The reason Jim Bob and Michelle or Anna aren't being "held accountable" for what happened is because Jana. is. a. grown. woman.

She is not a child. She is a grown woman who was in charge of children she chose to watch (more on this in a moment) and she is the one who lost one of them. It is her fault.

Children wandering out the door the moment you have your back turned is not uncommon. I'm not saying Jana deserves to be crucified. But I am saying that raging about how it should be Anna or Jim Bob or Michelle who have charges against them for this particular incident is nonsensical. They aren't the ones who lost the child.

Jana, the grown woman, did.

JB and Meech should have been arrested decades ago for child abuse, and that they weren't is infuriating. That they have faced no consequences for the physical, spiritual, emotional, and sexual abuse of their children is disgusting. That they continue to abuse and exploit their children is disgusting.

Anna continued to have sex and provide children to a man she knew was a child molester. She continues to raise her children in an abusive cult, and stand proudly beside a known child molester, and continued to allowed access to her children to a known child molester. She is also a disgusting person.

So is Jana, though, and this particular incident is her fault. Two things can be true.

Jana being Chief Sister Mom is a **choice** she has made for the last 13 years. She is a grown woman. She does not have to live at home. She, unlike her sisters, was not married off as a 20 year old. She does not have any children that are legally her own. She is free to make the choices that benefit her and only her as she sees fit.

She chooses to stay Chief Sister Mom. She could say no to watching children. She doesn't. What happens to them when they are under her care is indeed HER fault, as she is a 31 year old, grown woman.

I understand that she comes from a fucked up background -- so do all the rest of her sisters and brothers. So does Anna. This doesn't excuse them from any and all wrong-doing. At some point, accountability and autonomy does come into play.

Jana has had 13 years as an adult in her home to stop the abuse her siblings are experiencing. She didn't. In fact, as Chief Sister Mom, she is likely in charge of dolling out the abuse, and sending the children off to be abused by Meech and Boob. She is at the very least complicit in the mistreatment and abuse of all of her siblings, and likely the abuser o

As you've seen, Jana Duggar was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor.

She was arrested for 3rd degree child endangerment and then released on bail.

I must say I don’t feel the same anger and sense of schadenfreude at the news of Jana’s charges. At least not until more details come out. The kids have been brought up in a cult and indoctrinated in much of their behavior. Jana is a victim of her parents and of circumstance. She’s been exploited and abused for decades. Given the charge is a misdemeanor I suspect it’s something as relatively minor as a kid getting away from the house unknowingly. This is something that can happen to the best of parents.

Josh’s situation is completely different. His disgusting behavior was not just swept under the rug but enabled. To the complete surprise of no one it escalated. The plight of his victims was completely ignored by his parents illustrating that the girls are of no more value to them then serving as breeding stock. Josh is a legitimate monster and Meech and Boob effectively showed that they would rather support an adulterous, CSAM consuming molester than their daughters. Fuck Josh. Fuck Meech. Fuck JB

Im withholding judgement on Jana until we know more. But I’m just not prepared to vilify the kids for things that can happen to anyone.

So I recently read about the laundry room meltdown. Michelle says the Jill was the first to be assigned a buddy, and then in an interview she says Jill is her oldest daughter. Why wasn’t Jana the first to have a buddy? It seems like they just wrote Jana off. I wonder if there is something secretive going on or if they genuinely just forget about her? Either one is definitely possible. It just seems odd they would forget about their first daughter. Just for fun if you think she has some secret what could it be?

• Endangering the Welfare of a Minor in the First Degree is a Class D felony. This penalty applies to a parent, guardian or other person legally responsible for maintaining the care of a child. Crimes that fall in this category are those that create an environment that poses a risk of serious injury or death to the minor or if the adult deserts the child under the age of ten in that type of environment.
• Endangering the Welfare of a Minor in the Second Degree is a Class A Misdemeanor. The responsible adult knowingly behaves in a way that causes harm or serious injury to a minor’s physical or mental well-being. Harm or injury is considered to be a lingering disfigurement, sustained damage to a vital organ or body part or a diminished mental or physical capacity.
• Endangering the Welfare of a Minor in the Third Degree is a Class B misdemeanor. The responsible adult’s behavior leads to the harm or injury of a minor’s physical and mental welfare. Harm or injury are the same as above.

so because jana was classed in the third degree, this leads me to believe this is a one off case, not a first degree case which would indicate a longer term issue. the law source i've found has indicated some possible reasons why she's been charged.

• Driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle (doubt it's this one)
• Leaving a child alone and unsupervised with access to dangerous weapons (seems more likely)
• Leaving a child unattended in an unsafe area or vehicle (seems very likely)
• Hiring or leaving a child with a person that has a known history of sexual offenses to supervise a child (not saying anything on this one)
• Leaving another young child unsupervised to care for a young child (.....)
• Providing drugs or alcohol to an underage driver (again, doubtful)

but the most important thing is that Jana does face jail time, three months of it if convicted, so we could have two Duggar's in prison in the new year. did not have this on my bingo card.

What do you think Jana did to get arrested for child endangerment? Wrong answers only.

My guess is that she let the lost kids walk on those giant beams that they have in their ceiling.

Edit: Ooh I thought of another one. She forced them to paint in the greenhouse again, and when they weren't painting how she wanted she locked them in and threw away the key.

Edit 2: I changed my mind, she forgot to Photoshop Meech's knees out of a birthday post and got arrested for Nike-ing the entire family.

Does it have to do with being a Golden Child? Or they couldn't find somebody to marry her off to?

I think we're all assuming the best in Jana with the recent charges, and a big part of me wants to think that too. However, I think we need to remember that what we know of Jana and who she is, is all exactly what JB/Meech wanted to portray on the show, and what she herself wanted to portray on social media. None of us know what this grown 31-year old woman is actually like, and the fact that she's still living at home means that she could very well be the closest to her parents and way up under JB's thumb. She deserves a fair trial and justice, don't get me wrong, but I think we need to stop assuming she's a golden girl who sits at home gardening-- We don't know Jana. We do know that she's deep in the cult, and the women actively participate alongside the men.

Speculation has it that Jana fell asleep while supervising some of the little ones, or otherwise failed to supervise a swarm of them closely enough. If that’s the case, and if I were the judge for Jana’s case, I’d put the blame where it belongs, on the family members who have long taken advantage of her for free childcare.

I would give her the maximum length sentence, but all out on parole probation. The condition of the parole probation is that she is not allowed to supervise more than two minor-aged children at a time, for a maximum of three hours at a time, with a minimum of twelve hours between each supervision period. Hard to take advantage of her when a judge has imposed limits.
