I hate the Polar Express

Every Christmas-time as a kid, my teachers and other students would gather around the old, boxy TV in our classroom to watch The Polar Express and I hated it. The animation is creepy, it seems too close to realism and the characters are just weird and creepy as well; Don't even get me started on how annoying the conductor is (as well as everyone else). The songs are mediocre, aren't catchy at all and I don't feel like there's any real point to the movie. I'm quite perplexed as to why people like it, but maybe it's just something to do with childhood nostalgia. It takes a lot for me to say I hate any movie, but I can honestly say the only movie I truly despise is the Polar Express.

In The Polar Express (2004) the amount of train cars never stays consistent

I understand it’s a magic train. It’s neat to notice the train cars go from 5 in the beginning (when the Boy is picked up) to like 20 or 30 whenever he is chasing the conductor with the girls ticket on top of the train. You may also notice when it is following the ticket and the wolves start chasing the train. they also go from the front of the train to the toy cart to the kids car without passing the kitchen/staff (for the hot chocolate).

Everything from the terrible animation to the wack Hot Chocolate scene to the creepy imaginary homeless dude sitting on the roof of the train is just so hard to watch. So many people love it but it would only be enjoyable if your teacher put it on in class and gave you an excuse to not do work.

The Ending Monologue of β€œThe Polar Express”

The Polar Express is honestly one of my all time favorite Christmas movies and I will 100% always admit that. Especially since I know it tends to be an unpopular opinion. Nonetheless, I love it so much.

One thing that always gets me really in my feelings is the ending monologue. I don’t know what it is, but as he speaks about the bell, I just get chills up my spine. When I first watched the movie all those years ago, it gave me chills, and even at twenty-two it gives me chills right up my spine. I really don’t know what it is, but it gets me every single time.

Remember when The Polar Express came out and the CGI faces made a lot of people creeped out and queasy?

It's crazy to me that it's both only been and already been fifteen years since it wasn't just "Oh, the uncanny valley is so distracting in that" but rather "this makes me feel sick and makes my hair stand up on my neck." Not only that but, it took me until about thirteen of those years of getting used to CGI enough to be able to actually watch that movie as the movie it was intended to be.

[THE POLAR EXPRESS][MOVIE] Santa creates lifelong believers as a power source

Sooo...this seems pretty far fetched, but I was watching the polar express with my wife and son, and I couldn't help but over analyze this movie. My theory is that Santa creates life long believers by hand picking children to bring to the north pole so they can provide an endless amount of magic to him even into adulthood. Obviously it's not malicious he does it so he can keep delivering presents. I'm mainly pulling this from the various versions of santa we've seen in media that require some form of belief to continue existing or continue being magical.
