A list of puns related to "Mestizo"
So I am very curious about the Quechua language. Is it a language that is commonly heard in Peru? Is it a language only spoken by the Indigenous people, or is it a language spoken by all different types of people. Have you ever seen a White speaker?
One thing I've noticed is essentially the "fake progressiveness" of a lot of "woke" people, and I think a good example of this is actually the push for "Latinx" or even variations such as "Chicanx" by "well-meaning white liberals" and some whitewashed visible minorities.
However, one thing I've noticed is that no "woke" person actually wants to normalize the concept of what most Hispanics and Latinos actually are, which is "mixed race", mostly either being "mestizo" (of mixed European and Amerindian heritage) or "mulatto" (or mixed European and West African heritage).
And...I find it a little odd. Maybe it's me being ethnically mixed myself which might make me a little more perceptive to these sort of things, but it seems a little odd for "woke" shitlibs to go all in on a term that basically just amounts to "Spanish speaker" and doesn't really mean anything to actual Latin Americans.
Especially considering that within the Hispanic community there is actual racism that exists, between White Latinos and mixed-race or Native Latinos, but also racism perpetrated by White or mixed-race Latinos against Afro-Latinos, such as the concept of kinkier hair being "ugly", or even an idea carried by a lot of mixed-race Latinos of Mejorar la raza ("Improve the Race") which encourages nonwhite Hispanics to marry a white person to basically "improve" the bloodline.
Point being, "Latinx" seems like one of the laziest attempts to "sound progressive" ever, while completely ignoring actual issues of race, ethnicity and culture that could be addressed in a nuanced way.
Someone just told me โmestizo es considerado una โrazaโ en los censos de latinoamerica o cรณmo clasificarรญa as a todas las personas con rasgos indรญgenas y blancosโ
Iโm confused is โmestizo โ a race or just a term?
A Friend knew this guy whose family came from Venezuela that got some type scholarship from a Latin organization. He and his parent don't look any different than most white American. He would check Hispanic on his college application but is listed as white in doctor records and etc. I know some actual mestizo looking ones that do the same thing and list themselves as white or just hispanic when its convenient. Note this isn't always the case where they are automatically lump in as white like in FBI records or census but do it voluntary. My Aunt was renting a house for a client but got a confused when they showed up because they filled out an application that said they were white. It was a bit obvious since the last name was Spanish sounding but she thought they were at the wrong address so it kinda flew through her head at first. If you live in Cali or other places with a heavy latino population you will kinda notice this a lot. Not sure if it was just me.
Most Hapa I met had asian listed in their voter registration. Heard a few put just white in college application before. I think the vast majority of biracial I knew identify themselves as black in both college and job application.
So itโs no big secret that thereโs a color line drawn throughout the Americas, Canada and the United States included. And itโs no big secret that Native Americans in both the US and Canada are usually part white due to colonization. Also, thereโs been a lot of immigrants coming up from Latin America recently, and most of these immigrants are mestizos, which is a mixture of Amerindian and White [usual Spanish]. And there's been this push to get rid of the ethnic term Hispanic because the term Hispanic is too broad and doesn't make any sense given the color divide. As a result, there are people from the Mestizo ethnic group that want to identify as Native American now. Identity is hard and complicated and there are many layers and historical context to keep in mind. And I wanted to get an idea of what First Nations people think about this identity shift. Is it good that Mestizos identify with their Amerindian heritage or is it bad? Iโve heard Native peoples say it's bad and feel strongly against this because First peoples feel like Mestizos adopting this identity is a form of erasure that negates their own culture and communal issues. However, I've met some Natives who fully embrace Mestizos as Native and are glad to see Mestizos are embracing their indigeneity. Where do you stand on this issue and if you don't want Mestizos to identify as Native also keep in mind the crumbling status of the blanket term Hispanic what should be the alternative?

I live in the USA. And I meet some Arabs who have told me they have people who are of a Latin American background speak to them in Spanish. And obviously those Arabic people don't speak Spanish. But I'm wondering if any Latin Americans that been to countries that don't have a lot of a people of a Latin American background. Ever been confused as another group of people such as Indians or Arabic. Such as having people speak to you in their language.
Does there exist a term for people have mixed ethnic ancestry? What is it called? Or is it term for specific ethnic mixes?
We know that the Spaniards gave status to Mestizos and they would have allied with them in general, but are there any reports of Spaniards maybe having relations (ie:nonconsensual ) with Inca/Aztec women, and they then having raised those kids within the Inca/Aztec lifestyle and/ or participated in the rebellions against the Spaniards ?
I'm just asking as a point of reference.
It literally means half-breed, like you're some sort of animal. It was a racist invention by the Spanish as part of their caste system, where having some white blood made you better, but the connotation was you're still inferior because you're not fully white.
People hurl it at me to hate on me claiming my race as American Indian, even though that's the majority of my makeup. Even though I've done the genealogy and found 13 indigenous ancestors on paper, knowing that my tribe is Chichimeca.
Always that same damn word, the haters parroting it with zero brain cells. What's funny is that the Spanish were very particular with their racial grading system. A mestizo is implied to be a 50/50 split of native and white, with no other race mixed in. Most Central and South Americans can't be mestizo due to the presence of black DNA. There's another caste term for what we would technically be lol.
And there's an insidious little hatred on the part of those racist modern wannabe Spanish enforcers. In Spanish, mixed means "mezclado" or "mixto". But they insist on saying half-breed, on using this nasty term. This has been my experience.
But I don't care. They can hate. I'm still American Indian at the end of the day. It's not my fault my tribe was assimilated and was ethnically cleansed. I still honor them as the badasses they were - they didn't lose against the Spaniards in their war from 1550-1590. They had to be paid to be peaceful, to become Catholic. Never actually defeated militarily. Long live the Chichimecas, those of us with the blood pulsing through our veins.

Spanish and Portuguese colonies in the new world were racially diverse. Having the remaining natives, africans, or europeans intermarry. But the Spanish colonies were very strict and rigid in structure and social advancement. And today most modern Hispanics/Latinos trace their roots to either of the aformentioned groups. So my question is why didnโt we see the same in the less socially strict 13 colonies? Or the other English and French colonies for that matter?
