CMV: Shoelaces are outdated and inferior technology compared to hook-and-loop fasteners

I see very few advantage that shoelaces have:

Shoelaces take more time to fasten.
Shoelaces more easily accidentally become unfastened.
Even if h.a.l. should come undone, it's quite hard to trip over it compared to shoelaces.
H.a.l. can far more easily be operated with one hand.
Sholaces sometimes get stuck in an annoying knot that is timeconsuming to undo; this does not happen to h.a.l..

One could make a subjective æsthetics argument, but such can be made about any different technology and by that metric outdated technology does not exist — a man is certainly permitted to use outdated technology for a certain look, but he shouldn't fool himself that he is not using outdated technology either.

Are their any hook and loop fastener alternatives for cable management?

We are redoing our patch cable management and we have used velcro to secure and keep the patch cables neatly organized. However, it is a pain to undo all the velcros on a bundle just to add a few more. Are there any hook and loop fastener alternatives that you use to organize bundles of patch cables

I did find the cable clamp which might work but wanted to know if Sysadmins have come across any other alternatives as well. http://www.cableclamp.com/

[SMT] Something like hook and loop fastener, but with hooks that can retract using electricity

Hook and loop fastener has tremendous shear strength. If it could be used to close a door, it would be enormously strong. There would be no structural "hot spots" caused by bolts. So what if the hooks in hook and loop fastener could be retracted? Perhaps nitinol wire could be used to accomplish this?
