Iβm having difficulty finding any definite answers to this, but would it be possible to graft herbaceous alkaloid-containing scions onto normal rootstocks? Examples being salvia divinorum with pineapple sage or cannabis with hops. Thanks in advance.

Here the picture of the belladonna looks herbaceous, but the lady in the blog says it is a woody shrub. Now, there are also pictures in that same blog and in the internet that show a more woody stem.
So can the belladonna be both woody and herbaceous? If so, are there other plants that are like this?

We found this herbaceous plant in the Hortus Botanicus in Leiden. It smelled amazing, like cumin and citrus. It was located in the Chinese section. The leaves were thin and delicate and smelled even better and stronger when rolled between our fingers. The plant was about as high as me (1,80 cm).
