpoint but Iβm not sure if itβs at all practical. Havenβt gotten a chance to play the game much in the past couple days so Iβm interested to see what people think of it.

Anyone who is familiar with this particular South African cardboard bus knows its primary weapon is its ATGM launcher, which can hold up to 3 missiles at a time.
However, it also has a main "gun" in its turret. It's a 7.62mm machine gun. It's just as worthless as it sounds.
The reason I brought this up? The ZT3A2 has access to the modifications Adjustment of Fire and Elevation Mechanism. It also has access to a researchable laser rangefinder.
Since none of these are useful in any way for the ATGMs, am I correct in assuming these modifications are entirely for the benefit of the tiddly little machine gun in the turret that couldn't even pen a wooden wardrobe?
The snail must be high as a kite if they think I'm wasting nearly 100,000 RP (no that's not a joke) to make its bum tickler slightly more accurate.
I don't understand how to play this thing. I'm not great with IFVs in the first place but that one is extra painful.
It's slower than a Conqueror on most terrains so you can hardly flank, the gun can barely pen other SPAA/IFVs, the ATGMs are hard to aim due to the 3.5x zoom, it's basically the fortnite battlebus in size so you can't be sneaky either, the only positive aspect of the vehicle is once you're out of ATGM's (aka useless) the bus is empty so it can absorb shots I guess. Also no stabs.
How do I play it? I really want to appreciate it but it's impossible so far. Should I just skip it entirely? Are the ATGM TDs better missile launchers?
I've never been very good at building smaller RBA heads, can anyone recommend a good build for my ratel xs? I love the mod but I can't seem to get the build right
