Hello, I hope that your new year will be happy, healthy and full of love.
I work at a bridal shop in the Memphis area, to make a long story short after a long period of learning my fiancé and I became Muslim shortly before our wedding in November. After I returned to work I started wearing hijab, because I want to wear it, I believe in the reasons for wearing it and it’s my right to wear it. I do generally dress more modestly than I used to when I started working here in 2016 but that is a long time coming already. People have stared and given looks but that is expected and I don’t fault others for being surprised or curious. However I went into work today to make some alterations on a dress for one of our clients and the owner was there. First she offered me some champagne for the new year and I reminded her that it was 9am, but that even if it wasn’t I don’t drink alcohol anymore, she then said something which rubbed me the wrong way, “why would your God create champagne if a girl can’t even have some to celebrate the new year” I just stayed quiet because I do not want to get into a discussion like that at work with an elderly woman who I have always respected, frankly she intimidates me and I did not know what to say in that moment. Before she left she told me that our customers are fashionable modern brides and they don’t want to be helped to choose their most important outfit by someone with her hair covered whose dressed like a schoolteacher from 1930.
I try my best to be fashionable and wear designer clothing but it is difficult to find things that cover what I want to cover and isn’t too loud, so I do wind up sewing much of my own clothing but I know what I’m doing as this is my job, and of course my hair is covered. I don’t want to lose my job, I enjoy my job, I love sewing and I love helping women feel beautiful on the most important day of their lives, but I’m not going to compromise my modesty for anyone and I would rather lose my job. I’m hoping that I don’t have to make that choice, is this considered anti-religious discrimination? What can I do?

I signed a lease with a private leasing company for an apartment in April 2019. One month later, the private university down the street from me purchased the building. I was notified via a letter in May 2019, stating they would honor my current lease. I did not sign any additional lease or housing contracts. Today, the university staff entered for an "annual safety inspection" and confiscated a very sentimental candle of mine, and failed me for the inspection. My original lease says nothing about candles not being permitted in the room. I can't seem to find any tenant's right information on this in Massachusetts, as it seems too specific of a case. Are they allowed to purchase the building and all of a sudden make me follow university housing policies?
Just a thought. Because YouTube has a monopoly, everyone already goes there, and it takes a massive amount of money to run so starting a new one is very difficult.
If there was some way to sweet talk things to get YouTube subsidized, bam! Censorship problem solved!! Can any one tell me their thoughts on this?
