A list of puns related to "Introducing... The Beatles"
I got into the Beatles in a weird way, I listened to Abbey Road first, then Revolver-Let It Be, then the rest in a scattered order
I want to get my sister into them as well, I was thinking starting with 1, or Revolver
I'm doing a covers project with my band, and we've entered into a dispute while working out our set lists as to how well the general public know the Beatles' music. Like, everyone knows "Hey Jude", but most people probably wouldn't recognise "Your Mother Should Know", or "It's Only Love" (I think). The problem is that each of us seems to be of the impression that our level of familiarity with their music is a good representation of the general population.
So how well do you all know the Beatles'music?
There were a lot of better musicians at the time of the Beatles British Invasion. I get it, they were the original boy band, and women of the times fawned over them buuuuut.......musically they were mediocre at best compared to other musicians at the time. I canβt understand what people are hearing that makes their music so groundbreaking.
Edit: if itβs any consolation, I donβt like the Stones either, or Ted Nugent, and a myriad of other βgroundbreakingβ musicians.
It seems to be quite unanimous that The Bootleg Beatles are pretty much the best Beatles tribute act around, which I agree with, as I've seen them 3 times and they're fantastic! However, I just saw one last night I hadn't seen before and would recommend them too. If you're ever in Liverpool, check out The Cavern Club Beatles. They do a similar style show to The Bootleg Beatles, in that they perform Beatles songs through the ages, covering most albums, and also alter their look to reflect the boys' changing image as the show goes on. I just can't get over the guy who plays George - he's obviously studied all of George's on stage mannerisms, and has got them down to a t! The leg, the eyebrow wiggle, the cheeky smile and everything. Also, The Cavern Club Beatles are very accessible, as while The Bootleg Beatles only tour when they tour, The Cavern Club Beatles play the Cavern twice a week every week, and are also a little cheaper. I had a great night last night, and so did my American friend who loves The Beatles, who I took to the show.
If you have any other Beatles tribute recommendations, post em here! I've seen a few, but The Bootleg Beatles and The Cavern Club Beatles have been my favourites so far.
We all know the struggles of starting a new adventure and asking the very first question after having gone meticulously through character creation with each and every of your players: "So who are you tonight? Introduce us to your Character."
*frantiv paper rustling* "My Char...? Oh... uhm... ehm, so, my characters name... uhm, let me see, where is it? Ehm, he, i mean she... She? Oh, yes, i made her a woman. So, uhm, she is a barbarian... uhm, yeah. ... Yeah."
Yeah... . There have been countless solutions out there. Matthew Mercer once introduced the camera focusing on each character one after the other having the players describe what you can see through it. Which is a great way to guide your players into the world. You can even modifiy this tip e.g. "Each character goes through the tavern door one after the other.". I once had a mighty wizard talking to her pupil while she was looking into her crystal ball watching the party.
Last week though i took a different approach for a one shot with 3/4 completely new players. My setup was an delivery/escort mission, but the quest givers had gambled on the insurance money. They hired unfit adventurers (=lv1) and had planned an ambush. My start for the campaign was the quest giver interviewing each of them for the job and i asked them all the cheesy "what is your biggest weakness?" and "Why are you here? What is your motivation?"-questions. I never had a party getting into character so quickly before.
βWe used to have a 100-hour work week, 6 days a week. In 1940 the US made the βradicalβ shift to a 40-hour week that we enjoy today. Now 80 years later we need to re-think that paradigm.β - Sen. Joe Nguyen
It would downsize the official workweek to 32 hours in Washington. After that, qualifying workers would have to be paid time and a half. The full text of the bill is at the link.
