Dorothea Puns

Not really sure why I seem to LOVE most of the songs that the majority of fans collectively agree on as being some of the worst from their albums.

My favorite song off Fearless (honestly I don't listen to this album bc I'm not a country fan) is Jump Then Fall.

My favorite from Red is Sad Beautiful Tragic (also love Run and it seems that's also suuuper unpopular).

And on evermore I absolutely ADORE Dorothea. This song is so so so much fun to sing along to. The instrumental is just so happy and pleasing to the ear. Even tho it's a song about longing it still makes my heart feel joyous. But i always see it ranked at the bottom of evermore. And watching YouTube reactors the majority label it as one of the only skips. But shout out to AjayII who gave it a spot on her top songs of 2020. I felt SEEN. Anyone else love this track? And why? Or any others that are huge for you but largely ignored by the masses?

So I was just bouncing around another site checking in on a thread about that child’s skull found in a dumpster and ran into a case about another unidentified child in Sacramento.

In this case, it was just eleven teeth found, all believed to be from the same child, in a yard on F street. While one poster immediately thought of the skull found six years later, I immediately thought of Dorothea Puente and looked up the address of her house. Sure enough, it was the house right next door. Then I saw the found date matched up to when she was making headlines.

Googling “Dorothea Puente Teeth” led me to another article that mentioned most of her victims were found without teeth, and two dozen teeth were thrown into her neighbor’s yard.

So there you have it, there’s half a mouthful of an unidentified child’s teeth that almost certainly have something to do with Dorothea Puente. But whose teeth are they?

I have so many questions.

AND SECONDLY, i have no idea if anyone else noticed this, but while i was listening to dorothea, i was wondering why taylor specifically chose the name 'dorothea' for this song, and i thought - could it be the name of one of karlie's relatives? (i 100% think that 'dorothea' is about karlie - it can't get anymore obvious than "selling dreams, selling make up and magazines")

i googled karlie's family tree (the site i used was gw.geneanet.org) and her great-grandmother's name is Ella Dorthea Viejen. (karlie -> kurt (dad) -> bernard (grandfather) -> ella dorthea (paternal great-grandmother))

is this just a coincidence or... ??? 🤨🤨 it's not the exact same name, but pretty close!

Caspar gets a C-. Not great but a nice improvement from when he was unanimously considered bottom tier.

Here are the rules:

• A: Nice! While not as centralizing as S tiers, they are still very strong and will likely be among your top 6 team members.

• B (Hubert): Not bad. They do their job solidly, but you'll usually have better options in S/A tiers.

• C (Caspar): Meh. It's going to take some effort making them stand out, and they'll frequently be filler units.

• D: Big oof. You're praying you don't get these units. You'd almost rather bench them and spend the extra exp on someone more worthwhile.

3. For the sake of some ordering, I will also sometimes ask if they are better than a similar unit. Also answer this in bold. It will only matter if they end up in the same place.

4. Assumes Maddening, NG, DLC. Feel free to discuss the bonus stat boosters/Chalice/sauna, as honestly I really don't think they would amount to any big tier list changes. Also assume efficient (but not LTC) gameplay, so try not to use auxiliary grinding as a way to defend a weaker unit.

5. Up to you on deciding how much availability and/or different performance in each route matters, but please account for it in some way.

6. You can give credit for items that the unit comes with, but they should still stay in the same tier. For example let's say normally Lorenz would be D tier. If we account for Thyrsus, that would move him up to D+ at most.

Our next unit is Dorothea, with this question: Is this unit better than Marianne? Both are middle-of-the-road mages best known for their dancing prowess.

Let me explain. I've been depressed for the past year so I didn't listen to breakup/love songs, they'd make my depression worse. Even when folklore came out I didn't intend to listen to it, but it was everywhere so I gave it a listen but I couldn't listen to most of the songs until recently.

The same applied to evermore. I heard some songs I thought were gaylor related, like happiness, tolerate it, and champagne problems because of the hype. I read the lyrics of some other songs but that was it.

Anyway, I finally got the courage to listen to ivy and dorothea and HOW does anyone think this song is straight? She's singing about a woman who sells magazine and someone who she met under the bleachers aka in secret. She didn't meet Selena in secret. Then there's the lyric about dorothea knowing people who she's tired of being associated with, which is clearly about the kushners.

It's clearly a song about Taylor cyber stalking a woman who's really famous and beautiful, and Taylor keeps telling her to come to Taylor's side again if that's fine with her. Like a "my door is always open" sort of a thing.

For context, I'm planning on a Maddening CF/SS playthrough where I plan to use every DLC character. I'm only partly through the side story, but I rather like the new characters. I've decided to use all four. Constance, Hapi, and Balthus are straightforward.

With that in mind, I've been trying to decide what team composition to go with. The biggest sticking point is who I should plan for my dancer to be. The two obvious candidates are Dorothea and Yuri.

Dorothea offers tons of linked attack bonuses if she holds onto meteor while dancing. But she's comparatively fragile.

Yuri offers some incredible potential for tanking in the enemy phase while also dancing, but lacks the wide area link support. His ridiculous speed also seems like it might be wasted on a primary support unit.

If Dorothea isn't the dancer, she'll likely get benched. If Yuri isn't the dancer, I have no idea what to build him as - too many options, with no clear "best" build. So, between the two of them, which is the "better" dancer?
