As you've seen, Jana Duggar was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor.

She was arrested for 3rd degree child endangerment and then released on bail.

So I recently read about the laundry room meltdown. Michelle says the Jill was the first to be assigned a buddy, and then in an interview she says Jill is her oldest daughter. Why wasn’t Jana the first to have a buddy? It seems like they just wrote Jana off. I wonder if there is something secretive going on or if they genuinely just forget about her? Either one is definitely possible. It just seems odd they would forget about their first daughter. Just for fun if you think she has some secret what could it be?

• Endangering the Welfare of a Minor in the First Degree is a Class D felony. This penalty applies to a parent, guardian or other person legally responsible for maintaining the care of a child. Crimes that fall in this category are those that create an environment that poses a risk of serious injury or death to the minor or if the adult deserts the child under the age of ten in that type of environment.
• Endangering the Welfare of a Minor in the Second Degree is a Class A Misdemeanor. The responsible adult knowingly behaves in a way that causes harm or serious injury to a minor’s physical or mental well-being. Harm or injury is considered to be a lingering disfigurement, sustained damage to a vital organ or body part or a diminished mental or physical capacity.
• Endangering the Welfare of a Minor in the Third Degree is a Class B misdemeanor. The responsible adult’s behavior leads to the harm or injury of a minor’s physical and mental welfare. Harm or injury are the same as above.

so because jana was classed in the third degree, this leads me to believe this is a one off case, not a first degree case which would indicate a longer term issue. the law source i've found has indicated some possible reasons why she's been charged.

• Driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle (doubt it's this one)
• Leaving a child alone and unsupervised with access to dangerous weapons (seems more likely)
• Leaving a child unattended in an unsafe area or vehicle (seems very likely)
• Hiring or leaving a child with a person that has a known history of sexual offenses to supervise a child (not saying anything on this one)
• Leaving another young child unsupervised to care for a young child (.....)
• Providing drugs or alcohol to an underage driver (again, doubtful)

but the most important thing is that Jana does face jail time, three months of it if convicted, so we could have two Duggar's in prison in the new year. did not have this on my bingo card.

What do you think Jana did to get arrested for child endangerment? Wrong answers only.

My guess is that she let the lost kids walk on those giant beams that they have in their ceiling.

Edit: Ooh I thought of another one. She forced them to paint in the greenhouse again, and when they weren't painting how she wanted she locked them in and threw away the key.

Edit 2: I changed my mind, she forgot to Photoshop Meech's knees out of a birthday post and got arrested for Nike-ing the entire family.

Does it have to do with being a Golden Child? Or they couldn't find somebody to marry her off to?

I think we're all assuming the best in Jana with the recent charges, and a big part of me wants to think that too. However, I think we need to remember that what we know of Jana and who she is, is all exactly what JB/Meech wanted to portray on the show, and what she herself wanted to portray on social media. None of us know what this grown 31-year old woman is actually like, and the fact that she's still living at home means that she could very well be the closest to her parents and way up under JB's thumb. She deserves a fair trial and justice, don't get me wrong, but I think we need to stop assuming she's a golden girl who sits at home gardening-- We don't know Jana. We do know that she's deep in the cult, and the women actively participate alongside the men.

Speculation has it that Jana fell asleep while supervising some of the little ones, or otherwise failed to supervise a swarm of them closely enough. If that’s the case, and if I were the judge for Jana’s case, I’d put the blame where it belongs, on the family members who have long taken advantage of her for free childcare.

I would give her the maximum length sentence, but all out on parole probation. The condition of the parole probation is that she is not allowed to supervise more than two minor-aged children at a time, for a maximum of three hours at a time, with a minimum of twelve hours between each supervision period. Hard to take advantage of her when a judge has imposed limits.
