Examples of lateral/divergent/creative thinking in commercials?

Hi! I'm a teacher and I was asked to prepare a short seminar/workshop about divergent thinking. I wanted to show a few examples of great video commercial (advertising) writing, but I couldnt think of any since it's not my field of knowledge anymore (I just studied something during my academy years).

What do you think are the best examples of genious commercials, which make you go "wow, was not expecting that. genious!"?

Thanks a lot <3

Vagus nerve stimulation boosts the drive to work for rewards

>Interoceptive feedback transmitted via the vagus nerve plays a vital role in motivation by tuning actions according to physiological needs. Whereas vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) reinforces actions in animals, motivational effects elicited by VNS in humans are still largely elusive. Here, we applied non-invasive transcutaneous auricular VNS (taVNS) on the left or right ear while participants exerted effort to earn rewards using a randomized cross-over design (vs. sham). In line with preclinical studies, acute taVNS enhances invigoration of effort, and stimulation on the left side primarily facilitates invigoration for food rewards. In contrast, we do not find conclusive evidence that acute taVNS affects effort maintenance or wanting ratings. Collectively, our results suggest that taVNS enhances reward-seeking by boosting invigoration, not effort maintenance and that the stimulation side affects generalization beyond food reward. Thus, taVNS may enhance the pursuit of prospective rewards which may pave avenues to treat motivational deficiencies.

Transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) enhances divergent thinking

>Creativity is one of the most important cognitive skills in our complex and fast-changing world. Previous correlative evidence showed that gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is involved in divergent but not convergent thinking. In the current study, a placebo/sham-controlled, randomized between-group design was used to test a causal relation between vagus nerve and creativity. We employed transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS), a novel non-invasive brain stimulation technique to stimulate afferent fibers of the vagus nerve and speculated to increase GABA levels, in 80 healthy young volunteers. Creative performance was assessed in terms of divergent thinking (Alternate Uses Task) and convergent thinking tasks (Remote Associates Test, Creative Problem Solving Task, Idea Selection Task). Results demonstrate active tVNS, compared to sham stimulation, enhanced divergent thinking. Bayesian analysis reported the data to be inconclusive regarding a possible effect of tVNS on convergent thinking. Therefore, our findings corroborate the idea that the vagus nerve is causally involved in creative performance. Even thought we did not directly measure GABA levels, our results suggest that GABA (l

Divergent and Convergent Thinking

I have been reading a lot (even more so in isolation than ordinarily) and came across a series of arguments about how introverted intuition, the primary cognitive function of INTJ and INFJ peeps, is an example of convergent thinking, whereas extroverted intuition, the primary cognitive function of ENTP and ENFP peeps, is an example of divergent thinking. The difference between convergent and divergent thinking seems to be the emphasis on whether you focus on bringing disparate ideas together (convergent) or exploring possibilities of individual ideas (divergent). As an INTJ, I suppose it's expected that I'm more of a convergent thinker, but I disagree. I use a ton of divergent thinking all the time, maybe more than convergent thinking, and I was wondering if others in this subreddit had thoughts on that.

Divergent thinking and mbti

As far as I can tell, divergent thinking is practically indistinguishable from mainstream definitions of Ne. I haven't looked into the data, and frankly papers look like a mess of jargon I can't understand, but it seems if divergent thinking scores are on a standard distribution that would directly contradict the predictions mbti makes. Mbti suggests clumping of scores or otherwise no common "average" use of Ne.
