I was visiting Shanghai last month and noticed that there wasn’t any riding electric kick scooters 🛴 (Xioami, Ninebot, etc). They are pretty common in my city.
Are they allowed in Shanghai? Or is it just that they aren’t popular with all of the other transport options?
I've seen the new signs and was wondering if they meant the kick scooters or the vespa looking scooters? I was curious because I saw many electric kick scooters on the path and was wondering if they are now permitted? It would sure make traveling from lower to upper Manhattan a lot smoother and easier than thru the city. Thank you much.
My car's transmission decided to die on me the other day, so I had to quickly drop 5K cash on a used Toyota Corolla, which I know is fuel-efficient. The thing is, I realize my commute is mostly a straight line on flat terrain. It's 20 minutes by car, about 2.5 hours by walking. Biking is quicker, but I don't want to bike because people drive crazily around here, so I would want to commute mostly on sidewalks and crosswalks.
I believe on a kick scooter (I have a Razor A6) my commute would be about 1 hour and 20 minutes per trip. Lengthy and tiring, but a great workout and I don't have to worry about the high gas prices, wearing my car out or the chance of fender benders (which have been costly for me in the past). My area is mostly very safe, I have to only pass by one town that is slightly sketch, but not too bad.
Of course I'm keeping my car for occasional long trips and for bad weather, but is this idea to commute by kick scooter for 16 miles total feasible or just totally insane? Has anyone done something like this before? Thanks.

Hard to get any clear advice/instructions on the solution for these codes. Any advice would be much appreciated. Tried taking off external battery cleaning out terminals and reconnecting with a hose clamp and a hard reset which seemed to work for a few weeks then back to the main issue of getting code 52 and beeping when plugging charger in and intermittent power loss. Does it need a new control board? Battery? Thanks in advance.
Update: I replaced the dashboard and control board with parts from Amazon and all of the issues seem to be resolved. Feels like new. Although The braking feels a bit aggressive at times. I did not update the firmware to the latest because I’ve heard that can be an issue with the charging/battery error 52. Firmware is currently 1.3.9
I'm an adult (I know... a dorky adult) considering the purchase of a kick scooter. I'm not talking the motorized type, just human-powered. Do they need to be ridden in bike lanes/on the road? And do you need to wear a helmet?
