If we were to start an actual political party, what would be the legislative goals/platform?

This is my short wish list of legislative action that I believe should happen and I know I have left a lot of things out that I am not thinking of. Please help me make this more complete.

  • Profit sharing by law
  • $20 per hour minimum wage, adjusted every year with inflation
  • WFH rights (if it can be done at home)
  • Work comfort rights (if I can sit while working, I can by law)
  • Guaranteed median income for teachers with guaranteed raises 5% above inflation
  • UBI
  • Universal healthcare
  • Politicians paid no more than 120% median income of home district
  • Campaign donations are illegal, fully funded by government
  • 95% taxes on corporate earnings above $1,000,000,000
  • 4 weeks paid vacation
  • 14 sick/personal days
  • 6 months paid paternal leave at 80%, 12 months paid maternal leave at 80%
  • 4 day work weeks, no more than 32 hours
  • Rent cannot increase more than inflation, capped at 1.5%
  • Employers must give a 1 month notice when firing an employee
  • Corporate bailouts are illegal
  • Companies must be profitable to be publicly traded
  • Executive pay is capped at 15x lowest paid employee, no bonuses or golden parachutes
  • Executives paid via stock options are taxed 95% on all unrealized gains above $50,000,000

Edits:

  • Universal free college, make tuition illegal K through Grad
  • Pay ranges must be posted with all job listings
  • For profit prisons illegal, slavery abolished even if a prisoner
  • Victimless crimes are no longer a crime, legalize sex work and drug use (illegal drug sales still illegal)
  • Term limits for Senators (12 yrs) and Congressmen (8 yrs)

CMV: Social media platforms detract from the political wisdom of society, generally speaking

This argument involves two points.

  1. social media sites tend toward majority rule in political views
  2. uniformity makes people less wise

Point 1 :

So I've joined a number of different social media platforms and I've observed discussions on them for years and it seems to me that there is a to common pattern in political discourse: the majority rules. This is because... A) the minority loses the approval of the masses and becomes exhausted by "public" ridicule and having to forever defend themselves. B) the majority gets positive affirmation and tribal support over and over again, incentivizing participation.

This cycle continues to reinforce as one side becomes less interested in engaging and this withdraws from the conversation, leading to an echo chamber of the majority view. E.g left wing r/politics.

An important nuance here. I'm not saying that the entire site will become one way because there are groups within social media sites where minorities can make themselves into a majority within that domain. E.g. right wing r/conservatives. However, where self-segregation is facilitated, political one-sidedness may be more persistent.

Point 2 :

First, defining politically wise: i mean having an informed understanding of the tradeoffs involved with certain political outcomes, and as a corollary, being able to understand and being sympathetic to the perspectives the opposing political party.

So why? People for the most part sort themselves into groups where they feel at home, which buttress them against the weight of viewpoints they don't agree with. (It seems like feeling a sense of belonging matters more than logic to our opinions.) This factor seems to far outweigh the role of considering new data in determining our political beliefs. Even having read through many political CMVs, which is a place where people who want "honest" debate should be the majority, I don't think I've ever seen one person fully change there view on an issue.

Once people have sorted themselves, they start to feel more entrenched in their beliefs because they are normalized to a new overton window. People become more and more aware of why their views make sense and less and less aware of gaps in their thinking. This overall makes the basis of their beliefs more emotional and less rational without any intellectual foundation to support contradicting beliefs (e.g. "how could someone think that? They must be evil.") The "other" group becomes demonized and validations of opposin

Have you ever been shamed on Indian Dating Platforms because of your political views ?

I am completely open minded about accepting views of all political leanings but when it comes to dating I find, more often than not, right wing political views don't usually go down well. Even though in almost all cases I am having a "discussion" and not a "debate" and definitely not forcing down my wanted opinion down the throat of the other person. I am not a hard core right-winger. I have certain opinions which align with left and the others with right but it's more often that it's the right leaning opinion that doesn't usually go down well with the other person. What's been your experience so far?

The anti-technology platform will be central to the Christo-Fascist political agenda in 2024

Signs indicate that what is to be Revealed by the Christo-Fascists in 2024, will be a complete reversal of technologies that we depend on for our everyday lives. What Kevin Kelly refers to as "the inevitable", will be reversed, unless you learn how to code.

