I am going from Seattle to LA ( Sacramento) and then I am taking road through Nevada. From Chicago I take the road through Pennsylvania and then south to Miami.

I grew up in tiny Carey, Idaho. There is no hospital. When someone in the community was in trouble we depended on local volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) as the first responders. In those emergencies every minute seems like ten. And the ambulance is 27 miles away.
Dad and Mom were part of that volunteer group. EMTs in Carey all carried around radios linked into State Communications that handled dispatching first responders when 9-1-1 was called. As a family this was our normal life. When a call would come in, there was a distinctive alarm on the radio. We were all trained that when that radio went off, daaa... duuu...de-de-de-de-de-de!!! immediately stop what you're doing so that the emergency call could be heard. And then mom and dad sprang into action.
While dad was a volunteer when he was off-shift in Carey, he was a professional Paramedic with Wood River Ambulance (and others), which was the service providing ambulance coverage for Carey. Mom still had a radio, so once in a while we could hear him talking with State Comm on a call. He always sounded so cool and professional and in control. It was truly his world.
One day at home, while dad was at work, my little sister Savannah, a toddler, was eating a peach and got the pit lodged in her throat. She was choking and struggling to breathe. Mom knew what to do. She jumped into action performing the Heimlich Maneuver. But it wasn't working. More chest thrusts and patting on the back, but nothing. This went on for what seemed like several minutes. Savannah was crying and gasping for each breath. Time was running out. Mom knew that she needed help and made the call to emergency services. In moments her EMT radio came alive with that alarm that we knew so well... daaa... duuu... de-de-de-de-de-de!!! It was chilling knowing that this time, they were coming to our house. "Carey QRU, respond to 707 River Lane, for a choking child." And then moments later came the reply, "State Comm, this is Wood River Ambulance responding to 707 River Lane in Carey." It was dads voice. I admit that I felt a certain sense in that moment that it was going to be okay. Dad was coming.
Everything was happening very quickly. As we continued to work on dislodging the pit we made our way outside to the front of the house, anticipating the arrival of EMTs, and dad in the ambulance. Mom continued to work. Abdominal thrus

Emoni Bates, the No. 1 player in the class, told @Stadium he will reclassify and either head to college and the G-League this season. He said he will choose between Oregon, Memphis, Michigan State if he goes the college route.

Bates will not turn 19 until Jan. 28, 2023 - which means he is not eligible for next yearβs NBA Draft.
Bates told me he will take this year by year and re-evaluate after this season wherever he goes, but there is a chance that if he goes to college, heβll be there for 2 years.
