A list of puns related to "Eyelet"
Violet Lining / Shell Cordovan insole
The Green Moss JR soles after wearing them a couple of times
So, it that time of the year and i'm back with a new pair of shoe. Last year i acquired a Customised Shell Split Toe Chukka from Carmina, the whole experience has been amazing... so... oops, i did it again.
I waited the Custom weekend in october and i shot for a 4 eyelets wholecut, it's the 80169 on the Carmina website.
This is the rendering on the carmina website: https://carminacustom.com/2XejzMG
βSo here it's how i customised it: i choose the Marbled Shell cordovan from Horween, a violet calf lining, JR sole painted Moss Green, Double sole, 360 goodyear storm welted with a hard fudging.
To create something truly unique i applied a different leather to the tongue, so i choose Tan Museum.
βSince i don't feel confortable wearing pointy/narrow shoes, i chose the Oscar last, wide and sturdy, the perfect fit for my feet. I saw that the 80169 usually comes with the Inca last, but as i said, Oscar is perfect for me.
Also, another big detail is the shell cordovan insole which feels soooo confortable.
βNow, the 80169 with Burgundy museum leather is priced at 410β¬ taxes inc. (465 usd), my configuration will take you to 916β¬ (1040 usd).
I chose a Violet stitching, even if it's a wholecut so there are not a lot of stitches in plain sight.
The Marbled Shell cordovan looks and feels amazing, it also smells pretty good.
The package arrived
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hello all, I've finally went and bought my very own pair of Iron Rangers. I've been saving up for quite a while and they're the first "good" pair of shoes that I own. So far I'm loving how they look and after about a month of breaking in they're very very comfortable to wear. That said, there is what appears to be a relatively common QC problem with my left boot.
Unlike my right boot and most Iron Rangers I've seen online, the left boot's tongue seems to be made from a far lower grade of loose grain, possibly belly leather which is thin enough for the eyelets of my boot to dig into the top of my ankle causing some excruciating pain.
I have some basic leather crafting experience and I'm a very technical person. The only solution I can think of which I might be able to DIY is to add a layer of leather or suede behind the tongue to add much needed structure to it. The only thing I'm afraid of is the possibility that my left boot will feel hugely different to my right one. Should I try my local cobbler instead?
Thank you all in advance!!
TLDR; left boot's tongue is too thin, eyelets dig into my ankle causing extreme pain.
Pics:
The FR1s have very wide spacing between eyelets, and the lacing can only do so much. I'm thinking of drilling a few holes to add some eyelets.
Is this a phenomenally bad idea? Has anyone tried it?
Thanks for the help.
I absolutely love Anatometalβs Gemmed Eyelets. I would love to buy a pair in high polish steel, with cubic zirconia gems. I am a 00. Something like this.
However, I fear it could be too βblingyβ looking (I am a 33 year old man, self employed therapist) and I donβt want people to think I am a doofus.
I could buy a pair with black stones. Less blingy, I might not like them as much but who knows.
One thing would be to buy a second pair with either the aforementioned black stones or a more colorful theme that would be less βblingyβ but I do like the originals and frankly these are expensive so it is hard to order two pair. Some other variants:
Also, this is what I look like if that helps: pictures of me
Thank you :)

Hi homeimprovement!
I have some curtains with eyelets that I need to hang, although the rail in the apartment I am in has a clip rail. What's the best way out of this situation?
- Add gathering tape to the back of the curtains and hook it up?
- Get rid of the curtains?
- Replace the rail (see note: it's not so easy to replace the rails here since the window frame goes to the end o the wall, there's not much room to hang the rail from it. And it's also a 4m long wall).