These freaks will stop at nothing to stop any force (including consent) that parries their demon lord, Jehovah. The Christos refer to equal opportunity as "playing god". And they've already gone all in.

Three weeks ago, the Project Blitz monsters dedicated 10 illion dollars (USD) to support State candidates that promise/vow (against the US Const) to obliterate the laws protecting the Internet.

I don't understand Liberal niceness and apathy, both go hand in hand. Because if, for just one friggin seckkkond, you took a look around you, outside of your comfy environment(s), you'd see the decay; the sickness that is creepin' up on you.

It cannot be stressed enough, you are already in the Fight For The World, a premature ejaculation known as the "End Times". And within said context anything, anything that is viewed as un-Christo, such as Humanism, is aimed to be destroyed.

Hail Satan.

Good Night and Good Luck.

The National Justice Party is a newly formed American political party. What do you think of their 25-point platform?
  1. The United States of America will be declared an outpost of Western civilization and a state dedicated to its European-heritage population and their posterity. It will be the policy of the state to set immigration and natal policy that will ensure a permanent European majority. The rights of historic minority populations will be respected.

  2. We demand the extension of the 1964 Civil Rights act to provide equal protections and privileges to the White majority, or the act must be repealed.

  3. We support the nationalization and strategic break ups of banks, mass media, and monopolistic corporations in order to create public accountability and guarantee that they serve the nation first.

  4. We support a two percent ceiling on Jewish employment in vital institutions so that they better represent the ethnic and regional population balance of the country.

  5. We support the sacred rights of free speech, freedom of religion and freedom of association. Political views will not be censored by the state or any large private concerns. It will be illegal for any employer to retaliate against workers for political activism and expression outside the workplace.

  6. We support private property rights, including a program to make home ownership more accessible to stably employed family men. Small businesses and communities will be granted the right to refuse service or home ownership to anyone for any reason they see fit.

  7. We stand firm in defense of the right of law abiding citizens to own firearms.

  8. We demand the FBI, which acts as nothing more than a political secret police force for elite interests, be abolished and replaced with a legitimate federal law enforcement agency.

  9. We demand an end to political contributions and corporate lobbying. Elections must be publicly financed.

  10. The corrupt two party system must be abolished and replaced by a system that offers real representation to racial groups and economic classes.

  11. We oppose America’s ongoing military entanglements and demand the return of all troops to the homeland. We will engage in diplomacy under the doctrine of ”America First” and cease the internationalist project of exporting liberalism.

  12. We will nationalize the defense industry and make war profiteering a criminal act. All able bodied men will be conscripted into national service.

  13. Lobbying on behalf of foreign nations will be banned and classified as espionage. Foreign negotiations will be conducted through official diploma

If it could be shown through polling (or other statistical evidence whatever that may be) that dropping gun control measures from democratic party platforms would bring in enough conservative voters to help alleviate other political issues via house/Senate numbers, would that be worth it?

It's been said that a major obstacle for Democrats in drawing in certain demographics are specific gun control measures like magazine capacity bans, another "assault" weapons ban and the so called "gun show loop hole" of private sales being prohibited. Speaking personally and as someone who is a hobbyist but is quite knowledgeable in the subject, I can't help but agree. The more I came to learn about how firearms work while actually using them, the more something like magazine bans and what is at the end of the day little more than cosmetic changes when it comes to assault weapon bans were being talked about, the more I found myself wondering why left wing politicians spend so much time on them.

So I started thinking, what if we could poach enough voters in the form of young college age men who grew up playing call of duty and doom and the like who when old enough, got into firearms as a hobby, but otherwise have little in common with GOP politics or policy. The number of these individuals has got to be statistically significant. That's virtually every dude I know, lol. These same dudes are pro cannabis legalization on a federal level, and are mostly open to arguments for single payer healthcare systems, various labor specific issues and many who are aware of the details of immigration recognize a need for a change to a broken system at least. Very few of these individuals seem to have a dog in the abortion fight, and they are by and large not religious enough to care about moral grandstanding. Most are primarily concerned with the job market and the ability to have a roof over their head that wont cave in on them.

