A list of puns related to "American Food"
For example, I've heard more than one Southerner say they felt quite cheated by the highfalutin Brooklyn hipster BBQ that was all the rage for a few minutes.
So, don't get me wrong, I'm sure I'm operating under a lot of assumptions here,
But in my experience I've noticed that a lot of "white people food" is very separated, whereas a lot of other cultures, such as Asian or Hispanic, integrate their food together a lot.
For instance, I've noticed a typical dinner in a White household is a section of mashed potatoes, a section of steak, and a section of salad:
Compare this to a kind of Tex-Mex quesadilla, which has a bunch of vegetables, cheeses, and meats mixed in together,
Or how a lot of (supposedly) Asian food, such as fried rice, has onions, peas, and peppers mixed in with shrimp and rice.
How did we evolve with our culinary preferences over time, to where it seems like almost every other culture puts their food together, except for white/american cultures?
random but i was wondering how the US is viewed culturally in the sense of food. in my area i see a mix of everything here really. recently walked past a little german cafe/ corner store thatβs new though i didnβt go in. generally, i know the US probably has the worst rep for high sugary snacks but do you like any american foods? i love the variety and the differences in culture even in different states so i was wondering how itβs seen abroad. if thereβs any germans who spent time in america, whatβd you think? anything you dislike?
On a whim, I decided to eat boxed macaroni and cheese with sliced hotdogs the other day. Haven't had it in probably over two decades, but goddamn if I don't think it's still delicious.
Weird sugary garbage, all of it.
First of all thank you all for your responses. Let me introduce myself to you. I'm from Ukraine and live in our capital Kyiv. I'm 39 and work in a cookie factory as dough and cream filling maker. As you can understand the factory products are biscuits of all kind. I work 48 hours a week, it's a physical labor so I'm said to be a typical working class in my country. Thanks to God I own a tiny flat, therefore there is no rent issues for me. I almost never eat out (in the exception of a sushi or pizza order approximately once a month). I always try to get cheap or discounted foods from local groceries. At times I socially drink beer or even cognac, etc. Nevertheless I spend up to 40% of my monthly salary on meal/drinks. Just wondered how things are being done in the USA among people who are also doing physical labor.
So far I have only mastered chicken curry, red lentil dal and saag paneer. I sadly have no idea how to replicate naan without a tandoori oven so I have to buy it from the Indian restaurant or get it frozen.
There's a fine line between a consenting minor and nonconsenting, especially if the minor has graduated high school. I'd rather fill prisons with murderers and rapists than the predators I'm referring to.
Prison overcrowding and America unnecessarily locks up the most people than any other nation. https://www.prisonpolicy.org/reports/pie2020.html
It was just a passing remark without any details.
So are the sections mostly for American expats or for Europeans wanting a taste of American food?
What other special sections are there in a large European supermarket?
I'm a foodie whenever it comes to American cuisine. For example, Whenever I taste hamburger, it made my mouth joy full of melted cheese, juicy beef and sour pickles. the aesthetic of American food is very appealing like it made you want to think eating high calories of Sonic. The drinks are super like... you get a big sized cup filled with coca cola. Snacks are pretty much better: cotton candy, chips and cookies is all I could eat. I did try Japanese food. I don't really like it that much. The taste is pretty much weird as if I was eating a raw fish or octopus. I don't like the taste of soy sauce, too much of a sweetness. And why would you put a pizza-flavored on a stick? I know its supposed to be a snack, but its really a waste of food resources. If you really want to eat pizza, order on store or online.
Thinking of stuff like Common Room. Burgers, wings, texmex, fried chicken, nice beers etc.
What do you reckon?
Same question to Americans. What foreign food did you think would be great but wasnβt?
