I just received a piece of Priority Mail mail from "Criminal Investigations Service Center / United States Postal Inspection Service" addressed to my actual address down to the unit number but it's addressed to a name I've never heard of (and I don't believe that person lives in my building either since the name does not ring a bell at all). And I've lived at this address for at least 8 years, and in all those years, I've never received any other mail with this person's name on it.
Should I be concerned? From googling USPIS it looks like they investigate matters regarding mail fraud or illegal usage (among other things). I'm mainly worried that maybe someone is using my address for nefarious purposes (like from a quick google search, I read about scenarios where criminals are using addresses for locations they have easy access to so they can get illegal stuff shipped there and then they scoop it up before anyone notices). But I don't really know, since I don't want to open up the letter (since once again, it's not addressed to my name). I called the USPIS and spoke to someone, but all they said was to return the letter to my local mail carrier, but she didn't shed any light on my concerns about my address being misused.
Anyone dealt with this before? Any idea what might be happening?
So I received a letter from the listed above Service, in the Los Angeles Division, saying two individuals (letter provided their names) were found in possession of my personal identity information and that there is a federal case against these two individuals and I am asked to fill out the Identity Theft Questionnaire and mail it back with the envelope that was provided. Some things that strike me as βoddβ with this letter is the incident happened on March 18, 2019. Letter is dated as May 29,2019 but was not delivered until today. I have not noticed any irregular charges to any of my accounts. Iβm in a confused state of this even being real or not but Iβm also just curious if anyone else has received mail like this? However, if it is real, do i just go through old purchases and see if anything is irregular?
Thanks for reading and the help in advance!
Hi - I received the following letter from the United States Postal Inspection Service. subject: Detention of Priority Mail The purpose of this letter is to advise you that a Priority mail piece addressed to you is currently being withheld from delivery as there are reasonable grounds to believe the contents are non-mailable and possibly in violation of Federal law specifically the Controlled Substances Act. Or attempt to contact the sender to obtain additional information have been unsuccessful thus far. The above described mail piece is currently being held at my office. If you want to claim the mail piece, please contact me If we do not hear from you or the the sender within thirty ddavs of your receipt of the letter, the letter will be deemed to be abandoned, and it will be disposed of in accordance with US Postal Service policy.
basically, do you think I should seek legal advice? Thanks, MM

I hope the Sub will forgive that this borders on politics, but is a way to get good rum to all our Sub members!
This bill, the USPS Shipping Equity Act, introduced to the US House of Representatives this summer, would allow the Post Office to deliver alcoholic beverages. They have been prevented from doing so by law since 1909. The bill has bipartisan support, and would help save the cash-strapped Post Office.

So funny thing...I got a letter today from USPS welcoming me and giving me a PIN and a password to login to liteblue to set up my self service profile.
However, I do not have a job. I accepted an offer a few weeks ago. Did NACI and fingerprints but have heard nothing since. My guess is it is too late now for a holiday job which is what I applied for. I did apply for other positions that I do not think are holiday positions but those are still just applications. No offers as of right now.
So, does this letter indicate my background check came back and everything is good? I just don't know what job they think I have.
