A list of puns related to "Christian Holy Day"
Christians bale Christ in a bale with Christian Bale to make christian bales for Christianβs bail, when...βChrist, Ian bailed!β
My mom offered me the opportunity to go on a 10 day trip to Israel that was planned by a pastor who has been there multiple times. The itinerary sounds amazing, we pack in about as much as you possibly can in the time we are there. I am definitely excited to see everything from a historical standpoint, however reading through the itinerary you can definitely tell it was completely based on the bible (i.e. starting with worship every day, seeing places like 'Jesus' tomb and the crucifixion site').
I was raised as an Evangelical Lutheran but as I got older religion to me just ceased making sense for my life. I am worried to go on this trip because I feel as though I will be the only one out of 30 that isn't religious. Since it is such a religious place, I just have images of everyone becoming emotional over things that I wouldn't be able to replicate authentically and stick out like a sore thumb. So the question is, do I go along for the ride and pretend I am still a believer and that nothing has changed, or do I be up front with my mom and tell her the truth? I don't want to ruin the trip for her by upsetting her with this news, but I also don't know how long I could keep up the religious front.
Respond if needed that "Happy holidays" is as religious as "Merry Christmas".
Etymology from etymonline:
holiday (n.)
1500s, earlier haliday (c. 1200), from Old English haligdæg "holy day, consecrated day, religious anniversary; Sabbath," from halig "holy" + dæg "day"; in 14c. meaning both "religious festival" and "day of exemption from labor and recreation," but pronunciation and sense diverged 16c. As an adjective mid-15c. Happy holidays is from mid-19c., in British English, with reference to summer vacation from school. As a Christmastime greeting, by 1937, American English, in Camel cigarette ads.

Medieval people partied like it was 999. Their calendar was chock full of holy day festivals, games, feasts, parties, gifts, and observances with costumes and customs. Anybody out there doing this today?
Also why do Muslims have Friday? Just wondering why the split happened. Not complaining though, I like longer weekends.
Unbelievable comments by Mormons attempting to defend this attack on Christian Holy Days and the Catholic Church. They call themselves Christian, while attacking almost all Christian beliefs and practices. The LDS should be ashamed at the shoddy writing and research in this article. If this constitutes scholarship in the LDS faith they are truly a vacuous faith.

Continuing his catechesis on the Eucharist Pope Francis reminded Christians that we go to Mass on Sunday to meet the resurrected Lord β or better still β βto let ourselves be welcomed by Him, to hear His word, eat at His table, and by his grace fulfil our mission as members of the Mystical Body of the Church.β
