A list of puns related to "Burdock"
Does anyone know of any stores that sell the root in the gta? I want to grow some and add it to my teas.
Can any Japanese speakers help me understand the play on words in the first scene? The young woman asks Gen if he likes stir fry because he's a "small fry" in the yakuza, then seems surprised by his anger and claims she didn't realize that would be offensive. The English translation is pretty obviously an insult, so I'm curious what the Japanese version is. Also curious what 'Baldie' says instead of "All bark, no bite": what's the equivalent in Japanese?
Thanks!
Hi there! New to group but not entirely new to herbs. Just looking for feedback on some dried burdock root I just purchased to make pills for a recommended concoction to treat edma and anemia, among other things. Anyway so I'm trying to bust it up in my mortle and pestle and its hard like rocks! I've never used burdock before and I can't seem to find this specific quality online.
Has anyone out there experienced this before? Has the burdock expired? And therefore will it still be as effective? My next step is to clean my coffee grinder and give that a go, but I won't go through the trouble if the burdock is no longer good to use.
Thanks so much in advance, I'm excited about finding this group! I hope I can contribute.

Hello all! I just wanted to let everyone know what has helped me with my flares. I started getting major flares about a year and a half ago. I'm talking daily, dozens of little itchy "bubbles" all of my fingers and palms. If I didn't keep lotioned up, they'd dry up and crack, forming like little deep fissures that would bleed. It got to where I couldn't even open a can of soda, walk my dog on a leash, or type on a computer. My doctor put me on steroid cream as per usual. It's good stuff but only treats the flare after it appears. And it's expensive. I wanted to stop the flares from appearing, so I looked into some herbal remedies. I've been fond of herbal remedies for years, but I also understand much of it can be exaggerated. But whatever, I was desperate, and decided to look back into burdock root.
Burdock (Arctium lappa) is basically a weed that's native to Eurasia but is naturalized in North America. The root is basically a long tubular thing like a big ugly carrot. It's still used in some Asian cuisines today as a vegetable. In herbal medicine it's used as a diuretic and blood cleanser, which is cool and all, but it also has anti-inflammatory properties. I decided: what the heck, let's try it.
So on my next big flare, with deep bleeding fissures that somehow still itched like a mother, I made a decoction of ground burdock root, soaked my hands in a bowl of it, and drank 2 cups of it. It made my skin soft, but lotion can do that. The next day I did the same thing. On day 3, I just drank the decoction. By day 4, I had no new blisters/bubbles and zero itching. So I kept doing it. I drank the stuff for probably 9 days straight, and holy crap not a single outbreak. The skin on my hands healed, and I felt normal again. So of course I forgot to keep drinking the decoction. Then a flare appeared, and I started back drinking it and it cured it right up.
So now, it's been about 5 months since I started with the burdock root. I haven't had one significant flare since. If I do get a flare, it's only 4 or 5 blisters, not the dozens I used to deal with, and I only get them when I go about a week without the burdock root. The best part is that my hands aren't constantly peeling and flaking anymore and that it doesn't hurt to wash my hands.
So, my ritual now is that at least 3 nights a week I brew burdock root decoction. I drink about 20-30 oz at night and another 20-30 oz in the morning, 3 days a week. I started with dried burdock root from Mountain Rose Herbs
... keep reading on reddit β‘Where can I find fresh burdock root in Queens? I live in Astoria and I currently travel into Brooklyn to find burdock root at an Asian grocers. Does anyone have any recommendations of places that would carry it that are closer to home?
I want to make kimbap this weekend. I'm familiar with pickled radish and the other typical ingredients, but what can I expect with burdock - taste, texture, etc? Is it crucial for kimbap?
Bonus question...is sushi rice an acceptable short grain rice? Or do I need sticky rice? I imagine there's a level of stickiness added from the addition of sesame oil, so curious.
Thanks!
And dandelionβs a weed.
Was just wondering for when i decide if I want to do something different. Edit. Buttstock. Damn autocorrect
Basically, just what the title says. I am trying to make fire cider and would like to add burdock root, but I doubt that I will find it at Kroger! Does anyone know anywhere local that sells burdock root? Have you seen it anywhere? Trying to avoid ordering it online. Thanks for your help in advance.
Iβve taken ashwaganda as a supplement in a pill before and I had decent results but nothing to write home about.
I was thinking having some all natural root would yield better results. I was out of town and visited an awesome crystal and herb shop and I found a 1oz bag of Ashwaganda and Burdock.
How should I use the ashwaganda? And about how much? Its not ground up, but little βtwigsβ I guess Iβll say. I donβt have a scale ATM.
I have no idea what burdock does at all, or how to use it. Iβve just heard of it frequently throughout my life and felt gravitated towards it so I grabbed some.
Whats the best way to go about these 2 herbs/supplements? Thanks folks.
In Korean they are commonly go by the names of ueong and ssuk
I was washing some burdock roots and it's causing severe red spots of itches in my hand, a bit burning sensation and awhile later after I wash my hands the sensation gradually stops. Even when I touch a little bit of it I immediate get red itches.
I was searching online and can't find anything in depth about whether burdock root causes allergy. Kinda worried whether it's safe to eat it if I'm planning to cook it. Does anyone experienced or know anything about this?