Plus, as someone who will always be far more sympathetic to left wing ideals than right, after witnessing the four years between 2016 and 2020 and all that was the trump admin and then living less than a mile from where George floyd was murdered and having to console and calm down an elderly, sick mother and even older grandmother while businesses were being burned down two blocks away....trying to make an argument that we are all enjoying a level of public safety sufficient to make an argument that personal defense of ones life is not a real priority is not only gonna not play very well, it could cost another major national election....I just feel that things like healthcare, jobs/labor and other areas of life could be drastically improved with a super majority in the House and Senate or even just enough votes to pass meaningful legislation

A platform for all political causes, with a section for discourse, with the purpose of being to build common ground, not to scream at eachother that the other side is wrong like monkeys. Here's the layout

Main page, forum All groups/ click on a group-> goes to subreddit like thread of conversations click on a conversation, Conversation thread: topic, premises, conclusion, Comments under title, each comment can be highlighted by other people and challenged, hyperlinks and sources used to challenge claims made by people debating, moderators from every group can comb the comments and come to new conclusions based on evidence, eventually common ground and very obvious disagreements on specific issues will hash out. The differences get highlighted as new conversations with new premises and conclusions that everyone comments on. Repeat.

People would have a karma score to flag trolls democratically, NO ONE WOULD BE CENSORED, if they're talking about the some insane nonsense, everyone else can also tell they are talking about insane nonsense, if they gain traction, dispell their notion with science and evidence, highlight their comments, flag for moderation, becomes new conversation,

Some sort of streamlined mechanism for hashing out ideas dialectically. Something that reflects the principles of the enlightenment, philosophy and the scientific method. Something that allows for echo chambers and tribalism, but inherently encourages people to talk to eachother from across the aisle.

There should also be a universal library of documentaries and lectures on the platform, a resource library for peopel to learn to think critically, learn history, learn economics, learn science etc...

Social media with the intention of making NEW friends, and learning new things from people WHO DONT THINK LIKE YOU.

The wolrd is facing more existential threats than we can count on both hands. We need a global epistemological moritorium and an honest attempt to achieve a universal epistemological foundation of principles upon which we can agree.

Democracy is honestly impossible. The mob is too fickle to meet everyone's needs, values and opinions vary wildly. There is no way to come to universal consensus on everything or even most things, but reasonable people need a space to join together to learn from eachother.

Lastly book reviews from Johnathon haidt, yuval noah harari, Jared diamond, famous scientists and psychologists, etc.... we should have group readings and discuss how we relate to the material and why it's crucial to buying a path to peace.

Phunware: The Political Engagement Platform and Blockchain

I listened to the full Benzinga interview with Phunware COO Randall Crowder and Board Member Ryan Costello and it got me fired up about this company. I decided to summarize their explanation of the business and its goals along with quotes from the two. Here it is.

Phunware is a mobile platform that allows constituents to engage with their politicians in a decentralized way, allowing constituents to monetize their verifiable political data on a blockchain in order to reflect these constituents’ interests, which in turn helps candidates produce more effective campaigns. Politicians are incentivized to pay for political data because it is the backbone of winning any campaign, and constituents are incentivized to engage with their politicians to have their views reflected. Phunware seeks to replace traditional political advertising particularly social media by redefining how constituents engage with their politicians. The Trump 2020 campaign was planning to outsource their data intelligence to Salesforce, but a campaign insider asserted the reality that this company was the only company that could do so. At that time they were managing all of Fox News’ mobile applications.

β€”

β€œIf you want the Trump experience, we can do that right now for you…What you can do in the real world is things like rallies, events.”

β€œCome for the meme, stay for the company.”

β€œWhat Trump is trying to do is disruption. It’s dis-intermediating the middle man, and I think that’s what people in their soul just do not feel comfortable with. That’s probably the greatest threat to our democracy, is the prevention of the fair exchange of ideas.”

β€œ50% revenue guidance in Q3, 100% revenue guidance in Q4.”

β€œAt the time [we began working with Trump] we were managing all of Fox’s [News] entire mobile ecosystem. You have a company that can buy and build anything they want, and their outsourcing to Phunware.”

β€”COO Randall Crowder

β€”

β€œThe constant engagement with constituents and voters is the difference between winning and losing.”

β€œThere is not confidence that you get full participation on social media platforms…and the objective is frankly to push through those algorithms,”

β€œIt’s not just political candidates, it’s issue advocacy organizations and associations that highly value this type of engagement.”

β€œDon’t try to convince a voter why you’re right, find a voter where they are.”

β€”Board Member Ryan Costello
